I'll take what anyone doesn't want. I like this set and concept so far. Way more than more lame SG. Or at least could someone who is going pick up a loose set for me?
Also, I've got a feeling the troopbuilder will be Megaplex.

Jet Mode now up..... It appears a lot of the toy is clear purple to simulate a teleporting effect. Nice.

I do like the way that looks on the Fighter Mode. The way the black edging bleeds into the purple is quite clever. I'm still not sold on the way it looks in humanoid mode, but the idea is a much more interesting use of transparent plastic than most we see. Points to them for trying something unexpected.

I honestly think that effect in plane mode to show teleportation is the cleverest deco I have seen on a Transformer toy in quite some time. Credit is due to Fun Pub. I give them enough stick for their nonsense but I must doff my cap on this occassion.

There's an extremely famous custom (well, customs, the guy made loads of them) of mid-warp skywarp www.flickr.com/photos/accardi1/5758815933/in/photostream/ and officially there was also the Dark of the Moon 'scan' series which had the same idea.

I always thought they should have done this for the invisible Mirage in 2007, but as the attendee freebie probably was out of budget as it would have meant painting lots of clear plastic.
I still like it, more having seen the plane mode but still not overly interested.
The amount of reveals by Hasbro and announcement by Takara and all the 3Ps are really making this years Botcon feel underwhelming.

Teleportation effect Skywarp, good idea! Wonder if we'll see more teleportation effect Skywarps in the future. Like invisible Invisible Woman figures and so on.

I hope not. While I don't mind an occasional one off (Especially when we have a none-effect version), I do not like them as the standard. I hated that every single Johnny Storm figure is partially on fire. You either get him as human torch, or partial. Almost never ever do you get a non-flames Johnny.
As for "Cloaked" Mirage, my only complaint was that he wasn't cast in translucent versions of his normal colors. Dark blue really made no sense. Clear, or regular colors did. Could handle no paint apps.

I think (though no idea why) its part of WOH, so is following up Wings of Honour ( A group of Autobots are rewarded by becoming the first Elite Guard for there bravery in a hopeless battle, in which none of them die and all the enemy do) and G2 Redux (A Macguffins gives transformers superpowers)
So I'm sure it will be a masterpiece of Transformers fiction.
Strika looks okay, but would have been a better Impactor (and somewhat screwed the 3P Impactor a little) still not feeling the set, they are all solid, but I hope aren't the best they have to offer.

Wings of Honor universe is a Not-Sunbow universe. Everything that happens in the sunbow cartoon happens in the WoH universe, unless FP specifically says it doesn't. G2 Redux is also apart of this.
WoH and SG are FP's two go-to continuities. Sad because both suck.
Their multiverse is awful. And one of the very few things they had that was really worth expanding on (DofP and Maxcops) was dropped like a bad habbit almost immidiately.
That said, if they put Machine Wars in continuity with Beast Wars and not in their typical mess, it makes a lot of sense as a gapbridge between G1/G2 and the Beast Era.
Personally, I feel the far smartest idea FP could have had was to use the Classics toys as a "Neo G1" that sorta merges the cartoon and Marvel continuities, and form the base for the Beast Wars continuity (Since BW drew from both sources instead of just a single source like Beast Machines). I mean, there was a lot they could do with that. All the way from the start of the great war, to Dawn of Future's Past.
All that said, I reeeeeally want these sobad. I repeat, anyone going who doesn't want theirs, I DO! Can pay monies, and/or trade other botcon toys.

I just worked out whats bugging me. They have been talking about this as a "What if" Machines Wars had a second year. And Strika didn't exist till 3 or 4 years later.
It might be stupid, but whats the point of defining the set, when the very first new character ignores that definition.

So, what's Machine Wars all about then? (sorry, sorry, that whole period passed me by during my 'Dark Years' of none collecting. Forgive me!)
Also, I have the Prowl (think I may have got him off a fellow Hubbite). I like the Prowl. Will they do a Prowl?

Stryka. Um. That is a little bit random. It feels rather like they have just dipped a hand into a bag of Transformer names and drawn one out. I like the Beast Machines character Stryka fine, but there is nothing there that makes me think it is a character that logically belongs in a Machine Wars themed set. It was a store exclusive (?) line at the same time as Beast Wars (hence Machine Wars) with vehicles, made up of unused G2 molds and Euro G1 molds (for example, a stripped down Thunderclash became Prime) Yep, Target Exclusive as I recall. Nope it was a good ole fashion KB toys one. Making it possibly the cheapest transformers toyline ever.
As I remember it the basics were 2 for $5 and the price went up to $20 for Optimus.
I still can't believe I didn't buy all of them.
I still don't have Starscream, Sandstorm or Soundwave. And I sold Prowl to Shockprowl.
I wonder if the price is in danger of going up due to this set.
