Mine currently looks cheaper than IDToys!
With Amazon you pay the duty up front - 4 or 5 quid on this and dodge the clearance fee bit!
<does new order from scratch>
£30.12 delivered, nothing else to pay, inc £5.02 import fees deposit which may get refunded later.

So I broke down and bought Nemesis Prime.
I've come to the conclusion that all the reasons this mold doesn't work as Optimus, are the exact reasons it does work as Nemesis.
...that is assuming you chunk Hasbro's standard unimaginative "evil optimus prime" clone concept.
I prefer a Syndrome from The Incredibles take. Some little young autobot obsessed with and worships Optimus Prime, does something wreckless and gets scolded by Optimus. From there, fanboy turns dark. Thinks he can be a better Optimus than Optimus. Fashions himself an Optimus helmet, then a suit of trailer armor that gives him the size and appearance of Optimus.

I have absolutely no attachment to Punch / Counterpunch (though I love the names), and these toy pics aren't changing anything, BUT I know if I were to show them to my daughter she'd be like "COOOOOOOL!!!! An Autobot who can disguise as a Decepticon and a really cool sports car!!!"

Ta. The double sided head is a bit of a worry.

An additional positive note about Predaking-
I greatly enjoy the intentional design parallels in Razorclaw, with Optimus Prime. I looked at pictures of the original toy, and the parallels aren't there. There are the same design elements that are coincidental, but the designer took those and tweaked them on this one. -He had shoulder guns, but here they are turned straight up, like Op's exhaust pipes. -He always had the faceplate, but here it's more angular, and so is his helmet. Much more Optimus-like than the original. -Here, he has a matrix, and stores under the lion head (which also parallels the front of the truck for op's torso), much the same way as Optimus.
He's the first Decepticon toy (that's not an optimus or rodimus clone/repaint) to have an actual matrix. And with that, I do really appreciate the tweaks to his existing design to give it that Optimus homage.
It also doesn't hurt that he's the only one with a good robot mode.

I'm glad you find him to be so - simply because I'm not fussed about *any* of the robot modes, since most of them are less poseable than a normal deluxe.
But yes, I'd noticed the guns/smokestack thing, and yeah, his ability to hold a Matrix certainly makes him stand out. And I guess I do like him, but mostly because his extreme blockiness (which is a result of needing to be the combiner chest) just makes him look quite cute. Which is wrong for the character, but there you go...

I like that this is a good indication what Kapow are saying about Hasbro is true. They aren't being forced to take a wave they don't want just to get a single figure, they were open about saying if that had been the case with Slugslinger they wouldn't have stocked him, so it seems they do now have some day in the assortments they get. It seems the same can be said about other lines too, hence the recent restocks of in demand figures from the Star Wars and Marvel lines.

Huh. That's why. This is a little more promising then.
And also pre-ordered, because the conjunx would've been unhappy if I hadn't.

Opened up Moonracer so Elita-1 had a friend. My god she's got one heck of a backpack. This toy fails simply because of the desire to present a slender humanoid female form as the robot, everything else is just bolted onto her back and legs for the transformation. Terrible design choice.
