Never buy MPs from BBTS, unless you're a US resident like Mr Jetty, use either a Japan local like HLJ or a UK local like Kapow.
BBTS are guessing on the price. Won't be more than Star Sabre which was sub £100

SHOCKWAVE!
Oh wow, we thought we'd never see the day!
He looks very nice, but as CJ says, a bit under-detailed. Early days though. How tall is he? Is he short or is Hot Rod v2 just tall?
Gotta say though, Quakewave still wins it for me, although it is indeed early days. I do like his head though.
(STILL no Megatron, what a joke)

I actually prefer Quakewave's head, but I like the proportions on Shockwave more. I always felt Quakewave's chest was too narrow. The legs, as Andy said, are more "on-model" as well. They look a bit of a faff with those pins in the thighs and such, though. Ach, we'll see soon enough. I imagine he'll be about the same price as Starscream et al. Hopefully he's Prime-height so we can re-enact their various clashes in the Marvel days.

It's no secret I'm a massive Quakewave fan, but I'm very excited to see a proper Takara reveal. He looks pretty good to me and as everyone says, the legs particularly look much better. Chest might be too big and those hips are very square.
Instant purchase for me simply because it's Shockwave. Not sure why I'm not whooping with joy. I think it's because an MP Shockwave to me is the definitive Transformer, the absolute pinnacle. It has to be outstanding and I'm not sure the current MP designer is the one to bring us that. I want the guy who did MP10 to do Shockwave.
This also makes Megatron's absence even more glaring.
Yeah. Thrilled, but with an air of caution.

Yeah, as I've said before, there's a definite progression from "masterpiece" to "well made toy"... which is actually a different thing. But we'll see what the final model's like. As to accessories... Vector Sigma. So you can recreate that scene in "The Key to Vector Sigma" where he randomly wanders past the ancient, lost chamber and sees the Autobots building the Aerialbots... Or some debris. So you can drop it on his head and do the "Decepticons, Scramble!" thing... Or maybe, just *maybe* they'll remember a second time that the Marvel comics existed and give him Optimus Prime's head on a stick. Platter. Matrix thing.

And does he have electronics?

Nail on head. And does he have electronics? Also I strongly believe that a true MP Shockwave should include in his gunstick one of those high-powered laser pointers that can kill a man.

Nail on head. And does he have electronics? I think one of the news articles said no electronics didn't it? or that might just be this prototype didn't have any. Although the eye looks very bright, almost lit. Either that or there's some serious light piping coming in from behind. I'm more up on this today. I never thought this would happen. A Masterpiece of one of my personal hall of famers... fantastic!

Head is better on the real one. Captain Photoshop to the MP Shockwave thread! Courtesy of Mr Marshall in the Photoshop thread: Colour the MP Shockwave prototype please! Okay, assuming they go as slavish to Sunbow as possible (I am assuming the hands/chest will be transparent pink as opposed to silver like the cartoon but who knows?)

That's clearly a button on his arm, he must be electronic!
Also the flatness of the chest panel makes me think it has to be transparent with stuff behind it.

This release is an absolute thing of joy. I genuinely never expected to see a larger scaled Shockwave which was faithful to the original - I had figured that the Legend was as close as we would get. One way or another, I am going to shuffle the budget around to get this. He is pretty much the last Decepticon leader I still wanted to have in my collection - I've got Megatron, got Ratbat, Straxus so Shockwave was the one I needed to complete my "Marvel" line-up.
He looks absolutely great - he's pretty much what I want in a Shockwave toy I think. All I really want to know now is how well the weapon mode is balanced - Quakewave was a nicely balanced blaster and I'd like to think that a Shockwave could manage the same thing.

I really like the look of this, and seeing the side-by-side comparison for me it makes the 3P look really poor. The MP proportions look great. Maybe it's just because I'm a skinny jeans-clad hipster, but the common complaints I've seen about a few recent releases regarding the lack of bulk on legs just slide right past me...
As for accessories, how about removable brain module, yes?

As for accessories, how about removable brain module, yes? -Jim NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a lump in my throat when that happened. You could feel it coming, but it was still shocking. I didn't cry though! I didn't! That is a great colouring in effort there, Big Phil. He's looking like a must have, Quakewave or no Quakewave. Something nostalarousing about the pure space-gun-ness of him. Although it raises the question again of 'what is a Masterpiece'? Sunbow loyal, or ultimate representation. Quakewave still edges it for me because I feel he is more 'Ultimate representation'. The more solid legs, the brilliant way the gun-barrel folds up and becomes his backpack.

I think it's fair to say a prototype on display suggests that. Question then is, where's Ratchet? Takara seem to like the same base mould figures bunched together. I wonder if he'll be between Ironhide and these two new ones. At the moment we're being told Tracks for Nov, Road Rage for Dec, Ironhide for the end of Jan. So Shockwave and Hot Rod I would have thought will be May at the earliest, maybe even autumn when you look at the months Masterpieces tend to come out.

That price is in line with the bbts one, which makes it sound like these aren't guesstimates. It also makes it look like Takara are focusing on a premium price point because Magnus, Star Saber and Shockwave are all around £120, as well as the car robot level.
But yeah, Shockwave seems too simple a toy to align with Magnus and Star Saber's price. It must have electronics for a start, but even so.
