Sweet!
He's okay. He looks bugger all like the original Blast Off toy, but then so did his animation model which this is based on. As long as Takara fix the Brawl mould I'll be happy.

Is Grand Galvatron up for preorder? And does anyone know what UW Defensor goes for? They are the two must have UW sets for me. The former because is radio rental and the katter because I played with Nick and once more he is costing me money.

When I saw them as adults, the combatacon animation models were the most alien and unrecognizable transformers I'd ever seen. They looked horribly wrong, and looked nothing like the characters we had in comics and toys for 20 years. Seeing this blastoff is like a suckerpunch, to me. That said, being the most alien and non-realistic vehicle CW has given us, it might do well as a pre-beast The comics used the animation models for the combaticons as well, so really it's just the original toy that's odd man out. I really like him.

That's not a bad price - about what it would cost to get the UK version seperately at Argos. That said, I'm not really feeling that Blast Off at all. It is fairly academic, but I probably wouldn't be tempted by it even if I was buying much more Combiner Wars stuff this year. Karl

However Defensor is £115 on TFSExpress, and they also have a preorder up for Grand Galvatron at £100. Now Kapow have set Bruticus at £100 I expect TFSExpress will be £90.

Hmmmm. That's not bad at all for Grand Galvatron. I may have to speak to one of my agents.

RFC made an interesting point about this figure. Like Phil said above, they noted the tail fin detaches because in robot mode it sits over the combiner peg and there are holes for it to fit into in shuttle mode, seen on the bottom of the back of the robot legs. They were wondering if the back of the robot has been deliberately sculpted to have a second robot chest because it looks more refined and finished than the others. Then you could make the figure look better matched to the other CW Deluxes by removing the tail fin, rotating the torso 180 degrees and swapping the arms over.

The back *does* look more toy-like. Arms would still be horribly wrong. Could live with the wrong legs, but the arms are better as part of the front of the shuttle.

*colour fear* *colour fear*
Please say I don't have to buy *both* versions of this one just to get a shuttle and toy colour accuracy on Onslaught.

I think it's nice if both sets are quite different, it makes people who really want the shuttle but got the earlier US release less bad about buying both.

I think it's great that the Japanese version looks noticably different but for a logical reason (ie cartoon accuracy). I mean just imagine how narked you'd be if you wanted Defensor with Groove and had already got the US one (they were the same apart from that, weren't they?)

There's numerous other deco differences including Hotspot's shade of blue, the ladder colour, the cherry picker sides, Streetwise's colour, where the red is on Blades. There also seems to have been something done to the Defensor chest as it holds together MUCH better on my Japanese version than it does on my US one.

I had a shot of Nick's UW Defensor and after I agreed it did indeed have many differences and was a fabulous thing I killed him to death and stole it. -Ralph

Kapow have had one up for a while. I think we think this is a general release toy in Japan so HLJ might have it ....

So I'm thinking about this. I want Unite for the better finish and Blast Off done properly. But I need CW Onslaught for the silver chest... Swindle and Brawl for the silver feet... And Blast Off for the sake of completeness because he can be an entirely different character.
Hrm.
