I've got two G2 boxes both call him Spark, if that was the only name he was known by in G2 its odd that the G1 Pyro name seems to have stuck even with American he shouldn't have heard it much till LSOTW.

Not sure how the set will go down with US fans, but I can see a healthy after-market for them with UK/European fans. I think the set plays more to those sensibilities.

I don't think we'd heard about Streetwise and Clench, either. Cool
Really really stoked about Sky Byte, I hope it's the Energon Sharkticon mold. Bit disappointed they've instantly trailed away from the G2 theme though!
But hey, Sky-Byte

We were warned about one non G2 character a while back. Amazingly someone did guess it within a few hours, but Pete refused to say which of the guesses it was. Frankly Skybyte was by far the most interesting (except Actionmaster Thundercracker of course). I guess it being 10 years since RID its as good a time as any to throw something in.
I'm chuffed with Streetwise as I suggested it after Breakdown was shown and I got shot down by loads of people on the club board saying they'd never do it and Breakdown was only being done as it had Botcon History. I really realy want it to be using the red Alert mould, but I fear it might be Prowl with the Rapido toy as the attendee exclusive.
If clench is a repaint of Onslught then that'll round off a very good set.
Breakdown has a new head and I figure Skybyte needs a new head to be even worth the bother, unless they do a premium version of the original ratherthan use Sharkticon.
Streetwise doesnt need one if its Red Alerts head being used and they'd probably not bother changing Prowls head either so the final new head is betwen Pyro and Clench. Onslaught already has the gasmask look but is very round compared to spikey ole Clench. Infernos head isn't to bad even though it lacks a face plate, but it could do with a new head to just make it stand out more from Inferno.

I did till I remember Streetwise is one of the few not to have a block head. Though I'd be quite happy with the block head.

Thats the other thing that amazes me, you have this fantastic figure that has 2 robot modes and presently 3 head (4 or 5 if you include PCP) try and find a G2 (or even EuroG1) transformer that has the top of the car on the chest. Almost all of them have the Sideswipe chest with a few using a Prowl chest. A few (like 2 and I think just one mould, oh plus the unreleased stunticons) have the base of the car form the chest like most MM.
I was having a look earlier and I found one figure that could use the Sunstreaker transformation and its Aquafens/Jetstorm, buts alt mode was a dune buggy thing so not really suitable. Even then its not just he roof its the whole front of the car and roof so its not quite Sunstreakers transformation. G2 Dead End sort of works at least as well as Breakdown and then at least between Dragstrip and the super expensive Henkei Wildrider you have a full team.

I figured we'd get Clench when blethering about this with the Scots contingent. A new Sky Byte is a splendid idea.

Streetwise is up to, not announced yet, but replacing spark or breakdown with streetwise in the address for the current previews brings it up. sadly its the Prowl mould. Happily the car mode looks really nice, but I'm not convinced about the robot still.

In fairness it looks good (I think the pose is a bit poorly angled, but I don't blame the toy for that), but I simply have never liked how Prowls head sits on top of the chest. Its the difference between one of the best toys in my collection and the one I rarely look at and is more likely to be found in car mode if it surfaces from within what ever box it is usually to be found in. Its a frikkin G2 Streetwise though, so I'll get over it. Andy

The colour scheme on the humanoid mode inclines me to thinking of him as a "rogue cop". They look rather nice on the vehicle mode as well.

Do. Not. Like.
Sorry, but painting Prowl a uniform shade of black and calling him Streetwise just smacks of 'Lazy' to me.

On balance a strong theme, good moulds, good homages and Skybyte. I think this is my new favourite set.

It seems the Tankor recolour isn't real, just a quick photoshop to trick everyone. Onslaught it is then.

I saw the artwork first, and then got confused when I saw the toy pics, as there was no way that Onslaught recolour wasn't Clench.
But yeah, I'd have liked to have seen the plane mode of that Clenchor.

Glad i held off getting an Onslaught now! Andy I've already got Hardhead and Onslaught it really is one of the best toys for years. Its also the base for my Impactor custom. I might look at getting that custom Hardhead head just so they al stand apart. Andy

Yeah Onslaught is a great toy. Wasn't going to bother with Hardhead until I heard about the custom head, so made sure I grabbed one before they become hard to find. Looking forward to seeing actual photos of the Clench version.

Do. Not. Like. Sorry, but painting Prowl a uniform shade of black and calling him Streetwise just smacks of 'Lazy' to me. I agree with this. There is absolutely nothing to this which makes me think of Streetwise. A new head, at the very least, could have helped here, but no. Heck, it would have been even better to go with the rumours and do Rapido. Right body type to begin with, and with a distinctive colour scheme. This, however, is just a black Prowl varient.

I've only just noticed the Breakdown robot pic. I love it! Streetwise is boring, though; I'd rather have seen something in a brighter colour scheme in keeping with the others in the set. But perhaps it was an intentional choice to remind us that G2 wasn't all gaudy.
I like the new Botcon website design. Sort of. My first reaction was, "cool, a G2 theme" but wow, what were they thinking in the nineties?
