Have hope, chums. This makes it more likely a G2 version may show up via a somewhat more affordable route!

I suppose this one going to slip out just before the retail version so it is what it is. A premium version of the retail toy with marginal exclusivity and a price to match. This is what happened with Metroplex isn't it? And FoC Bruticus.
Just nice enough to tempt the hardcore into parting with extra cash for the prestige without taking it so far from the retail toy that it becomes a different proposition, like a G2 version.

Metroplex just about beat SDCC Metroplex, BBTS had a wall of them at Botcon, so a lot of people who got the SDCC one probably double dipped.
I honestly don't know if I expect a G2 one or not, yes it looks like Superion will get a G2 version, but Metroplex has still to be repainted so will Hasbro risk a retail repaint and will anyone else risk an exclusive that big and expensive?

It's a good question that. I would have thought that Hasbro wouldn't see any more milage in a yellow devastator than a metro titan. Everyone expected that but it never came. I think if there is a repaint of this figure it would come after the reaction to the original. If elbowgate causes fan implosion then who would want to put it out again?

Doesn't that make it more "G1" though? After all, the original Constructions didn't have elbows either. Karl

Exactly and considering the size, design and probable weight of the combined toy (even allowing for the lighter TF toys of today) surely we can excuse the lack of elbow joints? No need to send a strike force to attack Castle Hasblow.

Concerned about the right knee - but I think a Movie style repaint could work - so red, grey, orange.
Also how is Devie bigger than his box when he is out of it? On websites where we see him in box there is lots of room abover his head while on the image above he is bigger than his box.
Also - Hook is right hand drive like us in the UK - while Scavie is left (Scrapper & Bonecrusher being central)

Is that a different head on the SDCC one? it looks more the right size.
That photo is carefully coloured to make the SDCC one look much chunkier than it actually is.

It's definitely different: one has a visor, the other eyes.

That thing dwarfs Hercules.
It seems to be a genuine classics scaled Devastator. So far Herc, Giant, and tge other 3P and CW combiners have faked it juuuust enough that they don't look terrible in with classics deluxes, but they still don't really work that well outside of legends/legion and cybverse commanders/new legends. This thing looks like a proper sized classics devastator.
Is it weird that my feelings about this are both "this thing's waaaay too big for me" and "I want it because it's so big!" at the same time?

Yeah, I'll definitely forgive the individual figures any lack of decent articulation for all that bulk.

Thanks Big Phil. I wonder how much more the SDCC one will be over the 'regular' Devastator? 'Cos that does look like the superior version.

Another size comparison shot on Twitter: Get to dah Twittahs!Given I don't own any of the other combiners yet, this is much better for me for gauging his size. And bugger me, he is truly monstrous. I must have him!

Thanks Big Phil. I wonder how much more the SDCC one will be over the 'regular' Devastator? 'Cos that does look like the superior version. SDCC Metroplex cost $150(£100) a the con or from Hasbro Toystore if you could get one. So it wasn't massively more than the retail one which I think was about $125. Secondary market price was more. I think places like Kapow probably had it at £200 (or maybe £250, but that seems too much might be thinking of US sellers) at AA in 2013. Theres was also a Japanese exclusve that was more or less identacal to the SDCC one. I'd imagine Devastator will be similar.
