Yeah, it looks daft enough, the colours aren't G2 but the sense of ridiculousness most definitely is.

A silhouette!!! In 2016!!!!! -Ralph Yeah, but I don't view these silhouettes as being release news. What they've been for with this line is to tell us to expect the full image in a few days. It's like a teaser trailer coming before an actual trailer.

I wonder if they'll include Grimlocks brain transfer helmet with Computron or if I'll need to go trawling eBay for one from the Takara MP Grimlock.

Space shuttle! Four blade Vortex! Hooray!
Ratchet also suddenly looks better. Perhaps it's just photographed with more flair.

So... I know that's pixelated but those proportions on Blast Off say totally new mould to me. Does look more Groove style than the standard moulds.
Very nice. June!

That Blastoff is butt ugly. And not only is it ugly, it looks nothing like him. So glad for the slingshot repaint.

That's a bit harsh, but I can see where you might be coming from. I think if you were expecting it to look like the G1 toy you were on a hiding to nothing. www.tfu.info/1986/Decepticon/Blast-Off/blast-off.htmTakara's shown all along that they're going big on animation likenesses where they can here, hence some of their colour choices up till now, which in turn gives me the fear about where they're going with the colours of Bruticus' chest armour tfwiki.net/wiki/Bruticus_%28G1%29#The_Transformers_cartoonYou can trace lots of Blast Off's major design features in robot mode to the new version, in particular the shuttle engines for feet, which I've never liked, and the three windows on the chest, though the panel they're mounted on looks the other way up to the animation model. The head looks OK but you can't see enough of the arms to be sure how well the odd curved design of the animation armour has translated there. To my eyes it's the animation robot they were aiming for and have done OK there. The arms are the boosters down the side of the shuttle and appear to have 5mm fist holes as well as (hopefully) 5mm holes on the end. The shuttle's tail fin looks to be a removable piece: the back of the legs shows a peg hole on each leg. How many engines does the rear of the animation shuttle have? Anyone got a picture? If anything the shuttle, especially the back, looks too square and reminds me of Broadside. I can't help feeling that they could have got a similar result from mass retooling Alpha Bravo and going for a more accurate shuttle. But there again NASA might be inforcing it's image rights on the shuttle these days....

Again, I'm not impressed by this. Not that I was going to buy the Combaticons anyway, but I think I'd just go for the Hasbro version given that. I won't go as far as CJ in how ugly I think it is, but the arms just being sat on the side of the shuttle really kill it for me.
That said, I'm sure that loads of people are going to love this. So hurrah for Takara, and hurrah for choice! :-)

Oh dear. That does not look good. That does not remind me of Blast Off at all. Oh well!
Love how the page shouts about it being number 1.

When I saw them as adults, the combatacon animation models were the most alien and unrecognizable transformers I'd ever seen. They looked horribly wrong, and looked nothing like the characters we had in comics and toys for 20 years.
Seeing this blastoff is like a suckerpunch, to me.
That said, being the most alien and non-realistic vehicle CW has given us, it might do well as a pre-beast

I think like Groove it stands out because it doesn't fit the uniform style of all the Hasbro moulds. It will also look better coloured, these grey prototypes always do. I'm going to get this and kinda wish now I'd done Defensor this way too. It might seem a bit way out, but more importantly it's a new mould, and the ensemble display needs them.
I share Phil's concerns on the breast plate though. Almost enough to buy a Hasbro one to swap out the part.

I like it. I had a more toy-inspired design in mind because that looms far larger in my memory than the cartoon, but I think this looks nice.
It isn't MP, so the fact that it is a fictionalised shuttle with additional booster things on the side isn't a problem for me - if anything, it adds something! You can argue lazy engineering or something, but if it looks cool then whatever.
One of the things I love about Blast Off is the colour scheme, so I'm looking forward to seeing him in his full glory!
