Due to a frenzied summer of ebaying and car booting purely to bag this chap, he actually cost me thirty quid. But, the price was £276 on TFE's pre-order.
Which is about a hundred more than MP Megatron, so put in perspective, although he's very expensive, relative to current Takara prices he's actually a bargain. I think anyway. I can't see Takara doing one the right size.
Omega is one of my fave characters so I couldn't pass. He and the Toyworld Devastator are the two big pieces to balance either side of the MP collection.

He's put Masterpiece back in the driving seat in terms of my collecting. Generations just doesn't cut it compared to this kind of thing. Awwww bloody 'ell, Pinwing, just as I'm considering giving up the whole 'Masterpiece' lark, you go and say poety like that! Damn you, sir! |

To celebrate the fact I've almost halved my Transformers spending this year... I bought FT Phoenix.
The impending Sovereign reissue and the fact that Terminus Giganticus is just so good has made me realise I can't live without my Faaaaans Toooooys collection being up to date.
I was worried about him, in photos he does look a bit like a big white blob, but in hand the finesse and detail is obvious, as is the heft. No... no, in his case it's...
heft.

Why, in the name of bastard-bollock-bags, can't this be officially up-scaled?!?! Up-scaled to Classics. To Masterpiece. Such a simple design that really screams Sunbow at you. Feel solid. Look great. Transform great. Tons of guns 'n' stuff. For 15 quid each. 15 quid.
Size-wise... they look good with Legion. A tad too small for Legends. Ok-ish for delux Strike Planes. Nice with delux Classics Optimus though. Great together.
More Autobot cars please Hot Soldiers.

Nectar points burning a hole in my pocket and a favourable chinese eBay seller mean I have finally scratched the itch that is MMC Sphinx. I have nearly bought this figure SO many times over the last few years, but am really glad I have him. He lives up to his reputation. The robot aesthetic is just enough Sunbow to match the newer figures, but retains enough detail to sit comfortably with the older MP cars. A few joints are a little looser than I'd like, and the shoulder canon positioning could have been thought out a little better, but there's nothing really wrong with this. Die cast in the feet for heft, rubber tyres, plastic quality in line with Takara. Great, great Mirage.  And the icing on the cake was that he slipped under the CUTA radar. I was sure he'd get caught, but the seller listed the value neatly under the limit. |

Sphinx is great, I got one when Kapow had a sale on. The joints are a little loose in places, I find mainly the legs and getting him to pose in a fancy way was a pain?

Yes. The knees are just a little bit more flexible than you'd want them to be and with the weight in his feet he ain't standing on one leg in a display, but he is still a remarkably good figure. The proportions are all spot on and the head sculpt is really, really nice.

I, too, have finally freed Sphinx. He and X-Transbots Boost are bloody good.
I already know my next purchase HAS to be Sunstreaker now, and then? I need the rest of the Minibots, Trailbreaker... I still hold out hope for an official Jazz though!

It felt to me last year that a Takara Trailbreaker was on the cards; there seemed to be a groundswell of rumours and Fans Toys delayed theirs. But then they seem to do that when two or three other options are available.
