Not unexpected, but I have to admit I was looking forward to exRID and MTMTE beating Marvels 80 issue run.

I suspect GI Joe might be a forced fit, but once thats settled I dont have a problem with them coexisting. And MASK originating as a Joe type team using Cybertronian tech to deal with ex RIDs current story could be pretty good.
At least two thirds of the TF comics are mostly not Earth based anyway.

Think it's a bad fit personally for a lot of them.
Something that should have been done at the start if anything.

Conspicuous lack of mention of MTMTE in there or there being more than one TF title.

I can see this being something Hasbro mandated rather than dreamed up by IDW.
Similar to their shared movie universe idea.

They might pick up readers because of the crossover and relaunch, but considering the "street cred" (as the old people say) MTMTE has developed I dont know that messing with it at all is a good idea.

Its possible only ex RID will be relaunched. Its already a very different title than it was so a relaunch might make a little sense given where its been heading of late. TAAO will only just have launched (or will it? I dont pay much attention) making a relaunch a bit mad.

So it is a five week event. That 5 one shots or just the #1 for 5 titles? The fact we have 6 titles listed. Transformers, Gijoe, ROM, MASK, Actionman, Micronaunts, I think it could end up be a break month while in the past these crossover have been run alongside the core titles while this is doing X-men AOA .95 & just replacing them (but fact not stated)

That would be amazing. The 1% fighting to maximise profits as they compete to rebuild a world devastated by the events of All Hail Megatron.

Y'know, I was thinking that Doc looked a lot like T-Bob. He's a brother from a different mother. Also, why is Optimus punching Thunderhawk?

Well... That's a terrible idea. They say that it isn't going to be a reboot but considering that either the Transformers books or the GI Joe title will need to get a significantly revised history for the last several years by definition (All Hail Optimus either happened - in which case the Joe books continuity is being revised, or it didn't (ibid exRiD).
I mean, it doesn't really affect me seeing as I'm not buying any of the affected comics anyway, but in principle I can't really see the point. (Although according to that interview the fans of the various titles want it, so they must see something in it that I don't...)

I havent followed GI Joe, but it started around the the same time as AHM so could in theory be set just after, weird that it wouldnt have been referred to, but possible and it ended before AHO.
Or the entire series was set prior to AHM and the relaunch is set in the wake of AHO.
Im vaguely curious how it will be handled, but dont care as I dont expect they'll mess with the transformers comics or back story. Gi Joe might be messed with, but at least it means a new GI Joe comic which is good news for Joe fans. And MASK is new so can be written to fit a world of Transformers and Joes which should at least distinguish it from any of the 80s versions.
And yeah Doc and TBob must have a connection, given this news the similarities cant just be coincidence.

Ah! I've just realised something - I was thinking of their other GI Joe title - the Larry Hama one (Which I suspect has probably been cancelled as well anyway). Didn't realise that the new continuity Joe book had been canned, I've not really been keeping an eye on the comics world that actively this past year or so. Feel free to disregard my second sentence, it is talking nonsense. :-)
I still don't see the point of this whole shared universe thing particularly it doesn't harm me, but it also doesn't feel like I would gain anything from it - if I was still buying MTME then what would I gain from MASK being nominally "in the same billion billion miles of space"? They are unlikely to have overlapping themes or ideas so there are still effectively two different comics and I would be no more likely than before to be interested in buying MASK.
But eh, what do I know - the last time I was reading the TF books and they had a crossover I went away and came back later. I'm hardly the target audience for this. :-)

There is also the toy tie ins - we had CW last year, this happens right after Titan Returns unless they are not doing the 3rd one next year?

It would be best if they did it like ow Marve did ack in 1996. Befoe you could have Manhatten destroyed in Avengers while taken over by demons & venom al at thesame time but the other books not notice the story arcs. It wasn't until 96 when we started seeing papers or tv news report about other events.

Why is The Internet losing their shit over this? It's comics. Daft crossovers happen. Remember that technically Avengers and Transformers are in the same universe anyway and other than Spotlight: Ramjet it's mostly been ignored. The world continues to spin even though it may seem odd that the Avengers did not notice that time Megatron conquered New York. Stay calm and vote with your wallets if you don't like the idea of this new thing.

Because it is not just a one-off crossover, it is an ongoing change that will affect all the existing books.

All comic companies sell their big crossovers as STORIES THAT WILL CHANGE THEIR UNIVERSE FOREVER. It's how they are promoted. We know this. As for how much of a difference the BIG CROSSOVERS MAKE well that can never be known until the comics that come after Come out. I've read plenty of comics crossover events which promised THINGS CHANGE FOREVER but are forgotten about fairly quickly. It's nothing to lose the tiniest bit of shit about.

Here's the thing though. An active shared universe means the books must influence or at least respect each other. Is GI Joe going to be taking place in a post apocalyptic Earth that has been decimated by the Decepticons and currently invaded by Optimus? Apparently!! Does this mean that Transformers needs to make sure all the other comics are on board before doing any 'big' Earth based plots? Yup.
