Hang on!!!
Why is Jazz one of Galvatron's pawns on that cover? I know he is a Classic Hero, but he wasn't revived by him in the story.
This has also made me realise what my newly aquired Super 7 Jazz reminds me of - Jazz drawn by Geoff Senior.

Gah! I've just discovered I inadvertently sat this issue on top of the cardboard envelope that bloody creased 2000AD poster came in and the back cover stuck to the glue on it. Wrecked it! totally torn back cover! I'm down an issue of the 332! to eBay! to eBay! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! It survived 30 years and then...DEATH. -Ralph

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #261 Primal Scream - Part 3: Bumblebee escapes Bludgeon and Seawatch tows the Decepticon away down an underground canal. Grimlock pushes Octopunch off a ledge while Jazz tricks Strangehold into running into a wall. Escaping his dented shell, Octopunch fires at Grimlock, but the shot rebounds and hits Primus instead. The god awakes with a startling cry just as Xaaron manages to teleport the Autobots to Earth. Deep in space, Unicron hears Primus's cry and turns toward Cybertron. Starting Over: Newly awakened, Prowl and Wheeljack moan about the current state of affairs in the war. They're set upon by Mixmaster and Longhaul, who are dealt with quickly by the Autobot pair. Climbing a nearby rise, they come face to face with Megatron, who explains his latest plan - to release a toxic gas into the Earth's atmosphere that will cause a greenhouse effect which he will capitalise on and convert to energon. Happy that once again they are facing impossible odds, just like old times, Prowl and Wheeljack attack. Elsewhere, Transformation tries to keep readers interested by explaining Matrix Quest starts next week - the comic's biggest epic yet; there's the second part of the competition to win the Classic Heroes, in which readers need to name the six toys from their comic faces; and on the letters' page, Dreadwind promises Christopher Richardson of Newcastle Upon Tyne that Prowl will be around a lot more in the comic's near future.

Deep in space, Unicron hears Primus's cry and turns toward Cybertron. 'Cos sound travels through the vacuum of space... faster than the speed of light... yeah... He's not lying. Martin

Obviously we have a Christopher Richardson on here, but I can't see it being the same one. Far too young.

Martin Obviously it was not the actual sound he heard but something due to their psionic connection blah blah... quantum entanglement... blah...

Unicron didn't even have any ears anyway, let alone special space-ears.

He has no ears because there is no sound in space.
He has legs because...
No. I got nothing to explain why he has legs.

I LOVED this story, back in the day. And, unlike Perchance to Dream, THIS ONE HOLDS UP. (And, indeed, reflects my grumpy old Transformer collector- ness).
But it was great to see the 'older' characters again. In action. Oh yeah.
And I remember that Christopher Richardson letter and the answer! And I remember thinking- YES!

Perhaps it wasn't Primus' scream that alerted Unicron but some smell that was let out by his old enemies sudden shock. (It would have been kept in for a long time...) At least realism is present in the fact that he has a bit if a beard though as he wouldnt be able to get a space-razor big enough to shave with.

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #262 Birds of Prey! - Part 1: On the planet Pz-Zazz, Nightbeat, Hosehead and Siren question shady looking locals as to whether they've seen the Creation Matrix. This results in Siren being punched through a window just as a car of even shadier thugs arrive, opening fire on the first group. Both are looking for 'the bird', which is subsequently handed to Siren by an alien as he dies in the crossfire. Nightbeat ponders the mystery suddenly unfolding around them. On the Ark, Optimus and Xaaron discuss the current situation. Two Steps Back: Grimlock battles Shockwave while Runabout reaches for a gun behind him. Grimlock steps back onto Runabout and then headbutts Shockwave. He considers how he has led the Dinobots into a Decepticon ambush, his foes wanting to know how he has resurrected his friends without the use of the Matrix. The Dinobots dispatch their foes, but are reprimanded by Optimus for endangering humans. Grimlock expresses annoyance at Prime's approach and then tricks Runabout into stepping backwards off a cliff. Elsewhere, Transformation warns readers to strap in for the fifteen-part Matrix Quest epic starting this issue; RCA Columbia advertise the VHS release of Karate Kid III while Grandstand promote the latest of their LCD games (27 to collect!); Fred VII breaks out the Pogo in GI Joe; and on the letters' page, 47 year old Martin Limerick of Ascot tells kids to stop worrying about whether they're too old to read the comic because he loves it!

Really random story this. Furman's just playing with characters he likes and the Dino/Shockwave combo is a typical fan fave. Something like this should be momentous and have a reason behind it, however this is thrown out like it happens every day. I'm assuming Grimlock repairing his team without the matrix is a first reference to Nucleon?

IIRC barcodes started in the #200's. I hated it when they started to appear on covers.
