Are you reading them again in colour once you've read them in b/w?

No, once is enough. Although I have flicked through the volume - I think John-Paul's colouring is very good.

I completely missed Earthforce at the time. It was a bit confusing and... unexpected when I tracked down back issues many years later.

I stuck with it. I was still optimistically expecting a new movie at this point, thanks to Dread Tidings...

Now THIS I have no memory of. I dropped out last issue it seems.
....don't looks like I missed much.

I think the most exciting thing in this issue is the Grandstand advert. How many comic strips begin with the line "Billy's showing his friends his parabolic microphone"?
I wonder how well that worked. I also love the random inclusion of the potter's wheel among the metal detector and walkie talkies. Pot throwing is obviously a key spy skill.

Didn't Ghost come out in 1990? Maybe teenage boys felt highly motivated to own a potter's wheel around then

I hear that’s the real reason the new Bond film has been put back. Not enough potters wheel based scenes.

I stuck with it. I was still optimistically expecting a new movie at this point, thanks to Dread Tidings... I remember reading the letter talking about the new movie "The Pretender Exodus" that someone had seen while on holiday in the far east - which turned out to be Masterforce!

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #265 GI Joe and the Transformers: Blood on the Tracks - Part 1: A protest takes place in Seattle outside the world's first mobile solar/nuclear power station. GI Joe have been tasked with protecting it and are on hand. Nearby, in the Ark, Optimus Prime commands Bumblebee to visit the station undercover to watch for Decepticon activity. Bored waiting outside the plant, the Dreadnoks decide to break in to try and take over. Once Upon an Time... : Grimlock recounts the story of the Transformers' arrival on Earth from a book, before adding a bitterly sarcastic ending in which the remaining Autobots and Decepticons live in harmony. He asks his audience, the other Earthbound Autobots, if they believe this. None do. Grimlock throws the book, the Autobot Code, through one of the shuttle's windows, and commands his Earthforce team to move out. Elsewhere, Transformation apologises for the break in The Matrix Quest, due to the fact the UK comic has caught up with the American one; Shockwave features in the return of the A-Z; Weetos offer fifteen prizes of microscopes in a spot the difference competition; and on the letters' page, Christopher Caudery of Aylesbury claims his collection of 116 Transformers is worth £650 and learns from Dreadwind that Pretender shells can only be used by the Transformer they're designed for.

Grimlock throws the book, the Autobot Code, through one of the Ark's windows Pretty sure it was just a shuttle and not the Ark, but could be wrong. Martin

You're probably right. I was doing a different thing using the Ark this morning and probably confused them. Fixed!

LIES! A Pretender Vehicle shell can hold ANY Pretenders robot! (and I bet that collection of toys is worth much more than £650 now)

This strip is still one of my all time favourites! It's one of the few Earthforce strips that really works for me. The humour here is well done (it may be Wildman's finest hour on yhe UK strip) and the story suits a 5-pager. Downhill from here though. -Ralph
