Hmm. Should have got that Devastator. Bad decision there. Still, without a Scorponok that Max should have been Omega.

I suppose it was nice that Hasbro thought about asking which figure would sell the most, and there's only so much that you can do with one release a year, but it would be nice to have the natural pairings. Metroplex needs Trypticon to balance a display just as much as Devastator needs Omega and Max needs Scorponok.

This is the failure of democracy! You get people voting for what they think they want at the time rather than what they actually probably want.
If you leave it to fan votes, the entire Transformer line would be Starscreams!

Personally I think we've dodged a bullet with a Titan Scorponok: I think he's better suited to a leader and we're more likely to get a Black Zarek repaint out of a leader.

Yeah, but think about a Scorpion the size of the Trypticon we now have. That would be Amazing. I agree a leader Scorp would make the most sense, and I've kept my Toyworld Fort Max in the hope he one day has one to stand with, but parity in height between pairs of figures also makes a lot of sense. The original Max and Scorp don't work well together because Scorp looks so puny next to him.

I'm personally not that fussed about G1-centric pairings of one big 'bot with another. So I'm happy to have the giant robot Godzilla, even if Scorponok would've made more sense. And also 'cos I voted for him. But I've been called worse than "dumbo". ;-)
That said, a Titans Return Scorponok at some scale would have been nice. And it's odd they went for, for example, Overlord instead. But there you are...

Funnily enough I voted Scorponok but now definitely think the right bot won.
I now tend to agree that I'd rather see a Leader Class Scorponok as that's how he's always been represented in the comics. Fort Max has always been a bit of a strange hybrid that way, generally a leader class in the comics, but his original toy gives him a certain mystique that a leader class toy wouldn't work for (although I liked IDW's solution to combine both).

If the batch numbers of broken toys can be clearly identified then why haven't they been recalled by Hasbro? How can they get away with selling knowingly damaged goods?

If those code numbers are what they're going by they can't; same numbers in both rows.

To be honest, given the fairly wide scale of the reported problems, its not unreasonable to expect them to do a recall of all the affected batches or at least publicly offer replacement parts for the chest door etc.

Indeed. It is being sold in toy shops after all and could be a big ticket Chrimbo present for some kids.

It makes me sad to think of kids on Christmas morning being blamed for a breakage that is not their fault...

No one wants to be blamed for a floppy trap door on Christmas day. That's just wrong.

A question for those that managed to finish the sticker sheet on their Trypticons, does he look better with or without the gold stickers on his eyes? I'm slowly working through them, but while the completist in me wants to make sure they're all applied, the orange transparent plastic seems fine to me and I worry that once I'd put the stickers on I'd not get them back off again.

T-shirt. And I have to physically see one. I never saw Fort Max in a shop and whenever I checked the Tesco web site it was never in stock! -Ralph Has Ralph seen Trypticon in a shop yet?

He has not but then Ralph has seen very little of the TR range in shops!

Got him into base mode. So faithful to the original! This is just awesome. Needs a really good stickering. Are there any secrets/play features I'm likely to have missed in this mode? Metroplex had lots of bits that opened.

Got all the stickers on. Right leg isn't on because that is the one that needs sorting you can't move it at the hip at all. You have to drive in Fulltilt front first to park up in the tail section. Tail section doesn't lock in place so it is loose.

Both springs are the same length but does move better once I took apart then put back together. Seems that the 2 plastic cogs may have been misaligned. That the large parts needs to be pushed out of the cross so it isn't stopping it moving

Almost exactly a year after buying him, I've finally finished applying all the stickers to Trypticon. I think some stickers enhance his overall look, some diminish it (even allowing for the fact that it's almost impossible to perfectly place every sticker) and the overall effect is to diminish his appearance a degree. And yet the details would have looked amazing if they were tampos instead! The painted yellow details on the top of his legs look better than most of the stickers.
