Yes, remember I'm the man who bought the X-Men title for 14 years before actually reading any of them. I profess to being a Marvel fan, but my experience of the actual comics is fairly limited. I have had good goes in the past; I read almost all of the Ultimate Universe stories and I have collections of titles like Power Pack, and I did read Iron Man for a long time in the 80s, but the modern main Universe stuff, particularly the Avengers, I'm not that well aware of.
Oh man, I remember now, I collected West Coast Avengers too but I've no idea why. Actually I did read the Panini Spiderman book for a good while too, until I came to the conclusion the character is quite dull. There's a pile of those somewhere round here.

Almost certainly cheaper to read in trade format though. -Ralph True, but I've really quite got into buying comics monthly again. It's a nice weekend treat. Now I've reached the Easter holiday I will catch up with Avengers Universe so that can go on the regular read list. Ebay provided all of the Axis issues for a fiver.

CIvil War 1 is a 100 page special. That's gonna be first four issues plus interviews. 9 issues total, 5 remaining (was the last double sized?) so three issues total.

Here's what I said last year: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Wars_%282015_comic_book%29Secret Wars BATTLEWORLD:Ghost Racers Inhumans: Attilan Rising Marvel Zombies Master of Kung Fu Runaways Secret Wars: Battleworld Secret Wars Journal Thors Ultimate End WARZONES:1602: Witch Hunter Angela A-Force Armor Wars E is for Extinction Future Imperfect Giant-Size Little Marvel: AvX Inferno Infinity Gauntlet MODOK Assassin Old Man Logan Planet Hulk Secret Wars 2099 Spider-Verse Squadron Sinister Weirdworld Where Monsters Dwell X-Men '92 X-Tinction Agenda Years of Future Past Deadpool's Secret War So Hulks: be Planet Hulk, Future Imperfect and ? Marvel Legend: Armor Wars, Thors and ? Old Man Logan will go in Wolverine & Deadpool along with Deadpool's Secret Wars and one of the X titles bellow: E is for Extinction Inferno X-Men '92 X-Tinction Agenda Years of Future Past Probably Years of Future Past: there's a Wolverine connection there. Avengers will be Secret Wars itself plus A-Force and ?? Ultimate end maybe. Spiderman.... Spider-Verse is the only thing that leaps out but I think some of the other spider titles are rumbling on during Secret Wars. Mighty World of Marvel could be anything. Forget anything referring to X-Men, Wolverine & Deapool and Marvel Legends. :-( At just 3 issues Avengers has to be just Secret Wars so forget any of the other Avengers SW titles.

Seems odd to skip all the X-Men tie-ins!
The cynical part of me suspects Panini are skipping so much of the build-up of SW and it's tie-ins so they can flog more trades.

Last few days I've read Avengers Universe 16-24 which I realised last night equates to 30 US issues! Go me! I quite enjoyed Axis but am still peeved the after effects are going to roll on in Iron Man for another seven months yet. I was doing fine until issue 24 which didn't make an awful lot of sense to me, but at least now I'm locked in and ready for the Secret Wars build up. Still amazed how far Al Ewing has gone so fast from his 2000AD roots.

I was weak, I bought Civil War 1. Not what I thought: US CW 1, New Avengers 21, Amazing Spider Man 66 and New Avengers: Illuminati. So the plan isn't dump the whole thing out in three issues and cash in on the Movie! I suspect they're gonna stretch this reprint out long enough to do Civil War 2 involving this title as well. Yet another finger raised from Panini towards Secret Wars and Hickman's Avengers. MWOM: Ms Marvel 13-15. Not starting with issue 1, mistake. Should have been printing this a while back. Straight into Last Days next issue when the Surfer returns as part of Last Days at the expense of Shield. X-Men: Black Vortex kicks off. Parts One to Four as listed at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Vortex which gives you an idea how long this should last. ASM: ASM 18, completing the reprint of that volume, Silk 5 and the advertised PPTSSM 64 reprint. Next issue it's Silk and Spider-Woman and a reprint of the Spider-Man/Havok Claremont/Byrne Marvel team Up issue (which means the Spider-Man/Thor issue will follow to complete the story). Far far worse things you could reprint.

Good to have the expert analysis. I'm excited by this because it's all new to me, but I quite like the idea of X-Men diverging into a wider range of titles to cover a crossover story after the recent long run through the time travel stuff.
Also happy the Civil War title is doing the same. I'm in for this, looking forward to reading #1. It's aimed at people like me I suppose. Those who have an interest in Marvel but haven't been deep seated in it enough to actually read the titles. To my shame. I've always considered myself a Marvel fan, but I suppose this exposes the fact that for the last fifteen years or so I haven't been that engrossed in it. I bought enough Marvel in the 80s/90s to know what was going on, but not since.

I felt compelled to pick up the Panini Civil War Movie Special (not to be confused with their reprint CW title). Has a comic strip and comes with a sticker album. Fine for what it is.

Read Avengers Universe 25.
Condensing nearly 3 years of US stories in two titles down to TWO ISSUES is a hard task but Al Ewing doesn't do a bad job. But at best what we read here is a companion piece to the Hickman. Stories that I've been saying they should have been printing for a couple of years now. It'll leave the readers not getting quite where the status quo in Secret Wars has come from. A travesty, they had the space to do this but instead printed inferior stories.
I hope for better on the other side, hae they said what Avengers is printing yet?
