... I just don't want to spend that much on a toy and get a 'meh' from it. Need to watch some video reviews to get the vibes again. I know exactly what you mean.

Perhaps it's one of those figures you need to see in person to decide if it's for you or not.

No sign of this in the UK yet! Worrying, seeing as it's a flagship toy for Hasbro.

Having finally had a play with it, I'm totally sold. The Hasbro version is just a fun toy, but a really really fun toy for anyone who manages to see just fun as an insult. Any kid (or former kid) who gets one is going to have themselves a blast. Its got a lot of heft too.
Throw in the extra paint apps weapons and articulation from Takara and youve also got an adult collectable toy that while not Masterpiece is all I need in in that space.

How could Hasbro get some more money out of this set? Could they go the ROTF route & have characters repainted with Demolishor, Hightower, Landfill. How many different names can we come up with & what colour should they be & which character would be used most? This would be the toys sold in singles so you could make up your own different coloured Devie.

That... Would be interesting. They could also whack Scoop in there. But would they? Given these are all Voyagers, they'd have to sell in the Voyager price range. But would there actually be the demand for that..? I'm not sure. Interesting idea though.

I think we could almost have a Bot Devie. I didn't include Scoop Quickmix because we might see them in Targetmaster line. While Landfill does feel more odd one out of that trio. But would mean Hasbro gets more characters from the same toys.

From the looks of it, now owning Hasbro Devastator, TomTak's will be superior toy. Hasbro's lacks depth and detail. Good enough for me like!

Scrapper's thighs! There nothing there! That's beyond hollow. My word this set gives me the fear. So much money for so much potential disappointment. Ain't no room for shampoo bottles in my CW collection.

I can't tell if you are complaining about Scrapper's thighs or using 'Scrapper's thighs!' as an expletive.

This night I shall be going to sleep with CW Devastator watching over me. He is not mine. And there have been better individual toys. But Primus wept... He is *glorious*.

Was the former, but I'm going to pretend it was the latter because that's brilliant.
Scrapper's thighs but you're a shambles of a Transformer!
Actually, he doesn't look too bad. I've just been spoilt by Gravity Builder.

I've been having more of a go with the individual figures. They're not bad, sone lovely G1 designing, but, yeah... hollow hollow hollow. So many multiple hollownesses. The best of them individually are Bonecrusher and Scavenger. They're actually really decent. Hook and Scrapper look great from certain angles, but you start getting corners cut with them. Hollows, no elbows, might-as-well-not-have-elbows-'cos-the-elbows-he-has-are-crap. They do look good though. Longhaul is.... well... odd, huge, but very odd. The worst one by far though is Mixmaster. He is actually quite poor. Mega-hollow arms, doesn't fit together well. He somehow feels much cheaper than the others. He's terrible really. The 3P replacement might be an option here.
All have good head/face sculpts though.
It's an odd thing. As Llama says, he/they are wonderfull... But look closer and suddenly you realise, "Scraper's thighs, I've paid a lot of money for toys with a lot of faults here".

Right, you're the man on the ground here Shockers, and Llama too if you've got one in hand. Looking at those pictures of the new Takara elbow+ versions - is that change significant enough for the extra expense? Are you looking at those ones thinking, actually, that would make a difference if I didn't already have the set?

Don't forget the US version doesn't have the guns either or the optional raised/lowered visor on the combined mode.

Well, elbows on Scrapper would bring him right up to the level of Scavenger and Bonecrusher, ie a pretty pleasing figure. Still with other falts and hollows, but Scrapper really looks the part, and elbows would allow far more pose/play. Hook is similar, his Hasbro elbows are very poor, and better elbows would improve him as well. I just don't find Hook quite as good as Scrapper. I'd love to be able to put his hands on his hips. As a side point I much rather have Hasbro decor on Bonecrusher than TakTom's. Longhaul is such a bizzar brick it's irrrlevant. You can't pose him in robot mode. At all. It's the sacrifice for a sturdy Devastator. But he's nice in truck mode and is a satisfyingly mighty presence.
Nothing can save Mixmaster though.
Hand guns would be a huge bonus.

Worth the extra expense? Tricky. Possibly not, considering Scrapper and Hook are close enough, Longhaul is just Longhaul, and Mixmaster as a mold is unsalvagable. It would really depend on how much more the set is. If I could buy just their Scrapper and Hook I'd get just them for sure. And the 3P Mixmaster. And keep Longhaul in dump-truck mode.

Scrapper's arms are heavily in use as Devastator. I'm not sure if elbows would actually be a problem stability-wise. Do they somehow lock into place or something? Devastator has issues too, I've come to realise. When viewed from certain angles he has annoying gaps in his body behind his chest shield. I'd like some, I dunno, plug-ins. A vissor would be a nice option for him actually, but not vital. And I still don't like his shoulders, too high on the body and the upper arms look too skinny. But in the plastic it's not as bigger deal as I feared it would be. I am feeling the need to keep my eyes on the 3P market for improvements to it.

Hmmm thinking about it, I'd love a Scrapper with elbows. It would make the figure come alive.
Edit: looking again at Hook, I can't tell now if they're much improved or not...
Bonecrusher and Scavenger are fab though.

Are you looking at those ones thinking, actually, that would make a difference if I didn't already have the set? Based on my brief acess to one at AA I would say if you plan on leaving them combined theres no point unless you really really prefer TT colour scheme. For me that is almost the case as I think the torso looks far more balanced with the inside of Bonecrushers tracks painted purple. If they may spend time split up then what Shockprowl said.
