I got a preorder in at ID as Phil reminds us. Didn't cost that much. I think it was 22 shipped. 24 maybe. But had I not I'd have swiped one from Kapow at 7. Expensive, but essential. Rook is nice but Groove is Groove.
This G1 thinking is vexing me currently with Bruticus. Takara has a shuttle, big plus, but the colours on all five of their figures are much less G1 than the Hasbro versions. I'm contemplating going Hasbro after all now they're available again and hoping at some point they also release shuttle Blast Off in sensible colours. Thing is sooner or later CW will be off their radar and with no fun pub the avenues for that figure being released in the West are diminished. Vexatious it is, vexatious I say!

To be honest I'm only mucking about. I want Victorion; I think it looks great. I'm all for colour co-ordinated combiners and gosh darn it if this isn't a bunch of genuinely new characters to boot! What I am wondering though is if it'll price drop shortly. I only see negative comments from fans about Victorion, so I'm wondering if it'll drop to the 80 dollar mark on Amazon like the G2 sets before long. Rocker feet too! can't go wrong... |

ID's Facebook suggests they'll be shipping soon. They listed an extra 'half dozen' Grooves this afternoon which sold out straight away, which kinda suggests they've got them now and knew how many extras they had. Hoping to see a shipping notice soon to be sure I actually have one!

I've decided that I quite like Legends Groove, and don't think it warrants paying £30 to upgrade it to a deluxe. I'm going to stick with the small one as a Beat Officer to backup Ultima Iaustus in the peacekeeping role. (But then, technically my CW "Protectobots" now are an Eight-bot team anyway - having picked up the somewhat hot-headed Undercover who named himself after the Prime who ended the war (Rodimus) and earnest young rookie Strongarm who are the latest official recruits to Battle Core's peacekeeping force in the Falkirk Cluster.)

On the subject of CW, I've been thinking. I've been so blinded by the need to have Blast Orf as a shuttle that I realised recently that I haven't really paid much attention to the colour scheme of the Unite version. It's crap. None of the figures look right. In fact, having looked at the Hasbro one again I may even have to concede that Jet Blast Off actually looks more like the G1 version in arm mode than the Unite one. Hasbro have all the colours right. Yes, there's the odd bit like trying to reproduce G1 Vortex's yellow arm stickers by repainting the missiles, but the only thing Takara have right is the colour of Bruticus' head. Toon=bad toy=good. I think... I think I need to buy the Hasbro one. Did I say that? I think I did. Takara may have a shuttle, but it doesn't actually look that good and the paint job is horrendous. I fear the window of opportunity is passing for a Hasbro release, it was obviously too soon to include it in the May Mayhem, but I think I can forego that for a better paint job. Too much about the Takara one is weird. Brawl's red face, Swindle's silver roll bars, Vortex is just plain dull even with a couple of extra rotors, and Blast Off is messy. Not to mention Onslaught's torso having so little blue. |

Having proudly been displaying Graham's G1 Stunticons for the last few weeks individually, tonight I combined them and put G1 Menasor next to CW Menasor.
Fantastic. 30 years apart but both equally brilliant. What an awesome toy line this is. The best.

I had a dream last night that Phil kept telling me to get CW First Aid and Ironhide but whenever they came close their heads flew off and fell into the sea. Then I had to go to a public loo but it turned out to be Atlantis and there was a mysterious woman who was there. Then there was a tidalwave which sent me to a bandstand where all the Ironhide toys were.
I had cheese before bedtime.
