Trypticon is Metroplex as both are cities. Omega is Devastator as both were the big toys with no counterpart for that year and Sunbow said so! This is logical. I remember my youth though, god do I, in which in this country we were ruthlessly and needlessly denied Fort Max - so in my house Metroplex's natural opponent was always Scorponok.

That's an interesting point actually - who would you say the natural adversary for these chaps is? Scorponok is Max obviously, but who would you pair Trypticon and Omega Supreme with? Do they go together as being the odd electronic walkers of the early line? or does Trypticon make more sense to put with Metroplex as the battle of the cities? (as in the 85 box art iirc?) Trypticon is Metroplex as both are cities. Omega is Devastator as both were the big toys with no counterpart for that year and Sunbow said so! Damn his logic!!!! Baaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!

In the Marvel comics, the Dinobots fight Trypticon. The Metroplex of Space Pirates would step on tiny Trypticon and that would be the end of him - he has no-one in his size class. The only giant character Devastator fights is Superion, in the G.I. Joe crossover.

The one positive of an Omega Supreme would be the possibility of a titan class Omega Spreem repaint.

Though it must be pointed out that Hasbro's clearly reluctant to repaint their titan class stuff. I genuinely expected to see some form of Metrotitan from Metroplex, especially given how hard IDW has been pushing the 'all titans look the same sorta' thing.
And any Scorponok release would net us a Black Zarak, which could then be done as Action Master Double Punch, so...

Well, the SDCC same character/same deco, but different enough that it's not a repackaged retale release decos are just daft. Metrotitan is absolutely not a retail item. Stores could never get enough to move. But an SDCC is perfect for it. As would be G2 Dev (thankfully for me they didn't do that to me).
Fact of the matter is, a $150 kids toy is a hard sell. A $150 repaint is an even harder sell. And none of the obvious Titan choices (metroplex, trypticon, fort max, skylynx, tidalwave, omega supreme, unicron) have built in repaints that aren't super obscure japanese guys (gigastorm, brave max, metrotitan). Quite honestly, I'd be more suprised if a repaint did show up.

They might do Omega if they do Energon type line so they can use Headmasters & energon weapons attachments. I think Scopie is winning hands down. But I'd like to see Omega anyway.

Woah! Shocked by that. If they're going to do a Trypticon to match Metroplex for height it'll be about twice as bulky. Mega expensive toy.

Trypticon is the only worthy one. Scorp isn't remotely appropriate. He's much better served at leader class. HE'S NOT A FRIGGIN' GIANT. Omega Supreme we've had humoungous toys of before, and we will again. But this is our one and only shot at getting an appropriately massive sized trypticon. All we've gotten for him in the past are legend class toys. And the dude just does not work as anything smaller than a Supreme.
I'm glad he one. I'm glad they didn't throw away our one shot at him with someone who's gotten several huge toys, or someone who shouldn't have a huge toy.

Gutted it's not Scorponok.
Couldn't care less about Trypticon and it would be nice to have a Fort Max and Scorponok at the same scale.

I think enough people probably thought like Jetty to keep Scorponok from winning, because in terms of the line, matching up with Max and character development over the last 25 years its got to be the most popular.
On balance I think I prefer a leader class Scorponok scaled to Powermaster Prime more than one scaled to Fort Max too, but right now I think I was more likely to buy a titan Scorponok than I am Trypticon.

Tis true. I would argue that Max is too big rather than Scorp being too small in terms of that relationship. Scorp is spot on G1 wise, Max is just ridiculous compared to the minions he commands. Therefore it's quite right to say that a Titan Scorp is wrong. That's what I was expecting though.
I am disappointed by the lack of Omega love on a personal level, but in terms of the toy range a Trypticon is a very tasty proposition.

Metroplex's base mode is stunning. An equivalent Trypticon is a backdrop for one hell of a toy display. It'd be fracking huge. Throw in the combiners... Gosh.

Omega does deserve a titan class. I just don't think he deserves it as much as Tryp, at this point. Also, a really cleverly designed Omega could make for a bitchass cool remold into Tidalwave, someone who *also* deserves a nice titan.
And Scorp is much better served as a TR Leader class, than waiting for a future titan class release.

My issue with Trypticon is that it only really has 2 modes, dino and base. Im sure theres a third mode but if there is, like Maxs alt modes both come across as rejumbled robot lying down. Metroplex and Scorponok managed to have 3 distinct modes, at least in my mind.
Omega at least gives you a rocket and train set, so sort of 3 modes. But I dont think rocket and train would have sold as well as giant dinosaur.
