Arrgh!!! They, they shot them! See, that's a PROPER cliffhanger, cos it's very much "how the HELL do they get out of that!" (normally the cut would be before they open fire and the next ep would start with someone saying "Stop we need to interrogate them more" or something) but it also tells you everything you need inside the ep itself

He is number one on the lusting after Peri list. It's a long one.
There is potentially someone before him, as her debut in Planet of Fire 1 insinuates, but we really REALLY don't want to go there.

That was good Hoop. Very... uneasy... all the way through.
"it feels different this time..."
That's pretty heavy....

Good, ain't it!
Also it is one of the few classic stories with direction that's better than "point the camera at people"

Yes, I'm quite blown away. So uneasy. I feel uneasy! ...he didn't know if he'd regenerate or not! Wow. Need to watch it again. I did see it as a child, but didn't remember. Then... as the last episode went along... I remembered the caves... crawling around in the caves...
HE DIDN'T KNOW IF HE'D REGENERATE OR NOT!
Yes. Good Hoop that.

No sir. But gradually as the final episode went on, crawling around in the caves, tiny sparkles of memory started to stir within me.... But the details were completely lost to me. And I didn't believe it, until it happened. Thinking about at it now, it was just so edgy throughout, it was clearly building up to something.
And the 5th Doctor was courageous to the last! Gave his life to save his companion's. And the herculean effort to carry Peri back to the Tardis with his body wracked with poison! I felt quite emotional.
HE DIDN'T KNOW IF HE'D REGENERATE OR NOT!!!!

I had hoped so! I was curious how you would react if you didn't know the Doctor died in it. I still think it's the most dramatic and nailbiting ending for a Doctor.

I agree.
The fact that he throws his life away for someone he barely knows, a very heroic end to the Fifth.

Absolutely. Compared to the other regens in the classic series, before they truly became the epics that the modern series has made them, five and three really had it right. The rest were all a bit weak.

There are two different type of ending stories for Doctors. Stories where it is *about* him dying and being reborn and stories where he just happens to die at the end. Androzani is the former, 'Parting of the Ways' is the latter.
