Because I've bought my first gig tickets of the year, and I suspect others have done as well... Here's to some amazing live stuff in 2018!

I've just seen that Good charlotte and Jimmy Eat World are headlining in Leeds in May at a Slam Dunk Festival.
After missing GC last month I think it would be rude not to get a ticket for that.

1. Steel Panther - Inglorious - Wayward Sons: Off the mark with a cracking show from Steel Panther. Support was a bit meh, but SP always provide a good time. Some folks seeing them for the first time thought there was too much banter, not enough songs, but for my money, I had a good time.
Journey home was less fun, as the very full bus broke on us. And slightly unnerved by a fella a couple seats in front of me, who locked eyes and said "And I know you. I deliver your mail every day." Ummm.... cheers?

Let down by the Christmas gig, but one of the best frontmen in music when he's on form.

Well, I hope he's on form. His twitter seems to have a bit more fire to it recently, so I hope it keeps up!

First concert/festival of the year last weekend. Country 2 Country 2018. A really good nights entertainment even if its probably the worst of the 3 I've been too. Everyone was good, but nobody jumped out at me the way The Zac Brown Band, the Shires or Darius Rucker did in previous years.
Kacie Musgrave was good, but didn't really impress as a headliner and Sugarland, who I feel Like I should have loved and probably would have made better headliners, well I just couldnt quite get in to them. Maybe the ass' in front of us who spent the entire performance chatting loudly, going on facebook and taking shitty photos that they found hilarious distracted me, they certainly annoyed the hell out of me. After Sugarland I asked if we could be moved and wound up with slightly better seats on the other side ofthe arena for Kacie Musgrave.

1. Sumo Cyco - Skarlett Riot : Two of my favorite bands sharing the stage in a tiny sweatbox in Birmingham? Yes, more of this please. Skarlett's vocals were lost in the mix, but it was an immensely grand show. Can I go again, please? 2. Steel Panther - Inglorious - Wayward Sons 3. Neverhall - The Mighty Wraith -Severn - Gunners Law: Neverhall had lost it's singer and was perfoming instrumentally. That's about as good as it got. The Mighty Wraith were a very good 80's style heavy metal band, so if that's your jam, you could do worse.

1. Sumo Cyco - Skarlett Riot 2. Ginger Wildheart - She Makes War - Billy Liar: Ginger, thankfully, seemed to like Derby and was on Top Form. Plenty of good natured banter, and a setlist of pure goodness. She Makes War made some amazing sounds with her guitar, but it did tend to blend. Angry Edinburghian Billy Liar was sued by David Hasslehoff, but that's not why he's angry, y'know. 2. Steel Panther - Inglorious - Wayward Sons 3. Neverhall - The Mighty Wraith -Severn - Gunners Law

1. Sumo Cyco - Skarlett Riot 2. Ginger Wildheart - She Makes War - Billy Liar 3. Steel Panther - Inglorious - Wayward Sons 4. Sunset Nebula - Magic Pillow Factory: invited by a friend to see these guys, they make very trippy noise landscapes. Very easy to get lost in thought to, less easy to actually listen to. 5. Neverhall - The Mighty Wraith -Severn - Gunners Law

1. Sumo Cyco - Skarlett Riot 2. Skindred - CKY - Danko Jones: Odd night, as I was spending most of it looking after a friend who's illness had caught up with her. So we were at the back of the crowd, mostly. Skindred are incapable of putting on a bad show though! Recent events made 'Saying It Now' a super emotional experience. 3. Ginger Wildheart - She Makes War - Billy Liar 4. Steel Panther - Inglorious - Wayward Sons 5. Sunset Nebula - Magic Pillow Factory 6. Neverhall - The Mighty Wraith -Severn - Gunners Law

C2C
An Evening with Brian Blessed - There was singing so it counts.
Nashville in Concert - saw it last week in Leeds. Wasn't sure what to expect or how much I would enjoy it. I like the TV series but have only ever watched most of it one so its not like that song from 6 years ago has stuck in my head and yeah I barely even recognised most of the songs, but the songs are still good and the performances blew me away.
Coming up Bill Bailey - seeing him tonight, I assume there will be music.

1. Sumo Cyco - Skarlett Riot 2. Icon For Hire - Riot Child - : Spur of the moment gig, but well worth it. Uplifting powerful songs. Riot Child were kinda like Tove Lo with a rock edge, and were really ggod. I've forgotten the openers, and that's about right. 3. Skindred - CKY - Danko Jone 4. Ginger Wildheart - She Makes War - Billy Liar 5. Steel Panther - Inglorious - Wayward Sons 6. Sunset Nebula - Magic Pillow Factory 7. Neverhall - The Mighty Wraith -Severn - Gunners Law

Download Festival : Bit of a pain in the arse this year. Sound was awful if you were past the mixing desk, and there was an insane amount of bleed from first to second. The bands were good, the weather was good, but the vibe just wasn't there so much. 7. Sunset Nebula - Magic Pillow Factory 8. Neverhall - The Mighty Wraith -Severn - Gunners Law

last night i went to The Damned, The Darkness and Hollywood vampires, fantastic night,
The Damned - never seen them but put on a great fun show, really catchy energetic performance The Darkness - Just bonkers as always, Justin was in good spirits and mad as ever, i believe the phrase he used was, " we only have time for 2 songs and minimal pissing about, apologies"
Hollywood Vampires- absolutely sensational, Alice Cooper is till a commanding beast of a front man, and biggest surprise, Johnny Depp can actually sing really well!
