Plan! Because on present course the 2017 figures will use Titans' Return moulds, which will have a fair few actual beasts. And the headmaster motiff works in a unique way as to have maximals and predacons piloting autobot and decepticon sized mecha to interact with their "ancestors." Though I'd personally prefer straight up "normal" maximals and preds, like terrorsaur from gen armadascream, this titans idea is better than ravage from breakdown and seaclamp from silverbolt. Or if you want to be totally crazy, call the head SPARK AVATARS (remember that??)

I like the idea of new head just to place over your toys for CW line. It cheaper than making a repainted full DX toy.

Tarantulas looks nicer every time I see it, mind.

Funny how the smallest things affect you. If he'd been black to match Ravage I'd be in on this set. Three reds, two blacks. Nice colour scheme.

Stand alone Tarantulas looks fantastic, but yeah as part of a set it really needed to be black to to pair with Ravage, or Tripredacus had to be toy colours so that it was all nice and random.

I suppose to be fair that is just a greyscale Scattershot with some photoshopped red and a new head stuck on. It might look a bit better eventually when it's actually painted. But how can this figure even be called Seaclamp? where's the sea? or the clamp?

Optimists on the TFW forums are suggesting the alt mode could be seen as a submarine rather than a jet. Pushing it a bit.

While I wouldnt call it a submarine, it is at least a spaceship, which are sometimes interpreted as a submarines in space. There is that tradition in transformers with depthcharge, armada tidalwave and broadside. So yeah I can see a spaceship becoming a sea creature.
They still should have done magmatron as the torso with tripredacus as limbs and legend, but having chosen the wrong option and the wrong colours this is about as good as itll get.
I am now wondering if sky lynx might be used for silverbolt.

Indeed. I suppose if all of the Botcon figures are current moulds the question now is of what the other exclusives will be, because they'll have to be CW moulds too won't they?
Overkill really. No two ways of looking at it. These must be the most used moulds in history. Strike planes aside.

the only one with exposed bits under the table is Sea Clamp whose brown colour isnt that far removed from the red and his Takara version is pretty much exactly that red so wouldnt need the red light to hit him there, though it probably would. Ramhorn asa dark brown character lit by a red light looks about right to me. Cicadacons arm can be seen under the table, but the light on the table would probably just about hit it where it is. I suppose you could make a case (other than money saving) that Cicadacons lower arms and head are white so a red light would make them pretty red. The robe covers the rest of the torso and legs, the torso which is being hit by the red and white light is a mix of colours, the parts covering his legs are only being hit by the white light and so show something closer to its true grey/white/blue colour. Theres no excuse for the blue upper arms looking red (except cost) Add to this that they're on screen for a minute, and it's far easier and cheaper to color the animation models red, than it is to give them even partial decoes, and then recolor them with the lights. And the silver parts seem to be clothing that's not part of their superstructure, that is more reflective of the lightsource above. However, all the red parts are lit from below, from the table judging by the shadows. The station just got hit with a major disaster. Lights are off, alarms are blairing, it this were the Enterprise they'd be at Red Alert. I'm pretty sure the intent is that they're red because they're lit by red lights. just that the animation models are colored red as cost savings. news.tfw2005.com/2015/11/04/the-tripredacus-agenda-behind-the-scenes-of-beast-wars-the-agenda-part-1-304952#more-304952It seems my interpretation is correct. They were colored red for the "light source," and were not intended to be red, but silver.

Ah, but imagine the outcry if the toys had *not* been red... Kobayashi Maru.

I do not disagree. Red or toy colored were the only way to go.

My mind always boggles when I see the price of the GI Joe sets ($500 for the most recent, ISTR). They just don't seem to have the same variety and playability to me. To be fair I'm probably not their target audience (though I did like the Tiger Force vs Iron Grenadiers theme).

Called it. They are locked into the same economic model each year. I knew they would be stupid enough to charge $400 for CW re-heats. How does this compare to their subscription CW set? Or the Tomy Mall exclusive CW sets in Japan!
Remember, when this comes out much of the CW series will be sitting on discount shelves by then as the range comes to an end as a retail line.

Lol. I definitely don't think they will be seeing the sales numbers climb on this lot now.. I feel it's going to sell out but will be one of those sets where the price gently tanks. Of course if they turn out to look great maybe people will want it for a definitive Tripredacus Council?
