Unlike much of The Internet I cannot have an opinion on whether it is fab or poo until I have actually viewed it.
Other than sweets in B&M, GB tat is sadly (and surprisingly) very thin on the ground. I suspect the toy range is not coming to the UK! But not much merchandise at all. I saw one Lego set in one shop. No toys, t-shirts, etc.

Oh no, Ralph hates all women!! Seriously though, I'm really annoyed how the official marketing for the film has turned into "if you don't like this you are a misogynist" especially given how everything released about the film made it look objectively terrible. If it works we'll likely see a lot more of this sort of politicising where quality no longer matters in someone's opinion of a film because it's an easy shield against bad moviemaking. Personally I am expecting it to be another 2014 Robocop - ie a middle of the road, mediocre film which isn't amazing or terrible but just 'why was this made' and vanishes into the ether. (Just reminding myself of the Robocop remake made me angry though!) I have heard that they defeat the villain by shooting him in the crotch. Is that true???

Yes the whole "if you don't like it you hate women" thing is really immature. There is even a gag about it in the film and a further gag about internet comments.
The film itself is ok. I did find it very mediocre. Cast were fine. It's far from the disaster it could have been but also far from what it could have been. It's nowt to get upset about. It does look and feel like a Ghostbusters film, just a mediocre one. Bits of it work fine, large chunks fall flat and die on screen but it didn't bother me. I've seen far worse remakes. It is a lot like the 2014 Robocop as you say!
There is a bit after the end credits.

Your spoiler is not entirely accurate. It is one very brief moment in a longer scene which has been taken out of context by idiots who haven't seen it.

Reboot. It would have taken just a few line changes to make it a sequel.

That's the thing that annoys me most about it.
Make it a sequel, there was enough scope to do that, incessant reboots are tedious.

GB 2016 was merely mediocre. Passable, nowt to get annoyed about.
The new Tarzan film, however, is both fucking tedious boring shit and misses the spirit of the source material by a million miles. It actually made me angry!

Finally!
1. Ghostbusters. Kinda..it exists. The near constant callbacks and cameos took me out of this film completely. If it had dared to be it's own film completely (and glimpses of that were there and weere the best parts) it would have been a lot better. There were some really very good parts in it and I enjoyed those greatly, but there was always something that happened in the next scene thatwould bring the film back down. Choppy editing in a couple of places too. Shame the film stooped to attacking the online trolls inside the film itself though.

Andy That was my main gripe from the start, the cast are all fine so I dont care what sex they are. The most frustating thing about it is there really isn't anything in the movie that justifies calling it a reboot. Maybe it would be a little awkward but nothing in it would stop them treating it as a sequel in the future. And even that could be smoothed over with just a handful of dubbed lines. Previous ghost incidents covered up. The lead character doesnt like that they are referred to as Ghostbusters. Even the cameos are practically in character. You could probably argue for better continuity between GB 1 and 2 and GB 2016 than between some of the Transformers live action movies. Spoiler Watching Ackroyd and Slimers cameos I immediately found myself wish they had been combined in to Jake and Elwood Blues cameo.
Get Slimer and Elwood in to Ecto 1, a line about snglasses at night, have them tear around the city causing as much damage as possible and the film continues as before.

While watching it I worked out that adding just 3 lines could turn it from a reboot to a sequel. It really feels like Ghostbusters 3 in all but name rather than a bold new take on the concept.
We shall see how it turns out next time. Keep the cast and install a better script. I do agree the editing felt quite 'off' at times. It was very noticeable with scenes featuring the Holtsman GB. The actor is being quite physical a lot of the time so she would be in the middle of a movement, the camera angle would change and she would suddenly be still. Just felt like the editing of scenes was using bits from different takes but not seamlessly.
I see, alas, that idiots have used the film to racially attack a cast member. Unnacceptable behaviour. It's just someone doing a job. No excuse for that.

The internets reaction to this film has been pretty depressing all around.
I can't help feeling that they made it a reboot so they didn't have do anything original with the script.

Gods of Egypt (IMAX 3D) 6. Bastille Day 7. The Assassin 8. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies 9. X-Men: Apocalypse 10. Our Kind of Traitor 11. The 5th Wave 12. Deadpool 13. London Has Fallen 14. The First Contact script deserved the big screen treatment and had three guest stars who outshone all the regulars save Patrick Stewart. Which I suppose backs up your statement. Martin
