Yeah, that was one of the possible reasons I thought of. Others possibilities may be Hasbro thinking that "Pyro" has negative pyromaniac connotations and "spark" being a word with stronger Transformers connections.

Just a shame going from the blurb they seem to be going for using One Hand Slapping Continuity when there's a perfectly servicable G2 storyline they could use. Ah well. Nevermind, if the toys are all like Pyro I will be giving Toy-Fu lots of my money for services rendered!

I actually like that they are taking a different tack with the story.
I mean based on your past experience with FP do you really want them writing an expansion of the Marvel G2?
Ignoring last years comic I think the writing is better suited to a cartoon type story. And as a bonus I actually like the set up this year. By the end of Rebirth the story and most of the G1 guys has really moved away from Earth so a new mini war between those left behind works for me. Its also how I like remember the set up or the Overlord, thunder clash years.

Hey! The Gobots are just fine, bub! I still haven't sent you that list of my doublers, have I?
The awkward part of my Botcon mission is that Spark up there is definitely going to be in the box set and how the hell am I going to get more than two of them? I can't buy more than one package. I think I'll volunteer to make sure I get an extra couple of whatever the attendee exclusive is, just in case it's another Leozack that everybody wants- just hope it doesn't backfire and I wind up with two extras of the 2010 equivalent of Invisible Mirage.

I hate to tell you this but those Mirages are worth a fair bit now Nick.
Even though they are stupidly blue.
You can actually order as many boxsets as you like. The problem will come if the rest of the set is of the same standard as Thunderclash last year.

I'm sure it can't hurt to try at least! It's often surprising what you can get if you have a worthy cause and ask nicely.

Good idea, that. Certainly worth a try. If Dean is going to represent the Club at AA again, it might even be possible to make some sort of arrangement with shared shipping.

Just out of curiosity; was the Generation 2-branded reissue of Pyro called Spark only, or sometimes Spark and sometimes Pyro?

TFU doesn't even have a Spark listing which made me think it was only called Pyro in G2 and Spark was one of the Euro names for the toy. Even the US fans are calling it Pyro.

I've found TFU to be sometimes lacking in accuracy with regards to "G1.5".
The Generations book explains the Pyro/Spark and Clench/Colossus situation. Does anyone here read Japanese?
I think I read at some point that Colossus was used in France. It's hard to find accurate information.

Nice. That could actually stand quite comfortably in a display of G2 other early nineties' Transformers.
Speaking of April Fools jokes, have you seen Allspark today? It's pretending to be a 1985 version of itself. An interesting idea, but I don't really see how you can call it a joke.

Does fit in with the keeping from the first toy maiking it look like the original release. But did expect something more in line with how we got Deadend in the Movie line.

Aaand this one will also only be in the giftset so I'll only be able to acquire two directly, which will almost certainly be snapped up by Hubbers. It looks like I will be exclusively (as it were) reliant on the kindness of other attendees to provide for Toy-fu's no-doubt hot Botcon 2010 inventory.
If I can get others to buy a lot of extra exclusives on my behalf, I'm going to need a frigging wheelbarrow full of cash with me too. Better grab every extra shift I can get at TRU in the meantime...

I'm wondering, do you think these guys will be cheaper on the secondary market than previous BotCon toys? G2 was never that popular, but I absolutely adore it. I can see a lot of toys being flogged on.

I can see a lot of toys being flogged on. I think G2 is more popular than people realise. I can see this set being just as popular as say, the Beast Wars set
