Can't find a general multi-purpose Netflix thread. The missus has decided to give the one month trial a go as it'll incorporate the Christmas holiday. So, apart from all the Marvel series and Voltron, is there anything on this I need to watch while I've got access?

Gurren Lagann Rick and Morty Always Sunny in Philadelphia (honestly I'd start from s2 onwards) All of those shows take a bit to get going, but it's worth it, all are some of my favourite things ever

Archer is amazing. As with the above series it takes time to develope, or possibly it just took me a while to realise it has a lot of much smarter humour going on. But it is amazing.
Seven Deadly Sins and Attack on Titan are both great animes, but very different.
If you've never watched Gilmore Girls its one of the best shows of the new century and just got a brand new Netflix miniseries. Having said that 150 episodes in amonth might be pushing it.
Also among the shows with names that make them sound like they aren't for men, The Good Wife is also fantastic. Also 150 odd episodes. But they both start strong so watch the first half dozen or so episodes and you should know one way or another if they are for you.
Older shows on there if you missed them Community 1st 2 seasons of Nickelodeons TMNT Everything Star Trek Persons of Interest

Oh is all the Star Trek on there? I have an unfinished mission to complete DS9.
Interesting suggestions chaps. I must take the month off work to view all this.

I think they are missing some of the movies. Star Trek 2009 for sure and I think most of the original series ones and maybe 1 or 2 of TNGs.

Yeah watched it over Christmas (seems like the perfect time of year for some nostalgia) almost in one sitting. Brilliant.
Currently working through Bojack Horseman too.
And it sounds as though Neflix will be giving me Arrested Development season 5.
And and since you mentioned it, only 4 months till new Twin Peaks.

Can anyone explain to me what Stranger Things actually is? Irritatingly, it's one of those those shows that folk shout 'OMG SO AMAZING!!!!!!!, etc without saying what it is about. I literally know nothing about other than people shouting said statements in caps online.

It feels very Super 8 meets ET if written by Stephen King

Yes, but what the hell is it? Is it a drama? A sitcom? What's it about? I literally have no idea what it is other than people shouting the name of the show!

It's an eight part drama produced by Netflix. Set in a lazy American town. There's a scientific research facility in which odd things are happening and the story starts with a boy going missing. Part of it is about his friends trying to find him. You can't really pin it to a single genre.
What makes it appealing is the tone screams 80s. Visually it works, but the titles, music, everything homages the feel of early 80s action/horror films.

Yeah its really hard to explain without spoiling plot wise. But essentially if the makers of The Goonies/Flight of the Navigator/ET had made a TV series that had gone missing for 30 years this would be it. The big trick (for me anyway) is making an 80s show that looks good in widescreen HD with the effects side of it looking great to modern eyes while still looking appropriate to a show set in 1983.
Its essentially allowing me as a mid 30s guy to watch a show seemingly from the 80s with the same eyes as I would have 30 years ago. Rather than rewatching an actual show from then and realising just how naff they mostly really are.

That's exactly it. The titles alone make you feel like you're watching a b-movie video rental from 1983, yet I haven't yet managed to pin down exactly what it's drawing on for the style. The font for the title and the credits is every 80s film you've ever seen, but I can't work out exactly which.

Thoroughly enjoyed Stranger Things. So many clichés, but so completely compelling.
Now giving the new Dirk Gently a go. Absolutely bugger all to do with Adams's books, but quite entertaining none the less.

Wohoo! second season of Seven Deadly Sins is on Netflix.
And I just finished Dirk gently. Its a long time since I read the novels but for an original story it felt appropriately odd. So I approve.

After Dirk I started Black Mirror. I appreciate the satire but could only do that in small doses. Currently watching Prison Break because it's one Mrs P has always wanted to watch. I didn't realise it was twelve years old.
Oh, did one ep of A Series of Unfortunate Events but it didn't grab me.

Hmmm. Going by episode 1, He-Man is a bit pixilated on Netflix. Almost like it hasn't been de-interlaced properly. It's really obvious on curves.
