Didn't say what molds are being used though. Looking at the art over at Botcon.com, Prime is clearly Classics. Is that Movie Jazz next to him? I'm not sure who the other one is. If Prime is Classics, then I would have assumed Grimlock and Bumblebee to be, but if it is Movie Jazz, then maybe a Movie Bumblebee. Of course, they used Classics moulds last year, including Bumblebee and Starscream.

The Jazz is Cybertron Crosswise. There was some stuff on the 2005 boarsds about it a few days ago.

I would love that artwork to be a bluff. This set would be brilliant if it used the new animated moulds. Afterall they should be out at retail by then. I just cant make my mind up on this lot.

Isn't there some clause limiting the exclusives to being molds used a certain time before ?

Isn't there some clause limiting the exclusives to being molds used a certain time before ? In the past it has always been said that they have access to anything up to the line immediately before the current retail line (i.e, they can't use anything currently in the distribution pipeline, but can use anything prior to that they can cut a deal on). I'm figuring Classics retools is the likely most recent line they will be using. (Based on the fact that it is a classics Prime shown in the promo artwork, so really rampant speculation on insufficient data). Karl

The rumour of the moulds used posted on tfw2005.com says: I guess the small toy would be the Razorclaw minicon.

I imagine their agreement will be they can get moulds when Hasbro deem they can have them as they are winding down a particular range.

Although as I recall the convention stuff was based on Wave 1 Classics molds, which had already been through the retail cycle and been supplanted by Wave 2 by that point. At least, that is what I thought - could easily be wrong though. Either way, they do seem to be letting them have molds that have more recently ended their retail cycles than they used to. Karl

Much as the whole 'mirror universe' deal has been done to death, I have to admit that the EEEEvil repaint is one of only two Botcon figures I kept from last year. They have a certain ridiculous charm.

I think it's the fact Starscream is the hero that most appeals to me. Far more so than Prime being evil. Think it's a wonderfull twist SS being the good-guy! Wonder what mold he'll be?
I always thought Crosswise looked alot like Jazz.

Yup which is another reason I hope they dont use that mould. I dont own the energon version, so I would quite like one of those.

Maybe BotCon are taking a tip from the Marvel UK Christmas story "Stargazing" where Starscream was "good".
I don't have a high opinion for the "mirror universe" plot idea. In fact, I rank it on a par with the WhitePrimeUltraMagnus idea. It's fanwank, pure unadulterated, salty fanwank.
Did they run out of Beast Wars/Beast Machines/RiD/Armada/Energon/Cybertron toys to repaint as "fan-favourite" G1 characters this year?

Do they just lie on the backs all day, legs open wide, flicking their fan-bean?!

;D ;D ;D ;D
I quite like the idea of the toys and their back story, but given the BotCon comic's past reputation (or lack thereof) I think the story will be naff. The thing is, I do think that some of the plots are OK for what they are, but the scripting and pacing are terrible.

SS good in Armada?! I really must try and see this series some time. Don't do it, Shockprowl! It has terrible animation and an even worse dub! Or vice versa! It's the worst produced TF show ever! -Nick

I'm inclined to say you are actually right both ways there Nick. The animation and the dub are both worse than each other. Or at least, that is what it felt like when I watched it.

And then came the dark days. Then came...CYBERTRON.

I'm vaguely optimistic about the Mirrorverse Botcon stuff as it could be fun - though it is likely it won't be since the promo data seems to think this is a shocking new idea nobody EVER thought of before.
...and I've seen one episode of Cybertron and I still agree with Ralph on the show. It was worse than the UK Generation 2 #1 cover art.
