I think this is a unique and clever booking. Wonder if he'll have some decent prototype sketches for sale Well to be fair, he was at RORC last year so we can't lay claim to being that clever, although we are delighted to have Emilio here at TFNation this year. Andy (clears throat)last three years(/clearing throat) Emiliano is an amazing guest who has given so much to the Transformers brand working across more areas than most would ever get the chance, comics, book illustration, movie concept design and toy design. One big piece of advice for anyone going, Emiliano's sketches are insanely good and he can only do so many a day where he puts so much into them, so if this something you are looking to add to your collection, please get in there quick

Transmission Initiated Transmission ID: 000021 TFNation_2016 Operation: Target 2016 We are honoured to announce that Simon Furman, one of the most significant contributors to Transformers and its rich mythos, will be joining us for our inaugural convention! It really does feel right for somebody who has worked so hard from the Cybertronian's earliest days be here with us to celebrate the bold new era of TFNation. We would keep you here all day if we were to list Simon's complete Transformers credits. Much of his work comprises the bedrock of the comics, animation and films we all enjoy today. Simon's writing has stood the test of time and his work is still held in high regard today. He has worked for the successive publishers Marvel, Dreamwave and IDW. Simon has also lent his comic talents to many other titles including Scream, Thundercats, Alpha Flight, Doctor Who, as well as co-creating Dragon's Claws and of course a certain Freelance Peacekeeping Agent who Marvel keep teasing may return... In addition to his writing, Simon also served as an editor for Marvel UK and Titan Books. Away from comics, Simon has been involved in the world of animation from Beast Wars, X-Men: Evolution, Dan Dare to most recently serving as both Head Writer and Script Editor for CITV's The Matt Hatter Chronicles. Over the course of the weekend, you will have the opportunity to hear more about this storied career from the man himself and in much greater detail. To keep up with Simon's current work, he maintains a blog over at: simonfurman.wordpress.comSimon will be signing autographs and selling comics and script packs from Friday 19th until Sunday 21st August 2016 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at TFNation 2016. We look forward to seeing you there! Further transmissions to follow. TFNation Where All Are One End_transmission

Does anyone know if there is an over flow car park for the Hilton. It didn't help last year with that black car parked near the entrance taking up 2 spaces, but i'm not sure if an overflow car park was set up. Only 700 parking spaces on site but then you see all those other car parks just across the road but how much does it cost to park in those?
Seen this online & also talk that this car park is free - but how far because all the areas around there look like a car park but some have barriers.
The car park was full but the hotel had positioned a very polite young man to explain why and direct us to the overflow car park the other side of the roundabout.
I'm expecting that it is the E carparks at £12 a day parking - so £3 less than Hilton.

You know in the row of cars that are parked against that wall that is to your left when you drive in. A car was parked 3rd from the left end but nicely parked so it was taking up 2 spaces for the whole friday afternoon to sunday when I left. If 50 people did that then that is 100 car spaces taken up by 50 cars.

there were quite a few spaces in the Hilton up on the raised area at the back but I did arrive late Friday.

THE FORGE
The TFNation crew recently teased a new convention area known as THE FORGE and the positive feedback from our supporters has been extremely gratifying. Today, we are revealing more about the concept, answering some of your questions and covering some other aspects of the convention that The Forge will affect.
The Forge is TFNation's home for fan art and crafts, creating a specific area for our creative attendees to promote and display their work.
Applications will be open to all weekend attendees aged 18 and above, though table space will be limited, in our first year. For ease of organisation, we have divided the area into two sections, please take a moment to read the below breakdown of these sections.
Section 1 – Forge Craft Tables
- For attendees to promote and display any hand-made craft items.
- Tables cost £20.00.
- Tables are only available to attendees who have purchased a weekend ticket.
- Some crafters produce art prints of their creations. We are happy to allow these, however toys, sketches and art commissions may not be sold here. This is to protect our artists and traders who have invested a lot of time and money into their stalls.
Section 2 - Forge Artist Alley Tables
- For attendees to promote and display any art prints, sketches and art commissions.
- Tables cost £20.00.
- Tables are only available to attendees who have purchased a weekend ticket.
- Toys and craft goods may not be sold here. Again, this is to protect our traders and crafters.
All tables will need to be staffed by the person(s) who paid for them. This is to ensure the safety of your stock and our attendees. The TFNation crew are unable to staff tables.
No fan sales tables … for now
For now, TFNation has taken the decision not to offer a fan sales table (that is, a table where fans may drop off their unwanted toys for sale) at the 2016 event. We will continue to look into the logistics and legality of this area and, if a manageable solution can be found, we will be happy to embrace it in the future. For the time being, people wanting to sell toys must purchase one of our trader tables.
For the protection of all people purchasing tables, the sale of toys, crafts and artwork in public areas of the hotel will not be allowed. This is both to adhere to hotel rules (and in some instances, licensing laws) and also to ensure that the system is fair for those who have paid for a table in good faith.
Additional information regarding The Forge, including how to book, will be released in the coming weeks so keep your optics ready for further Transmissions and TFN Declassified posts.

Transmission Initiated Transmission ID: 000025 TFNation_2016 Operation: Forbidden Planet Takeover
For the entire month of May, TFNation is taking over Forbidden Planet stores across the country - and we want YOU to be a part of it!
We will be transforming storefronts in Birmingham, Bristol, London, Cambridge, Coventry, Croydon, Liverpool, Newcastle and Southampton -and we need YOUR help to see it unfold!
To highlight how strong this community is, we are initiating Operation:Selfie. We want to see your pictures in front of our giant store displays and with our limited edition FP carrier bags. Please upload your selfies to social media sites using the hashtags #TFNselfie and #TFNation to join in the fun!
As a thank you to those of you willing to take up the challenge... look carefully, and you might just spot an exclusive reveal in store windows.
More announcements coming soon as things get serious during TFN:May-hem!
Further transmissions to follow.

There are actually two chains of Forbidden Planet. - Forbidden Planet and Forbidden Planet Interational. The Leeds one, like the ones in Scotland are part of FPI.
It's a tad confusing at times.

I am confused, have Forbidden Planet got some sort of exclusive deal? No, it's a simple business clash of interests for me. All the TFNation social media and internet stuff is telling people to go to my main competitor. I can't support a campaign that does that, so I can't have their flyers.

That's perfectly reasonable and understandable James.

Of course, makes sense to advertise with a nationwide chain of stores, just a shame it was FP and not FPI.

after some investigations, apparently the TFNation windows in forbidden planet have a possible spoiler on a guests name??
as previously stated a suitable forbidden planet isn't near me so I cant tell you anymore or even if this is the truth, just a rumour i've been hearing!
