I liked the big fighty-fighty in Power Rangers, but the rest didn't really grab me. The fact I'd just watched the lead play a really objectionable idiot in Stranger Things 2 didn't help either. I couldn't see him as a hero!

To my great surprise I enjoyed the 2016 Power Rangers film.
I have no interest in Black Mirror.

The first episodes of The Toys That Made Us are on Netflix now. Seems to be four - Star Wars, Barbie, He-Man and GI Joe.

On the last episode of season 2 of Dirk Gently. Very enjoyable silliness. Shame this has been cancelled - it may have absolutely nothing at all to do with Douglas Adams' characters (bar a dog called Agrajag) but in its own right its a great romp deliberately set up using the 'holistic' theme to bring together lots of separate plot strands into a story that eventually makes sense. Sam Barnett might not be *the* Dirk Gently, but he makes a very good *a* Dirk Gently.

I couldn't see him as a hero! I actually quite enjoyed it. It felt a lot like the kind of thing that you might have got if Disney had decided to do a superhero movie in the late eighties for the teenage demographic. Nothing too challenging, but competently put together. The villain was great too - properly over-the-top, demented performance. Exactly what you want for this sort of thing. A shame that they managed to botch the Super Robot combination scene - in something like this you kind of need to really sell that Moment of Awesome when all the parts come together and the super-robot combines... It kind of looked like they were running out of money somehow. Karl

Finished The Punisher last night. I was curious as to how they were going to make Frank a character the viewer could identify with because the comics tend to keep him at a distance emotionally, but I thought they did it really well. Fantastic series.

Castlevania S1 was watched.
Enjoyable and very briskly paced even for just 4 episodes.
Very funny when the Warren Ellis tropes come through in the script, doesn't hurt it but it did make both Burns and myself giggle.

Episod 1 of the new Lost In Space watched. I can stop there. I was finding it to be intensely dull and boring with a cast with less charisma and chemistry than the marg and cheese in my fridge...and then the Robot turned up and I started swearing. It would be foolish to expect it to be the iconic 1960's Robot design...but...that was shite. Sub-Power Rangers arsebiscuits!
What has persisted in pop culture around the old series is the Robot. Fuck that up and what is the point of calling it Lost In Space?
Fucking awful.
Than at the end...THE THUDDING SOUND OF...AN ARC PLOT.
Fuck off.

The early episodes of the original series when it was in black and white are fab. It went downhill when it moved to colour as the balance between adventure and campery was fatally undermined (though this is the version best known in pop culture).
I enjoyed the 90's film. Gary Oldman is much better in it than in the film he got an Oscar for.
The unaired pilot 'The Robinsons' in early 2000-ish is best described as...an unaired pilot.
Original series star Bill Mumy (who appears in a spit and a cough role in ep 1 of the new series) penned several continuations of the original series.

Slightly frustrated this week with stuff just disappearing from Netflix; before Easter I started watching Force Awakens with Charlotte, and thought we would pick it up today but no - all the Star Wars movies are gone now! And it's the only one I don't have on DVD / Blu Ray... It would be nice if they gave some kind of notice, especially if you are part way through watching - "finish this soon, it will only be here another 7 days!" would be nice.
Similar frustration today with Transformers Prime apparently being reclassified? She's got really into it (I've only seen a few episodes with her - it's better than I expected, tbh) and suddenly it was no longer showing up in either "continue watching" or the search. Then I later noticed it was still available on my profile - it's suddenly no longer suitable for kids...?
Do these kind of things happen alot?

Not for me yet but I do agree a 'gone in x days' notice would make sense: the BBC do it on their radio and TV Iplayers.

Oh! I never watched She-Ra. I might have a go with that. Just started watching it. Ive seen the odd episode 30 odd years ago, but barely any memory of it. I sw it was just one sewason so I thought oh thats okay wont take to long. After 3 episodes ( where the first bunch shown in a movie length format at some point?) I decide to see how many episodes I have to go..... ... 62 more episodes!!!!!!!!! 62!

Or I could just watch 10 episodes of Final Space which appeared on Netflix this week.
An odd show, it's like Guardians of the Galaxy, if the cast was swapped with the cast of Futurama and then Nibbler was swapped with a Jigglypuff with a dark secret. And I kind of feel theres a bit of douglas Admas in there too.
that makes it sound like the best show ever. I mean Jigglypuff with a dark secret alone could/should make the best show ever, but its a bit all over the place. A lot like Steven universe, the lead character is too much to outright annoying early on, but as with SU he developes a bit and the rest of the cast become more involved. Even then it simultaneously going for slap stick and quite dark storytelling which doesnt make for the most balanced show.
But its fun, really well animated, has beautiful artwork and a really strong cast.

To our disappointment Hasbro-related stuff seems to be vanishing from Netflix; MLP has until August 31st. Prime, Rescue Bots and RID too.
