Is that called square bound? Or perfect bound? I don't like that for a comic. Means unless you crack the spine the pages don't stay open by themselves. I remember when it was called Prestige Format! Trades have spines and that doesn't bother anyone. -Ralph

Perfect Bound is what the Deadpool comic is.

It's what Panini do in Europe already, having acquired a couple of issues of the italian Transformers comic recently which has the same type, although the Deadpool Unleashed Issue 1 did have a much more robust cover stock.

Trades are published as books though, not comics. It's just a personal preference.

I notice Legends is getting two 100 page specials in a row. I wonder if one has been forced on them to catch up from the mistake in Thor Phil spotted a couple of issues back.
I'm enjoying all the stories at the moment. CWII is better than the other recent big event stories.

It is good that Legends is getting 100 page-issues as I think it was the one title that never did in the past!

Marvel Legends 14: why stick the cover to Thor 15 on this when it prominently features a story that doesn't start till the next issue .... Which should be the one containing Thor 15!

How many parts is the core story? AU is up to #6. I'm just wondering if Legends is promoting Iron Heart as a new story for this month's issue if we're heading into spoiler territory.

AU #15 has CWII #5 and 6 in, which was a surprise. But your dates show Panini is running in the same parallels the original issues did. I walked into a spoiler a while back that I thought Iron Heart being in legends would blow, but it seems not.

Oh yes it does. Wallop. Massive CW2 spoiler in this month's Iron Man story. If that was the same in America, why did they do that?!
This current Cap story is so dense it's almost like The Ultimates was. Not sure I like though that this is clearly setting up the next major event story before the current one is finished. It diminishes CW2's importance.

It doesn't explicitly state what has happened though, does it?

No but it's pretty clear on Stark being dead, which has to be a consequence of CW2 and so therefore removes the shock value of that. It's a really odd thing to do.

I was about to start singing it's praises because I've been enjoying it, but when you start to think about it, the individual elements that make it up are either repeats from the last civil war, as in all the tense conversations, or rug pulling stunts like the deaths. There isn't a huge amount of depth to it.

I've been reading ASM in digital form since Secret Wars as the Panini CE is too padded out with other spider characters at the moment and the main strip's current direction off Peter Parker as a faux Tony Stark annoys me. Having said that I did enjoy Clone Conspiracy.

I don't use WHS for my Panini that often. But this morning I was in town to collect my Lego City Advent Calendar from the Entertainer.
Boxes everywhere, impossible to navigate for a for a disabled person, staff didn't know which box had the title I wanted in which they hadn't put out yet. Not impressed.
See posts passim for similar, which is why I go elsewhere!

i have the same problem with WHSmith, I went in at 10 one Wednesday to collect the transformers partwork and was told it was in "one of those boxes over there, come back alter and it'll be out"
That's fantastic customer service, ain't it! I struggled to navigate round those boxes and I aren't disabled so I genuinely feel for you mate!

I rarely use WH Smiths as I find their stores to be very dark and dingy. They have a depressive air about them. I can't put my finger on exactly why.

You've got to try to get passed everyone too busy reading the mags in the shop instead of buying them.

One of the problems with Smiths is that it doesn't work like a traditional newsagent, more a shop. So whereas in a proper newsagent the proprietor is at work before six, marking up the day's papers for delivery, my local Smiths doesn't open til nine and from what I can see doesn't pay anyone to be in the shop much more than half an hour before it opens. So they never have anything ready.

They used to be so much better.
Especially when they were John Menzies north of the border.
I regularly used to be able to go in on the way to school and pick up new comics from the rack.

Menzies was down south too, the now WHS in Epsom, where I worked, used to be one. Read Doomsday and Gulag in there. The Newsagents on Paddington used to be a Menzies too in the early 80s.

Much better days.
I fondly remember picking up the likes of Primortals and Mr Hero from there in the last few years at high school.
