I was weeping too hard to post... too many tears... couldn't see the screen...
You're all so lucky. You bastards.
Entire rooms for your toys. Wives that don't hate action figures....
You....
bastards....

Right, I am officially at maximum capacity. Time to start curating and having things on display in rotation. Eugh just when I was hoping to start clearing out packaging, stuff needs to be put away in the loft. In winter, when it's cool enough to bear being in there for any time.

Yesterday I condensed my Bayverse figures so they'd fit in one of the packing boxes I use. They ain't getting any more space than that. Meant sticking a few figures on the get rid pile, but I've come to the conclusion now I'm done with that style of figure. Not getting any more. That happened because I opened up Movie THE BEST Nemesis Prime, which is an absolutely gorgeous figure - beautifully executed, exquisite design and full of lovely clicky ratchets, but I just can't get excited by it.

Meanwhile all the boxes for Pottop are sat on the carpet waiting for me to get irritated enough with them to chuck them. I think bog standard retail packaging for figures that have been opened has to go. I just need to actually do it...

Steel yourself and do it. As the cliche goes, the first time is the most difficult - it gets easier after that.
At least, that is certainly what I found when I first started getting rid of packaging. I had to take a mental run-up the first time I got rid of a pile of boxes, but these days if I end up buying something boxed at a convention (not that common at the last couple of TFNs) the packaging is unlikely to make it out of the hotel. It is easier to just open stuff and put them in the case loose than haul the packaging home only to dispose of it later.

For any 'Prime Wars' figures I got the only packaging I have retained are the little collector cards that come with them and the instruction booklets. -Ralph

Likewise. Aside of course from Toilet Troop Primal's throne and packaging, of course.
I have actually been tempted to keep some of the cardbacks from these ones, actually - the artwork has been particularly good in this line, I've thought. But that way madness lies! And also I'm really crap at removing the plastic bubbles carefully. So I've not.

Eep.
Done it. First steps. PotP packaging in the recycling bin. Deluxe backing cards/bubbles, Voyager & Leader boxes/inserts/plastic.
Each figure now has a ziplock bag with their accessories, instructions and the collector card to ID the bag.
Ooh, I feel dizzy. This doesn't feel right!

All of my toys just go in random boxes. There is no order to them. Accessories tend to vanish. The paperwork is randomly stuffed into a drawer.
Robots are not grouped in any order or series on shelves. They go up randomly as they are bought.
What may draw forth even larger gasps of horror is that when I am done with a Lego set the bricks are broken down and randomly mixed in with other bricks. I keep the instructions but they are all over the Burns cave in random places.

My initial reaction to this was one of horror at such disorganized behaviour, but then I thought, how much time would I save if I did that?
I bet Ralph doesn't have a spreadsheet. Which is not a bad thing. Ralph doesn't feel the need for a spreadsheet. Would my life be any different without a spreadsheet?

Comics and books are random too. The other thing I have organised properly are the Doctor Who DVD's which of course are in broadcast order though Marvel Epic Collection books will be shelved properly as my set of them grows.
Ralph does not have spreadsheets. He never uses them for they are over complicated things of evil!

After all, one needs all the bricks in one place for when one comes to build something new. Far easier than having to rummage in a hundred and one bags for the right brick. Karl

tmukhub.proboards.com/post/333593/threadPlanning permission has set things in motion. I have a new plug for the loft's light as that needs doing. But today has been mainly spent moving books. The Epic Collections have migrated upstairs to the bedroom, so they won't need moving when the Library regenerates into Bathroom II/The Danger Room Because the middle unit of my 3 shelves was now empty, the Essentials have moved up on unit from the far one where I couldn't reach them. A slight snag in that there turned out to be FIVE shelves of them rather than the three I thought! But job done.
