So it's going to be a lame Silverbolt repaint as opposed to a nice remould. I'm still suspicious. Where's the draw? Where's the unexpected headmaster? The pretender shell? They can't seriously expect fans to be impressed just because these are current range moulds? How does this up the game on last year?
Perhaps they're going to give us the council table too as an add-on. Flippable of course.
I want to see it. I was getting really excited about this last week, I want to be excited still.

It better be scattershot, at least the alt mode then doesnt look like the complete opposite of everything a lobster might possibly choose to be if it was a machine. I love the fact a sentence as bizarre as this makes perfect sense. |

I'm just really disappointed that it's not the Hot Spot-lobster that we saw a few posts back... I m genuinely gutted, how underwhelming (assuming there's no barking mad remolding for the alt mode, it could still be saved!!) |

I'm generally not too bothered if a botcon deco is somewhat similar to the mass release, if it's to fit a perfect character (Tigerhawk into BW Skylynx for instance. Similar decoes, but PERFECT MOLD USE)
But in this case... We're already getting a red and silver Silverbolt as Scattershot. And now we're paying premium prices for a nearly identical deco as a character the mold has NOTHING in common with?
Oh hey I have a lazy idea just up your ally FP!
Release a head modeled after Magnaboss. Just a head.
That way people can swap out CW Superion's head and make their own Magnaboss!
Oh but wait, that makes too much sense.
So is the add on combiner going to be Magnaboss?
Let me take a stab at it:
Silverbolt- Motormaster because why the hell not?
Ironhide- Mirage
Prowl- Airraid
Steeljaw- Ravage reuse because.
Optimus Primal- Alpha Bravo. BECAUSE NOT ONCE HAVE YOU MADE ANY LOGICAL SENSE.

I don't think it's crazy to think that the add-on souvenirs would be another combiner! If the order is to use current molds, what else could they do? |

By making a boxset and subscription service of combiners theyve done hasbros bidding. The club toys show they arent totally limited to cw and since the add ons are only for people who already forked out for a cw boxset and arent advertised in advance, I cant decide whether to expect them or not.

I honestly think there are only three uses of CW that makes genuine sense for the club/botcon. Everything else is just shoehorning a bunch of things that don't work, and forcing them together.
The only things that would make sense out of the available molds, and the year it is, are a redux of Nexus Prime, RiD Ruination from Bruticus, and RiD Omega Prime from Hotspot as Super Optimus, and the Autobot brothers.
And just leave BW for next year when they're likely not required to use CW.

Exclusive territory, an rid theme would still be grwat at some point, but not doing beast wars next year would have been a pretty poor call.
Pre beast wars toys are never going to make a whole lot of sense. I remember people being pissed because they thought dinobot turning in to a constructoon vehicle was inappropriate. I think ypu possibly complained that tigertron/from a sports car was a/poor fit too. Rattrap doesnt make a huge amount of sense either really. Rhinox head really doesnt look anything like rhinoxs head. Megatron sort of makes sense but would actually make more sense from scattershot as tgat mould has arm kibble thatts sort of more fitting.
The cw moulds are not really any more or less suitable than anything else. Only difficulty is in trying to put gogether a groip that makes sense from the remain characters. Tripredacus actually makes great sense for that reason, its only thw execution im concerned by.

I actually think the previous Botcon Beast Wars set was really good. Pretty much every mold seemed really well chosen both in terms of being a good mold and fitting the characters.

If hasbro decrees to use certain molds, than use them for things that make sense. Then do the proper stuff on the year they don't have someone lording over them.

If it's true that last years set didn't do that well, I can see them wanting to double-down on stuff they know has been popular before (ie Beast Wars). Their most popular sets (at least if aftermarket prices are to be believed) were the Beast Wars and Shattered Glass, though for both of them they've already done all the big hitters, and for Shattered Glass they've beat that poor horse til it's just a smear on the ground. At least we were spared a shattered glass combiner. I really want a RiD set now, damn you! |

I am slightly drunk and I think i hate the idea of Botcon doing what HAsbro decrees. A fanclub should be taking the molds and making new interesting stuff with them Sodf having a theme, just make god toys, dangnammit.

And the headmaster motiff works in a unique way as to have maximals and predacons piloting autobot and decepticon sized mecha to interact with their "ancestors." Though I'd personally prefer straight up "normal" maximals and preds, like terrorsaur from gen armadascream, this titans idea is better than ravage from breakdown and seaclamp from silverbolt. |
