Mummy always warned you not to strain too hard: That said, gods, those are beautiful. Interesting colour choices for Apex, too. Nearly Alpha Trion-esque, there...

You can see Blaster because the Blaster Base mode is modeled after the original PM Prime base mode ...So what this means is that a designer genuinely sat down and thought "The PM Prime Base mode was the best base mode ever and should be homaged on Blaster".

I see nothing Blaster-like in PM Prime. Gaw. Blaster and Prime are totes remolds of G2 Smokescreen! Like, why can't you see it??? Ah ha ha I remember that Energon Starscream thing! To be fair though, that was SUPER odd! Speaking of super odd, those underslung ramps on Prime's arms say 'Fort Max' to me. Which is odd as we're getting a proper Fort Max. And those are some really hollow arms. Come on Hasbro!!!

Hasbro used to always say that at a certain point when so much of a mold is retooled, it becomes more financially practical to just make an entirely newly designed mold. I'm flabbergasted at the extensiveness of this, and wonder where that line is.

I'm loving the figure pegs all over: he'll be riding into battle with Titan Masters standing all over him.
There's also some nice seats inthe shoulder cannons too for the Titan Masters to use in base mode.

A question pointed out elsewhere:
Why is the open side of Prime's arm facing inwards when it could be pointing down, against the ramp that's attached to the back of the arm?

I was thinking the same thing. Also why is the hollow side of the upper leg facing inwards instead of backwards?
I really dont care about hollowness, but Hasbros designers know a vocal chunk of fans do so why are easy to hide hollow bits not being hidden?

Interesting that his box art is the wrong colours! Well the arms at least, they have the mini robot blue forearms as opposed to the toy. Not a fan of Hi-Q's colours. Why go to the trouble of making a mini Hi-Q instead of a mini Optimus and then not colouring him as Hi-Q. I'd understand if they coloured him like a mini Optimus.... but they didn't. It's just a different colour scheme. So why? This might be one to wait for the Takara version. You KNOW we're going to get a God Ginrai out of it. I'd put money on Takara designing another weird Godbomber right now!!! Devastator has shown that Takara are capable of anything!!!

I was thinking how the cab didnt work as well for Prime as it did for Ultra Magnus, then Phil posts the comparison and I see Hasbro have made a completely new cab section and amped up the chunkiness all over. Its too much, the grill has swallowed half of the cams front and the windows look even smaller (even though they probably arent). I dont completely hate it, but I do not like it very much either. Thankfully its hidden by that chest piece in robot mode (which I also dont really like that much, but it works as part ofthe overall robot form).

Yeah it's a bit odd that they went to the trouble of remolding the cab and then made it even LESS like Prime.
I may sound a bit ungrateful but frankly this will most likely be the only shot at a new PM Prime we ever get! Get it right, Hasbro!
(Also a bit annoyed Hasbro are releasing G2 Bruticus without waiting for the inevitable Takara Blast-Off shuttle mold. I assume that'll happen.)

Yeah, I don't like the new cab. It honestly was fine when I thought it was the same, because it's fitting if the only part they share is the cab. But they waisted resources on making a new cab, but it doesn't actually look recognizably different.
Spending that money and resources on a new cab, they should have made it more prime-y. Larger windows, smaller grill. Didn't have to be a realistic truck.

I assume they didn't want to go for a realistic truck as the trailer is all futuristic, and that's fine. It just looks weird and ugly. Works more in robot mode, but it begs the question "why".
I can see a lot of third party fan cabs that turn into mini Primes!

I think a 1984 style Op cab that TFs and fits this toy is a no brainer especially as you can make your money twice by painting it white as CW Ultra Magnus' cab too

I am liking this PM Op, but as others have said, I do have reservations, design issues and the like. The hollows... THE HOLLOWS!!!!! The chest piece sucks a fat one. No proper Hi-Q. But, fun looking to be sure.

I feel like they've missed a trick here. The original PM Prime design had Roller become the head as well as Hi-Q being the engine. That could have happened here, or space for Hi-Q for the inevitable God Ginrai/Apex Armour edition. It might be a bit more tooling but you know this is one of those molds that will sell buckets and get repainted a lot (Black repaint! More G1-esque repaint! Fire Guts repaint! Weird Magnus back-repaint!)

On the Prime base mode you can see the spilt section where the back fold downs like how Blasters fold midway. Its just that with Blaster the flat side is on the bottom while Prime is the other way.
You also noticed they are using the same guns

What's the deal with the faux windows on the chest piece that folds up over the front of the cab? In base mode they're just two random red towers. Almost as bad as Star Convoys weird head.
