So far so good with Aztecs. Bit hard to watch... it's the black and white I think. I like the companions, esp Ian. Haven't quite got to grips with the First Doctor yet.... You do get used to B&W stories. It's easier when they're actually any good! He needs Web Of Fear

The Visitation is poo. Aztecs is Top 10 quality (even if it oddly loses something by being so crystal clear now). -Ralph Nothing in particular wrong with the Visitation. Aztecs would be lower 1/3 on my favourite stories list Visitation is so utter pish words cannot describe it. Plodding direction, dull story and the highywayman chap is awful! Awful!!! -Ralph

As you can see Ian, Ralph & I's mileage on these two stories varies somewhat!

The Aztecs is better than The Web of Fear. -Ralph Oh F*** the F*** off with your pish Burns! Like F*** it is! It is. Now don't get me wrong: The Web of Fear is top drawer quality. Sheer gold. Just based on episode 1, the TARGET book and the soundtrack it was one of my favourite stories even before 4 episodes came back in 2013. I will not hear a word against it. However, The Aztecs has a sense of impending doom and drama that no other DW has managed and has Hartnel and Hill's best turns in the show. Just utterly gripping. Scores over TWOF only because it sustains its length better. Not an inch of padding. I just think it is better telly and better Doctor Who. -Ralph

In all seriousness, if Shockprowl is wanting to watch some Classic Who, he can have any of the following for free if he pays for postage: Claws of Axos The Visitation Inferno The Five Doctors The Aztecs Spearhead from Space The Green Death The Caves of Androzani Remembrance of the Daleks The Robots of Death The Ark in Space Vengeance on Varos These are all DVDs which are outdated for me as I've got the new editions now Shouldn't there be a second Resurrection in there too? I can understand hanging on to Tomb.... Should have got Ian to watch Spearhead before Inferno! I didn't own those two first time round! I have a feeling Tomb was too pricey and I didnt like the rubber case resurrection was in, not realising the proper boring case was underneath. I didn't own three doctors due to that authoring error and holding out for a reissue.

I must watch it again. I certainly remember when watching season one Aztecs was the first time my attention started to drift. Only story I rated lower in that first bunch was Marinus.

I was never happy with the first release of TOMB due to the authoring problem where the sound was out of synch on episode 1. It had the same RRP as the other releases though.
I gave away all the initial DVD releases that were superceded by a second edition. I do sometimes have mad moments of completion of wanting to re-acquire them but then I remember money is better spent on other things and the thought quickly goes away!

Well Aztecs was not half bad! Tough to watch the b&w, but the story was solid. Ian and Barbara are very cool. The Doctor himself I struggled with...
Onwards! Next on The Doc' List is-
THE ROBOTS OF DEATH!
4th Doctor! Excellent!

Robots of Death is ok so far. 2 eps in, finish it tonight! Soon!
And I think the 4th Docotor is my favorite. No doubt. He was, after all, my first... And you never forget your first.... unless you're drunk and told about it afterwards... DAMN YOU TRACEY HARVEY!!!!
*ahem* Anywho. 4th is my favorite. 3rd has been a revelation! 5th and 6th not sure of yet. Really enjoyed 7th. 1st I just don't know. 2nd, hardly seen, but I liked him in The 5 Doctors.
Companion-wise, my namesake is the best by far! Ian kicks ass! Barbara was pretty cool also. Other than that, they're all fairly interchangeable... although many are easy on the eye... such a slut, that Doctor chap... I like him....
So, Doctor-wise... I like the ACTION MAN of 3, the CALM SCHEMING of 7, and the BONKERS ALIEN of 4.
I also like the Tardis.
