Where were these toys announced? -Ralph I didn't say they were, the question was that's what's missing But at the same time, when Hasbro have done 95% of the Headmasters, it is not crazy to believe that at some point in the planning they were wanting to do 100%. Especially when we know that wave 6 only has one new figure in, maybe that's when they were planned. No-one plans for something to be incomplete or plans for waves of repaints. That's driven by market forces.

I still don't understand how folk can regard TR as incomplete. Citing toys from a previous toy line that are not included in TR doesn't help.

I'd give up then to be honest. We get your point; we're just theorizing.

That's driven by market forces. They do seem to be playing a long game with some of these. The Minibots have been fairly consistant across multiple lines and where they could do better there have been updates, Bumblebee for example. Insecticons have been released over 3 lines so far. And now are expanding in to throttlebots and Duocons. Combiners will take a couple of steps closer to completion with POTP, and Seascons and Monstructor from the existing mould now seem likely further down the line. That just leaves Raiden and micromaster combiners from G1. It also looks like CW autobot cars could now be finished. All 6 jets and Slipstream in voyager torso form may take a while, but is certainly possible. Getaway in TR seems a bit odd now since pretty much any Autobot car would have made at least as much sense from that mould.

it does seem fairly random as to who they choose from the more non huge fandom characters

I imagine TR got Getaway because he has been a prominent character in MTMTE recently.

Breaking the retail deluxes down by origin makes interesting reading: roughly 1/3 Headmaster, 1/3 Targetmaster and 1/3 other: Skullsmasher with Grax | Headmaster | Hardhead with Furos | Headmaster | Highbrow with Xort | Headmaster | Chromedome with Stylor | Headmaster | Mindwipe with Vorath | Headmaster | Wolfwire with Monxo | Headmaster | Brainstorm with Teslor | Headmaster | Blurr with Hyperfire | Targetmaster | Scourge with Fracas | Targetmaster | Hot Rod with Firedrive | Targetmaster | Triggerhappy with Blowpipe | Targetmaster | Sergeant Kup with Flintlock | Targetmaster | Quake with Chasm | Targetmaster | Misfire with Aimless | Targetmaster | Slugslinger with Caliburst | Targetmaster | Twinferno with Daburu | | Breakaway with Throttle | | Perceptor with Convex | | Topspin with Freezeout | | Krok with Gatorface | | Twintwist with Flameout | | Windblade with Scorchfire | |

Twinferno's kind of believable because he's an 87 character along with the head and Targetmasters.
Getaway is a Powermaster and there's two other Powermasters in larger TR toys and a general "all masters are Titanmasters" theme and he's been prominent in MTMTE.
Krok's an obvious repaint given the name.
That leaves Perceptor, poor previous toy with the wrong alt mode, Topspin & Twintwist, not done wreckers, and the ever popular Windblade

It's exactly the same way that CW will forever be incomplete to the people who cared about G2, because they didn't do G2 Defensor, even though they did G2 Superion, Menasor, and Bruticus.

I see nothing wrong with wanting a complete set, especially with a line that trades primarily on being a nostalgia line aimed at collectors. It's different than say, the homages peppered within RiD.

Oh gosh, incomplete sets drive me BONKERS.
BONKERS!!!!!
Lordy Lordy, when I think back, over the years, of the sets that have been denied me. Remember when I only had 2 Gen Legends Insecticons? Nnnnnnngghh.

So I have the windblade wave, and my first thought upon having the third brand new windblade mold in a row is this: WHAT THE HELL POSSESSED HASBRO TO MAKE NAUTICA A HALFASSED REPAINT OF BLURR, INSTEAD OF FROM A MINOR RETOOL OF WINDBLADE?!? Seriously... change the wings (keep the fans), the nosecone, and face and it'd be a much more passable Nautica than blurr ever could be! Actually, the Scourge mold really would be the perfect retool base for Nautica. About the best you'd get without making a new mold from scratch.

Scourge and Highbrow are both way too bulky to be Nautica though. Huge broad chests.
If she wasn't getting a new mold, I guess the smaller Blurr is the best remold we could get.
It's killing me I can't get her at all though...

As a straight repaint scourge is too bulky. But changing the torso would be part of the retool.

Without wishing to blow my own trumpet (since that would require surgery), but...
Do you want a G1 Marvel-accurate Blaster? Well simply pick up Quickswitch as well, and:
Tada!

I got my seige of cybertron set.
Pounce clone is best clone
Triggerhappy was not meant to be Metalhawk, because the amount of paint needed to make him be Metalhawk is mindblowing, and he alone takes most of the paint budget.
Magnus Prime is pretty bad. The Takara remolds are terrible and actually negatively impact the functionality of the toy. That said, the part I thought WOULD be the problem- the panels hanging off the arm not being flush, actually arn't an issue at all, and are more solid than PMOP. I find all the issues come from the new feet, and some with the new chest and cab bits.
Tidalwave is great, but would be better in proper Tidalwave colors.
I like Thunderhead better than Rodimushead, too. It doesn't feel as redundant. Though his own mini robot head- IE the connecting piece, is fully painted. Any attempt to use him as a head will damage it.

Popped out Twist Twist to stick him with his brother. Obviously he's not much different, but they do look good together. A lovely pair.

IDToys have Titan Master Nightbeat at £2.99.
As a consequence, I now have an army of Nightbeats.

Yeah, ouch. However I note the prices of the other figures in the case, Hot Rod, Kup & Hardhead, are reduced somewhat. However (again) TOY | COST | PACKED | TOTAL | Slugslinger | 34.99 | 3 | 104.97 | Hot Rod | 14.99 | 2 | 29.98 | Kup | 14.99 | 2 | 29.98 | Hardhead | 11.99 | 1 | 11.99 | Total | | | 176.92 | Ave Cost per figure | | | 22.12 |
Which indicates they are taking a bit more than the overll cost per figure for the rest of the line
