www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/comic-con-transformers-animated-series-807464Hasbro, the toy company-now-play brand, has partnered with the online gamer and video platform to produce a new animated series based on its Transformers: Combiner Wars line.
Combiner Wars is a storyline that has been playing out across Hasbro’s toys and IDW comic books for the past year and the upcoming Activision video game Transformers: Devastation.
Insiders say it’s the first time these many synergistic elements have been combined by Hasbro to tell an overall story.
Additionally, Habsro is giving something a segment of its large Transformers audience has been demanding for years, namely an animated series aimed at an older audience.
“Our audiences are huge fans of the toy, comics, movies and video games, and for us to continue the legend with the Combiner War is a unique story-telling opportunity,” said CCA Daniel Tibbets.
Said Hasbro’s senior vp of the Transformers franchise, Tom Warner: “(Machinima is) the perfect partner to help launch a totally new kind of Transformers animation—one that, for the first time ever, is specifically designed for the teen and adult fans who’ve grown up loving the Transformers brand.”
Without going to deep into the complexities of the Transformers universe, Combiner Wars saw groups of Transformers be able to combine into one giant robot, known as a Combiner. Superion and Menasor were among the new robots that held the fate of the Transformers’ homeworld Cybertron in their hands.

Successful machinima series (Red vs Blue, Freeman's Mind etc) tend to be nicely goofy and irreverent, but can turn on the drama taps when appropriate (season enders and such). I'm quite excited to see what comes of this!

I'm confused as to where this can be viewed. Is it a cartoon in a video game site thing? I just can't translate the corporate speak!

It would appear it is a YouTube channel - so it can be viewed on YouTube and also happens to be available on some consoles.
I have little confidence given their lack of "original" output, but I suppose you never know.

There are some excited Americans talking very quickly about it here:
If you look at their YouTube channel it seems they're running some original DC cartoon content at the moment which looks competent.

It's a what that can be watched on a what now?!?! It is a cartoon. It will be watchable on Youtube. Youtube can be watched on computers, on some videogame consoles (depending on your subscription terms for the consoles online services), on tablets and on the mobile telephones of those people who are more gadgeted up than myself. Machinima appears to be some sort of commercial concern who take their name from a term that was originally used to describe animated films made by hacking the editing tools in videogames to make them do things that they weren't originally meant for. ("Red vs Blue" is one of the more famous examples). Short version: It's a cartoon, that can be watched on the Internet. :-) Karl

Is this still happening with Hasbro seeming to have only about 1 set to reveal before the line ends. Why would you do a cartoon for last years line - surley it should feature TR stuff.

It's still happening, and it was kinda dumb at the time it was announced, for the reason you cite. CW will be over by the time this launches.

The whole thing should be a story about the CW line but no a story that introduce the line with the combined forms being something seen at the end. The cartoon series should end with FortMax being called in with the Masters.

According to tfw2005, they have just announced that the scripts have been finalised.
Uuuuuh good timing guys!! Unless there's a million episodes I guess so there's already ones far along in production, but I was under the impression it was going to be a handful. (70 mins total apparently)
And I'm pretty sure the entire thing will be some CGI fight scenes and 'witty' soundbyte dialogue so I have no idea how it could have taken this long.

The only way the timing of this series can still work is if the story directly leads into Titans Return.

At this rate it will start when Combiner Wars is over. They really should have either commissioned a Titans Return series or done a proper lead-in time!!

So its 8 * 7 minute episodes & it took them 6 months to write. Must have had writers block. But it might be that they had to write the episode so that it could be animated quick - which could mean that it just looks like a toy advert.

Preview image show stinkblade is going to be the main character, that could mean scott is writing it (we can expect some amazing stories then with the characters not being the same character from one minute to the next) but no word on that is true but would explain why he new IDW comic was delayed by 3 months if she was busy writing the CW cartoon. Now what is the go90?
Just seen some US fan comments & they don't link windblade either

I got really confused and thought you meant that RiD 2001 Predacon was the main character.
Why is a non-combiner wars character being put front and centre? It seems Hasbro really want to push Windblade hard for some reason.
Can't say I like her either. I mean I don't DISLIKE her, there's literally no character there so it's hard to fall down on either side for me!

US fans comments -
And Hasbro, stop shoving Windblade in our faces. Windblade: AM I POPULAR YET?!
I call the character stinkblade because you can't flush it away & it just keep floating back up again & written by scott (who we mostly agree can't write - bring back Shane)

Ahahaha it's being released on something called 'Go90' which is apparently a Verizon phone app in the US only. So uh, no chance of it being good then?
I don't think Scott is a bad writer. Just an unremarkable one. I enjoyed some of her stuff on the Windblade series but it never really went anywhere or did anything particularly interesting.

My sky box jammed the signal on Ultimate Spider-man 4.6 last weekend because it was written by scott.

It's a streaming app from one of the US phone companies - Verizon.
Basically CW is being shunted off somewhere now, far too late to be of any impact. Smacks of cutting their losses.

One of the writers is from MTV, another did MegaXLS & DC comics, the 3rd guy has only worked on 3 things.

I think this is going to sum up the series then
"Next, meet the heroine Windblade"
Should someone just check the line? It's combiner wars & we only have Metropex (Titan) & windblade - both who just happen not to be part fo the CW toy line only listed. Ok, Hasbro could use this to try to sell Metroplex toys.
