I've never understood cases and waves and the thinking that Hasbro seem to have regarding them. Why not put more toys out there all at once, but keep releasing them a few times? So, you'd have all the Aerialbots and all the Stunticons, Prime, G1 Megatron and Jetfire released all at once as one big wave, but then that wave is released again instead of a 'wave 2'. Then you'd move onto the Protectobots, Combaticons, Armada Megatron, and whom ever else as the second release. Wouldn't that work? Maybe it wouldn't. I fix people not, er, toy line distribution. I think the answer to that these days is logistics. In the interview I linked on the CW thread one of the questions was why did wave one have a solo Stunticon in it, and the answer was that those four Deluxe moulds were the first four ready to go, so there'd have been a delay if they waited for the final jet. Whether you want to believe that or not is another matter, but if that's true - trying to get the whole lot ready in one go would cause a huge delay to actually releasing them. Must all be different now to the G1 days. Hmmm, yes that's very interesting. If, as you say, it is true, there must be a quite significant time factor involved regarding design, development, manufacture, packaging etc etc.

For Ian's idea to work you'd need larger case sizes. Legends & Deluxes are packed in 8s, Voyagers in 4s and Leaders in 2s (I think) Having two combiner teams out at once would mean 8 deluxes out at once which would in turn mean an entire case would sell to one person. IF The Leaders are in pairs per case still then a solid case won't be as bad as the 4 per case Scavenger/Thundercracker/Skywarp Armada assortments. Hmmm. Yes. Logistics is the key constraint. Some big cases would sell though. Crazy folks like us would buy the limb cases by the, well, case-load.

Yikes! What's the difference to today? Smaller toys back then I suppose.

Stores apparently want smaller case assortments refreshed more frequently.

Well the stores can go to hell! Hasbro, I'm sorry if I've misjudged you... *feels the rush of 'Bulldozer Syndrome'* @£ You, Hasbro you %£#@%$£!!!! (but thanks for Combiner Wars so far, good job).

May also be that back in '86 Transformers was a much bigger thing than it is these days. They were the hot toys to have, and Hasbro were reusing existing moulds. In effect the whole TF line at that point was repaints.

It would be a heavy remold, but, yeah, not impossible...
...and then a Machine Wars Optimus repaint!
Because this line doesn't have enough Optimus-related repaints.

Manimus is removed and ends up sitting on Magnus's trailer bed in vehicle mode Sorry Phil only just spotted you'd answered my query. I have to say though, I think it's a bit crap you have to remove Minimal Abolation to transform Magnus! Bit of a disapointment that!

I've not pre-ordered it yet, but then I also have agents in the colonies that may be able to help me out with this. Provided that distribution in said colonies is actually half-decent. Decisions...

I also have agents in the colonies.. Hail Hydra? I haven't preordered yet. I am still deliberating things at the moment. Yes, I know I run the risk that there will be no pre-orders left, but t'is an occupational hazard... Karl

Its a mass release toy so I figure worst case it should appear on Amazon.com for a not unreasonable amount.
Ditto Devastator, which if its like Metroplex will cost less posted via Amazon than UK retail.

I too contemplate pre-ordering. The price is reasonable for what it is and I doubt I will see it on UK shelves. It also hits a lot of buttons for me. Just a case of seeing if I can budget for it.

How plausible would a Powermaster Optimus remold be, I wonder. Looking at it, I know it's possible. But just not sure about plausibility, as Hasbro said there's a threshhold. If more than a certain percentage of a remold has to be new, then it becomes less worthwhile, compaired to making a whole new mold.

Hmmm good question. You'd have to change a heck of a lot of the truck mode to more resemble Prime. And Hi-Q should become the engine in truck mode.

Not nessisarily. Hi-Q intigrating inside the cab ala whatsisname, would be a fitting nod to the finale of the marvel series. It also still works in the vein of the powermaster core concept.
Truth be told, I'm personally more interested in getting the robot to look like PM Optimus than the trailer.
