Beyond the concept I don't know much about Civil War II and little about it's reaction beyond my expectation that it'll go the way of most Marvel events

Most Marvel events are poo though I always feel compelled to read them. I am part of the problem.
Fear Itself was the worst of them.

Right, what should I be buying for peripheral Civil War II fun? Avengers, X-Men and Legends I get, but of the other issues with tie-ins in, what's worth reading?

Post by The Doctor on Jun 29, 2017 21:59:47 GMT
Avengers is the essential book. You also need Legends as it seems to tie in ok. MWOM has Silver Surfer and Ms Marvel so you should be reading it anyway.

I might give that a go then, but neither of those characters appeal to me.

Silver Surfer is Doctor Who with the trademarks filed off and Ms Marvel hits the spot for me that Spider-Man used to do.

The Ms Marvel comic certainly has something. It's a shame that MWOM has skipped so many issues!

Civil War II is pretty bad so far other than the Ms Marvel story.
Has the Hulks title finally died? It is absent from this month's checklist.

I did think it odd that it didn't have a CWII tie in.
Wasn't Champions supposedly going to Hulk?

The letters page for MWOM states Champions is coming to MWOM in October.
Hulks appears to have been stealth cancelled and replaced by the second Deadpool title and none of us noticed!!!

So January's Avengers said Champions in Hulk: I had an theory of an obvious replacement backup as Champions v2. It features the Hulk, it's a popular title and I'm willing to bet it ends up being reprinted somewhere. marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Champions_Vol_2Current Avengers confirms Champions for Hulk and thus Hulk's survival Hulks has been a dead title walking for some while, they've just chosen an appropriate moment to kill it. MWOM is a better home for Champions anyway and ensures I keep buying it, especially if Ms Marvel continues alongside it

W&D the best selling Panini Collected Edition? My Posterior! It'll be Spider-Man which gets into the supermarkets when all the others don't!

As Spider-Man is able to sustain a fortnightly schedule when the other titles are on a four-weekly schedule then surely that means there is more demand for it ie it sells more than the others overall! We know how UK comics work!
Perhaps W&D may have a higher subscriber base?

Panini seem to have changed their paper stock. The new issue of X-Men out today feels more like a Titan comic - thinner, shinier paper and a glossier cover. I like it.

I too noticed the change in paper stock. Not sure about it. Paninivision has always felt nicer in the hand than Titan.

The thinner paper makes it feel less durable, but I like the finish more. Feels more refined to me.

I thought it felt more durable, just been catching up on the xmen, feels like a nice finish and definitely feels more durable.

New Panini Bookazine Spider-Man's Greatest Villains in WHS this week.
The Venom one (ASM 300) was the oldest thing in it so I didn't bother but nice to see the large size specials aren't dead. There were Spider-Man, Wolverine and Iron Man editions some years ago but not seen any recently.

Is that called square bound? Or perfect bound? I don't like that for a comic. Means unless you crack the spine the pages don't stay open by themselves.

yeah I have noticed that pin on the Deadpool one, then it stays sprung open at a certain page
