Legends Kup fault and fix:
Now I've seen it I've found the same fault on TR Kup and Orion Pax. The panel to the rear of the sides has a groove running down it which doesn't align with the groove on the rest of the side!

Well that's a nightmare that I'd never even noticed before. Glad to have had that brought to my attention...
In happier news though, the Rodimus Prime Titan Master works so much better on Legends Hot Rod. Behold!

Where's my fishing rod... Ah yes. Clear evidence that the Autobot Targetmasters were planned and then dropped! I don't understand. -Ralph

I once did some fanart of Pointblank fishing with Peacemaker. For the record.

Haha, no, never been that kind of fan artist!
I'd be surprised if there wasn't been something along those lines out there though...

Surely it should have been Grand Maximus and Sixknight in 2018!
A couple of months ago I would have been interested in Greatshot, but now I need Sixknight! Maybe I can locate a Quickswitch split out from the box-set...

I could go a Greatshot just as a curio piece. Nice deco.

I have to say that the Greatshot isn't really doing much for me. He isn't a character I have much attachment to - put me down as another who would have preferred Sixknight.
The Max redecoed in Grand Maximus colours is very nice. Looks better than it did as Fortress. (But then, that is consistent with the original Fortress too).

Hmm. Might save for that. I'd go a bit over the usual sixty for an exclusive from the Sixshot mould.

A small increase. New shoulders, new beast head which are differently coloured so on different sprues... Yeah I can see why that's a few quid more. I may have underdone my new parts estimate. In addition to those listed there's also the robot helmet & face, robot chest & 2 x chest wings and beast head horn. That's at least 3 new sprues of material, assuming the horn is painted.

Sooo, I've had a very 1986/87 day. My HLJ and BBTS orders came in bringing to me three Legends Sharkticons+Sweeps, Legends Kup, Legends Hotrod, and PE Core Magnus (CW Ultra Magnus cab robot). And Overlord, but that's outside this wheelhouse.
Sharkticons look GREAT. Love the deco more than TR Gnaw. Sweeps doesn't look great on a TR Scourge, mainly because the white arms reeeeeally stick out. Contemplating swapping the arms between Fracas and Sweeps. Hotrod's deco looks way better in person, but the chest does not. It was a friggin' weird choice to make it transluscent, and the flame be unpainted. Also sticks up too much and hides his head. Kup is a significant improvement over TR. the new tooling is way better, and so is the deco. The weird proportions though still kill it.

I really like the translucent chest. But I agree that whilst the rotating engine gimmick is kinda neat, it does end up hiding half the head. They could've done that differently.

Having sat on these for a while, I've got some new opinions on Hotrod and his targetmaster.
I'm generally not a big fan of the original targetmasters (weapon accessories, not the main robot), largely because they don't make convincing guns. They were these giant cubes with a small barrel, and were half the size of the main figure's chest. And as mini-figures, they were boring as hell. Bland sculpted details, and no real colors. The "small" Targetmasters were both better and worse, if that makes sense. They were more visually interesting as robots, and they were more convincing guns. However, they were "lay down to become a gun" transformation. (I still prefer them over the originals, though).
Now we've had the targetmaster concept explored a dozen times since G1. Armada cranked out a few minicons that were awesome guns, great robots, and still managed a third mode. Some if the micromaster update minicons from the Legends 2-packs did a decent job. But it seemed like every time the original targetmaster nebulons were homaged or updated, they were pretty much the same as the originals, only with shoulder joints: boring sculpts, bland decos, and oversized and unconvincing guns.
Fast forward to these guys, Kup and Hotrod's partners. These two are almost the opposites of the originals. In robot mode, the sculpting is fantastic. They are both fully painted to bring out the details, but done in a way that isn't unfaithful to the originals. The transformations are simple and straight forward, but are also really fun and different. It's a bit more that "fold at the waist." The gun mode still rings true to the originals, while bringing quite a bit new to the plate. Again, paint helps. Sculpting is phenomenal. And the proportions aren't ridiculous. They do a significantly better job at presenting as a believable gun, than Universe Cyclonus', MP Rodimus', or Generations Scoops targetmaster partners. Add to this, they both have a 5mm port on the underside of their barrels, and their transformation allows this to be repositioned to the top, so you can combine other weapons with it. They also have titanmaster pegs on them, which I didn't expect. They look huge in photos, but they're honestly not a lot bigger than titanmasters. As someone on here said, size wise, they look like a Titanmaster armored up.
As for Hotrod, I have new thoughts. I like the general deco better than TR. It looks weird in photos, like he's purple. But he's really not. He's closer to the tomato soup red of Animated Rodimus, than he is the purple he looks in photos. But it's an odd shade that doesn't photograph as well as some of Takara's other hotrods. His new chest is his most defining feature, and honestly I like it better than TR's. But it's not without it's own issues. The big one being the flipping engine. In robot, it hides the face more than hasbro's. In vehicle, it's really unsightly, with a deep very visible cavity between it and the canopy. As long as it took them to get this out, I really wish they had addressed this. I feel like there's little reason the engine flip piece couldn't have been sculpted differently to address both these issues, without really changing the functionality as it exists now. Barring that, the canopy should have been redesigned to extend over this gap.
More of a nitpick- I feel they should have ignored being G1 accurate on attaching the targetmaster to the engine. That big port looks awful in vehicle, without it. It doesn't look great with the gun attacked, and the hinge itself isn't strong. So when the gun *is* attached, it leans down. Putting a port just in front of the spoiler on the roof would have been a much more solud, and visually appealing place for the gun.
