Thank you.
I was going to post asking if anyone had heard anything more about this series now that Combiner Wars is dead but I think my mind snapped.

Combiner Wars is still going as a toyline! It's far from being all over.

Well I watched the Prelude. Pretty bad! Very little actual animation and nowt more than Victorion doing that "I AM THE NEW AWESOME CHARACTER AND CAN DO ANYTHING!!!" shtick that always annoys me.

It's been mooted that the prelude isn't fully animated but the actual series is. Can't remember if that's fact or not.

It's a half-assed way of promoting it in my opinion.

Does seem stupid. I get they're trying to attract people to the service it's on to see the 'real' thing, but if the promo is naff no one has any incentive to go further.

It reminds me of the early days of DVD when they would put adverts for DVD on VHS releases and talk about the improved picture quality while showing you VHS footage. Stupid.

They have released the actual trailer for Combiner Wars
They seem to have accidently released a video of Cybertron clips though, r-right??
But it is kind of them to take the bullet by making sure no other Transformer production has to worry about having the worst Starscream voice

Well I checked Machinima's official youtube page and they have it up there so always best to watch something at the site where the folk who made it have put it up. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YHxMeGDdqsI have to say I thought it was hilarious. A scream to watch. Not the intent but I was entertained... The fight at the start was either a metatextual reference to how many young children actually make their toy robots battle or just pretty damn unintentionally amusing. You decide! Considering this was originally meant for a phone app the animation is fine for that purpose. I wasn't expecting full TV broadcast standard. -Ralph

I think it's hard to tell from what is really a five minute intro. Do I recall this was eight parts? So will eventually make a 40 minute film? I'll judge it based on the end result. In the long run I can't see it being worse then most direct to video animated films.
Menasor's voice jarred though. Way too young sounding.

It wasn't great. That was a poor choice of voice to select for Menasor.

Very underwhelming. I was afraid it was gonna be one of these two or three minute "minisode" things. I hate those. There's no way you can actually do anything decent in that time frame. The animation honestly isn't that much worse than nuRiD. Though the random mouthflapping is distracting. Menasor's voice is the worst part. He needs someone with gravity and gravel in his voice. This voice sounds more appropriate for Hotrod.
And yeah, this was waaaaaaay too overhyped for what it actually is.

So um... Combiner Wars... yes. well... This pretty much fails to do anything to hook my interest or make me come back for more: {Spoiler}Spoiler
What on Earth are you watching?
We open on a big roundish thing in space which looks like some sort of asteroid or small moon, or possibly a planet. This is apparently called Caminus. It is orbited or is close to a sort of hoop-and-gubbins thing which crackles and shits out two robots. They are punching each other.
What is the thing that spits out robots? Who are the robots? Why are they fighting?
The robots fall towards the round body. The lack of any atmosphere suggests that asteroid or small moon is most likely. The robots continue to punch each other as they fall.
Why are they punching each other? Am I supposed to be siding with one or the other? And if so how am I supposed to know which side is which?
The robots keep punching each other as they fall into a city made of blue stone or something. One of the robots uses large words, the other one stamps on his head apparently killing him.
Someone won at least. Are they the heroes or the villains?
Two small aircraft arrive, they shoot unimpressive laser beams with 1980's videogame sound effects at the large robot. Then they turn into small robots. They fight with the large robot, one of the small robots gets injured.
Are these the good guys? Why are they attacking the large robots
There is some exposition to allow us to have lots of mostly-unanimated frames for purposes of budget. Apparently one of the small robots speaks to cities, but her city is not speaking to her.
There is more fighting, apparently the large robots are called Combiners and the Council want to build lots of them because they have something called an Enigma of Combination. The large robot is defeated by the small robot. It says that she is a killer, so she kills it with her sword. Then stamps a stiletto heel on the chest of the other large robot.
Why are the large punching robots called Combiners? Does that mean the small robots are not Combiners? Who are the Council? Why do they want to build lots of large robots that punch each other? Why is this a threat if one small robot with a sword can kill a large robot with a couple of strikes? Does that robots sword get additional pluses as she becomes angstier?
The purple glowing thing may be some sort of teleporter because we fly up to it then we cut to another purple glowy thing which is near another moon/asteroid/planet. This is apparently called Cybertron. On it there is a robot with red shoulders and a blue head.
This is apparently a good place to end an episode.
Why is the blue-headed robot supposed to be significant? Whose side is he on? How many sides are there? Why does the Council (who/whatever they are) want to make "Combiners" to punch each other? Why are the robots fighting, what is at stake? What is the plot? Are the supposed to be more episodes of this?
I'm sorry Ollie, I have no answers for you. If there are further episodes of this and you try to watch them I will kill you and eat you. (*)
Ollie, I'm sorry. I'm so, so, sorry
(*) - Leopards Plushi can absolutely do that. Have no doubts
