Rodimus as Breakdown perhaps? ===KEN If they use Rodimus, I'm guessing he'll follow the Henkei theme and become Wildrider.

Prowl as Groove, Bumblebee as Streetwise, Ratchet as First Aid? Blurr as Drag Strip maybe...

So far Botcon has never copied a japanese release so personally I'd prefer not to get a dark Wildrider as its just going to look like the black Rodimus thats out already. So by default that would leave Breakdown. Arcee to Dragstrip because Cheetor from Blurr is yellow too) and Blurr or Lockdown for Wildrider.

You're quite right, also there's going to be a Japanese Black Rodimus apparently! www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/animated-8/animated-rodimus-hyper-hobby-exclusive-black-version-revealed-170837/

You know, I can just picture a 3rd Party Manufacturer coming up with pieces that can make these Animated Stunticons combine into Menasor!

We dont have too many sports type cars in animated. Bumblebee is too small to use in this set.
Guess that Lockdown is going to be used for wild rider. Magnus would make better Motormaster than repainting Optimus. Blurr for Dragstrip.

Breakdown looks good, I like that it has car weapons.
I'm thinking/hoping Dragstrip arcee and Wildrider Bumblebee with new head.
Blur and Lockdown are going to be too tall to look right for me. Plus LD looks to decepticon to fit the rest of the set, even though the moulds are all being used as cons now.

That looks great, the head just works and it manages to look nothing like Arcee.

Ah. A Stunticon in Drag [Strip]. BotCon went there.

In fairness FP and DJW haven't gone there, just the screaming fanboys. The name is unfortunate, but it's also the best mould available I think.

Mmm I like that he looks much different from Lockdown, but he doesn't look much like Wildrider, more like Skullgrin. It doesn't really have the same buzz as the rest to me, but it is still a nice set. Probably won't be picking it up.

I don't like Wildrider. It's such a distinctive mould - and Lockdown made more of an impact than most wholly new characters - that I can't really see that mould as anyone but Lockdown.

I'm not thrilled about the use of Lockdown, but think it came out alright. All the grey from the car mode makes it look to similar to Lockdown. Robot modes extra colours look good as does the head.
So far the set doesn't have last years must have quality, but I really like it and if the rumoured add ons turn out to be true it'll be a good add on to my Animated display.

What are the rumoured add-ons? I've heard a 3-pack of Autotroopers (I will eat my hat if that doesn't happen, it is so obvious) and Ironfist from the same mold. I'm intrigued that we've not seen any of the unreleased US molds as part of this set yet

DJW said during an LA meet up that the add ons would include one Japanese (autotroopers) one euro (Ironfist) and one G2 (possibly Breakdown as G2 Sideswipe). A separate rumour from someone in Japan has already gotten the 4 stunticons correct (not that hard lots of people guessed them, he also says MM will be Wingblade Prime* and seems to support the Japanese, Euro and G2 figures and also says Actionmaster Thundercracker and SG Galvatron.
AMTC could be animated or classic, but SG Galvy seems unlikely to be Animated as it would either be Leader Megatron or Blackout. So its likely its an unrelated set in the same fashion as Razorclaw and Elita 1 in 2009.
If there's any form of AMTC I immediately become very happy. And SG Galvatron using Cybertron Evac mould looks really impressive from the club comic artwork.
*I don't know if I like that idea or not. Another black Prime even with a new head doesn't interest me much but getting the mould does.

It has been pointed out that Breakdown's head is very like Sideswipe, and Sideswipe is red as is Hot Rod, so G2 Sideswipe does make a lot of sense...
I'd be surprised to see AMTC in the classic seeker mold actually, mostly because isn't that mold currently in use by Hasbro/Takara which usually means the club can't use it?
I kinda hope all the molds will be animated ones, but I'd understand if they wanted to spread out a bit. I can't remember, do we find out about the at-show exclusives beforehand now?

I'd be surprised to see AMTC in the classic seeker mold actually, mostly because isn't that mold currently in use by Hasbro/Takara which usually means the club can't use it? I'm not sure. Last year that was the reason given, but they were gearing up for Generations then. This year its quite likely they have or will have finished producing Thundercracker by the time the botcon figures are done. And the club are getting G2 Ramjet which is made at the same time as Botcons run. I kinda hope all the molds will be animated ones, but I'd understand if they wanted to spread out a bit. I can't remember, do we find out about the at-show exclusives beforehand now? I'd prefer it too, but if the set is a bit of a late change, filling it out with some figures that had been on boards in previous years makes sense. Working out how to repaint another 2 figures without new heads might have been too long a process. (though Slipstream and Wasp immediately spring to mind.

Oh, Ralph was grumpy that day! The figures don't do it for me but it's still a cool boxed set for the majority of the fanbase (Animated being very popular) and exactly the kind of thing the Club/Botcon should be doing. If AMTC appears I will be most happy, whether I can get a hold of one or not. -Ralph

Personally, I'd prefer it is Botcon did some non-animated toys too this year. However I'd also be upset if they did, since this seems like the last real chance to actually get animated figures. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!

I still don't know if I would have been happier if the set had been primarily giving us toys of show characters that don't have toys or whether getting all new characters that otherwise would exist at all and are designed to best fit existing moulds is better. I suppose the later, but I still want the rest of Starscreams clones, and so many others too.
I suppose if this set is really successful the club might do one or two more.
