Stay away from shops that sell the Star Trek partwork from the 13th of April onwards then.

Of course he did.
The next one promises the Star Trek/Planet of the Apes.
We could also see the next GL/Trek crossover, Who/Trek and Trek/LSOH.

As the Specials are £15 if I can read the content in the library instead that is better.
Skipping this week's regular issue as I have read the contents in the library.

I made an attempt about 6 months ago to re-read one of my favourite Trek Novels, Spock's World.
Unfortunately very early on I spotted parallels with certain depressing real world events and had to give up.
I am going to try again.....

It contains a sequel to 'Who mourns for Adonis?' which had an icky distasteful side to the plot that did not agree with me.

I have weaned myself off the Partworks. I will go back when they print more UK stuff, Peter David's run or the Movie adaptations (I have a soft spot for them).
I am now having to pre-order my monthly Trek novels online! First the libraries let me down...then...the local book shops!!!

After a few issues away, I picked up #13 of the Partwork for the fist half of the early 80's Marvel run (which I haven't read). Bonkers fun though the repro (from IDW print files) is piss-poor.
The next special is Trek/Planet of the Apes from 6th of July.

I had avoided the Eaglemoss Apes crossover special at first but then I saw WFTPOTA and enjoyed it so Apes fever grips me. Not read it yet but I am unclear why it is a fiver more than regular issues. Yes it has a dustjacket but beneath the book is the same cover ie produced exactly the same as the regular issues. No bookmark thingy. I had expected embossed or foil cover beneath. There's nothing written on the inside dust jackets. It just feels cheap. Content is 5 issues but no extra Gold Key backup like the regular series so less bang for the buck.
Feeling a bit ripped off. There's literally nothing extra here to justify the extra fiver. Silly Ralph!

The local newsagent appears to have stopped stocking the Trek partwork with the Apes special. I have hunted high and low in Edinburger and Glasgow and cannot find the current issue which is NEWSPAPER STRIPS PART 1. Has anyone seen it? One of the few issues I am after!

I've seen it in W H Smiths here in Northampton. First time I've seen any partworks around here since March or thereabouts actually.

I suspect the local newsagent ordered the Apes special instead of the regular issue as they have got every issue in so far.
Looking forward to reading the newspaper ones, the second early 80's Marvel volume and the rest of the UK comics. Not fussed about any more Kelvim Universe volumes. I read a few and just not for me.
I hope some of PAD's DC run is printed. Some good stuff in there.
In other news, Discovery novel in September and a comic series following on.

Found a copy of the Star Trek III novelisation in a charity shop. Same edition as I had as a child, invoking much nostalgia. Pleased to report it still holds up as a good read!

I see that from this month Titan have taken back UK publication of the novels. For many years Pocket has imported them. Interesting they have a UK publication again. No difference other than that the cover designers and artists are no longer credited. Poor.
