Yay! Some robot I've not met yet called Dropkick, and he turns into an AH-1 Cobra... This is the one Studio Series figure that is genuinely aimed straight at me isn't it? Seems to be both. The movie trailer makes it look like there are helicopter blades down his back, but the studio series toy has a copter mode and the cheapo power series version a car instead. I thought it might be like that movie Drift that changed alt modes during the film.

Between them this gives us Autobot Legout and Clear Decepticon Tuogel (I'm guessing, but you can see what they're doing with the names! (apparently the clear colours are photo negatives of the solid versions too!) I don't think it takes a great leap to guess that Bumblebee Vol. 3 & 4, with some combination of Autobot Graphy & Clear Decepticon Esoin and Autobot Noise & Clear Decepticon Yhparg are coming at some point, to form Autobot Decibel and Clear Decepticon Lebiced. But what other versions of BB could they be packed with? Battlemasks of the above? Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnng. I'll be very surprised if this turns out to be wrong. And I end up having to get two extra toys I didn't want so that the Conjunx can complete her cassettebot collection. Ah well. Still probably cheaper than buying the originals. |

Thank you kindly! Yeah, I am really liking the look of that. They've put in the effort to do the research - it would have been easy to grab some modern reference for a -1Z or -1Y, but the fact that they've attempted to capture the rounded canopy on the alt-mode of the 80's vintage Cobra's is a nice touch. The humanoid mode is great as well. I like the fact that it is quite spindly. Whether intentional or not it is a nice throwback to it's cousin Whirl - they share very much a look as well as an alt-mode. Yep, really like that. Karl |

With the help of TFWiki I now understand Phil's analysis of the Dino cassette madness. I get it! For some reason I thought the original releases were a pair in each faction, so all these backward names were throwing me. But I see now.
Is the consensus then that use of these long dead moulds (adapted I see by looking at the pictures on the wiki - all the points where big pins are on the originals have been remoulded) heralds a Takara reissue of the four different moulds? Including the two yet to reappear? I'd go for that.

I just found out from a friend of a friend something that makes me think thats possible. though I cant figure out why the would have recoloured only one of them if there were plans for a reissue. |

This is complete guess work on my part. But Im wondering if they stumbled across some of these moulds at the same time as Grand Max pretender shelf was found, or as part of the same process. If so I wonder what else may have been discovered.

I just realised I bought vol 2 for the bumblebee and hadn't actually paid attention to the tapes. I don't like them as much as the vol 1 tapes.  |

I've pre-ordered both, so that the Minibot can have her original(ish) cassettes. May or may not shift on the transparent ones and the gold Camaro 'Bee, but will see how much I like them when I have them in hand.

When you look at it like that, it's a really nicely put together line. Good sense of scale, uniform style, good selection of designs and colours, superior engineering.

Undecided on Grimlock mostly because I dont feel the need for a Grimlock now anymore than I have in the last 4 years. And on Ironhide and Megatron because it doesnt look like an improvement on the 07 voyager or 09 leader.
ratchet is still too small so I'll stick with Premium Ratchet which probably reduces the chances of getting the new prime.
Not fussed about the other deluxes. Stinger maybe if I see it cheap and the others depending on if I like them in the new film or they are really good toys.
