I have picked up issue 3 of the partwork, possibly out of self-harm. Pocket Books did an amazing 'Final Borg Story' storyline that was ramped up over several years across multiple books, culminating in a genuinely brilliant trilogy that also soft-rebooted the line.
Issue 3 has IDW's attempt on The Final Borg Story, which was just done as a 4-issue mini. It cannot possibly fail.
*weeps*

Well, the film told us that his blood produced a Ressurection effect when injected into dead people...maybe it works the same way when it is still in his body... Karl

The other new year partworks (inc Transformers) appear to have fallen locally and are quietly vanishing from shops but the ST one is still about. #5 sighted.

Local newsagent still getting it in so picked up #6.
Of special interest to all is that #11 will feature some of the UK Star Trek comics from back in the day. These are really obscure and were published in the UK even before the show aired. Even I had never heard of them until a Megazine article. They were reprinted last year by IDW though in very expensive hardcovers so missed out.
Surprised the UK stuff is getting dedicated volumes. I had assumed it would be back issue fodder the same way the Gold Key run is being treated.

Fuck me. I had forgotten the first IDW TNG mini was so bad.
Also: the 'twist' as to how Nero found Spock Prime in the 2009 film? FUCK OFF!!!
Enjoying the Gold Key stories. Proper madness.

The books are good, other than the Captain Ro/Quark FWB subplot that has been going on for several years.

The comics partwork must be doing ok as they're putting out a special on the 13th of April, comprising the first Green Lantern crossover which for some reason is a fiver more (!) than a usual issue but comes "with exclusive dust jacket". An easy pass as I have read this in the library and it is crap. Not even amusing or interesting crap: just crap.
