Aye. It's those holes that really worry me. I honestly wasn't too fussed about the minicon, since it seemed unobtrusive. But now seeing the gimmick... Yes 3P, neck plugs, please!

I had hoped we could go a whole day before demanding 3p add-ons but a toy just announced less than 48 hours ago.

I think that's part and parcel of this hobby these days, it's always about what you haven't got. I know that from bitter experience.

Ralph: you missed Andu talking about the missing Butflap then Hasbro have left that out so the 3P companies can get in on that. Andy

Now that there's licensed add-ons through Shapeways as well, there's no reason folks shouldn't start asking about extras for toys that are in the pipeline. The more buzz there is for certain parts, the more likely it is someone's going to have a go at producing them.

Damn damn damn damn damn. I want to resist and hopes that he hits the stores over here. But... he's Wave 3. That's not going to happen, is it..?
Also, slightly miffed to discover that Ambus can't ride inside the cab in vehicle mode. That kind of defeats the point of him being the secret core of Ultra Magnus. Ah well. It's not going to stop me.

Hang-on, so you have to removed Minimal Aptitude BEFORE you transform Magnus to vehicle mode?!

Who's the first wave of leaders? Thundercracker? Thundercracker then the Megatron brothers in wave 2. The Megatrons will shift without difficulty I reckon, since there hasn't been a good wide-release Megatron since, what, Animated? The Thundercrackers however... I don't think any brick 'n' mortars stocked Jetfire so it's the first time out for that mould for most shoppers. We might be okay. Combiner Wars seems to be doing pretty well so far.

Thundercracker is wave two, the Megatrons are wave one. Jetfire's counted as Thrilling 30.

I fear we won't get Magnus. Shifting 2 Leader Megs in the same case will cause a shelfwarming event horizon.

Be interesting to see. If Generations was still the sole domain of TRU then I'd discount us even seeing Megatron, but now there are so many outlets for them *someone* might bite. But we need to see Megatron in shops first. If he's now starting to appear at retail in the US we should know sooner rather than later... Perhaps because the leaders don't combine and therefore aren't part of the play pattern the Legends/Deluxes/Voyagers have they may get passed over.

What concerns me is that I haven't seen any Voyagers in supermarkets yet. Just the legends and deluxe dudes. I can see the line stiffing if the big toys they are designed to combine with aren't as easily available.

Tis very true. And Windcharger and Thundercracker are already shelfwarming in my Asda. No Bombshells to be seen.

Post Christmas the toy sections are always shrunk down, I think we are still in the middle of that. Hopefully as we get nearer to Easter the ranges will increase. My Asda still has no CW, though I have finally seen RID in there.
I'm going to hold off on Magnus till I see Takaras version. As it will hopefully reach UK retail I feel the risk is worth it.

Jetfire was solid cased too. But Jetfire has more character clout then Thunderwing, was the first Leader and the first shot at the Jet mould.
Thundercracker's a remould and not such an important character. I'm skipping it.

I've never understood cases and waves and the thinking that Hasbro seem to have regarding them. Why not put more toys out there all at once, but keep releasing them a few times? So, you'd have all the Aerialbots and all the Stunticons, Prime, G1 Megatron and Jetfire released all at once as one big wave, but then that wave is released again instead of a 'wave 2'. Then you'd move onto the Protectobots, Combaticons, Armada Megatron, and whom ever else as the second release. Wouldn't that work? Maybe it wouldn't. I fix people not, er, toy line distribution.

And back on topic, what's the score with Mulbus Ambiot during Ultra Magnus's transformation? Does/can he remain in his little house during transformation?

I think the answer to that these days is logistics. In the interview I linked on the CW thread one of the questions was why did wave one have a solo Stunticon in it, and the answer was that those four Deluxe moulds were the first four ready to go, so there'd have been a delay if they waited for the final jet. Whether you want to believe that or not is another matter, but if that's true - trying to get the whole lot ready in one go would cause a huge delay to actually releasing them. Must all be different now to the G1 days.

For Ian's idea to work you'd need larger case sizes.
Legends & Deluxes are packed in 8s, Voyagers in 4s and Leaders in 2s (I think)
Having two combiner teams out at once would mean 8 deluxes out at once which would in turn mean an entire case would sell to one person.
IF The Leaders are in pairs per case still then a solid case won't be as bad as the 4 per case Scavenger/Thundercracker/Skywarp Armada assortments.
