If the winner is going to be a two-pack should there not be 8 quarter finalists for the vote?
Really cruel match-ups. We are in dire neec of Spinister and Needlenose, but let's face it the 1984-85 crew will win every single time.

Ah, I have just read on Tfw these are the two-pack lineups.
Pretty sure that'll be a win for Tracks and Needlenose given their prominence and relationship in IDW.

I dunno. Don't count Impactor out. He's never been touched by hasbro in any meaningful way. The thought of a new, non-rook non funpub repaint mold may sway a lot voters.
Personally, I would vote for Tracks vs Spinister, if that were an option. Don't care about needlenose or impactor, and don't want yet another mirage or wheeljack.
Unless Mirage was much more toy accurate than brilliant Classics or that awful CW.
Actually yeah. Accurate Spinister vs Accurate Mirage is what I'd vote. The presented lineup though is awful. Does not move me to vote. No choice is anything I want.

Tracks & Wheeljack should be made from the same toy, so not much work for Hasbro there to change it. While Needlenose could be a Starscream design they have sat around unused. So Impactor & Mirage so they have to do some work. Unless Impactor is a Shockwave toy design unsed.

If it's launching for the Thrilling 35th though, surely it won't be the departure from G1 we were hoping for...

Not the most inspiring vote, this one. I guess they made too much work for themselves with the Primes vote, though. So... eh.
On the plus side - at least this vote isn't referencing any of the core G1/recurring characters. So that's something...

Nah. I think from their perspective Toph is right, they're locked into the idea the nostalgia line has to be WE LOVE 84!!! So having effectively rebooted Generations after T30, we've had a five year cycle of them giving us articulated updates of every G1 character they could conceivably do, and rather than move onto G2 or Beast Wars, they've decided it'd be safer to do that all over again but with Cybertronian alt modes instead.
I quite like the idea, but I'm also aware of the fact I probably don't need another five years of all those same characters again but with whizzy space modes. Surely they can't just redo all the same names with different transformations? Are we getting all the combiners again? That accounted for almost half of Power of the Primes. Do we need pre-headmaster Transformers? There has to be something original or different about how they can make this run for three chapters of a trilogy.

We know we tend to get overtures to the next cycle during the previous, and Pottop has already given us Orion Pax and three of Elita-1's team. I'm not sure though how you can make a whole range out of the few characters the cartoon threw up from the past. Maybe it'll expand on the Primes idea - War for Cybertron doesn't tell us how far back they're going to go.

Specifically calling out Tetrajets makes me think this line will pump in as much sunbow worship as they can.
You know what? I honestly would not mind this line as a mixture (sunbow, IDW, WfC, War Within) if it means we FINALLY get some flippin' War Within toys! But I fear this will be all exclusively sunbow, or sunbow styled pre-earth. Dion, another Orion Pax, whoever the hell Alpha Trion was in the cartoon before he was Alpha Trion, the autobot girlfriends, tetrajets, bumblebee, wheeljack, jazz

They learned their lesson. Add a beast (dinosaur, bw, whatever) and it always wins, because the people sick of rehashing '84/'85 will always band together. They admitted when they announced Primal as the winner that he was only in there as a gag, and thought no one would vote for him.

Wasn't there already something called 'War for Cybertron'?
I'm up for Tetrajets. Love that design. But even I'm getting fed up of the same old same old. Except for Prowls of course.

Yeah, if they reboot and go back to '84 unless there's a toy that vastly outclasses the Generations one, it looks like it could be time to tap out. Which I don't mind so much, to be honest.
I'm not even all that fussed about this potentially pulling down the IDW comics, because the shared Hasbro-verse has already done that...
Hmm.

It would make sense to mix the different sources together. War for Cybertron was the game, Shocks. They said at the reveal that this new line wouldn't be based on that, and Generations had a year or so on those designs in the FoC era. My thinking is that in terms of recognisable characters, Toph has given most of who actually featured in the series in a Cybertronian mode.
It does make me think that there is scope in a line like this for a wider pre-Earth story including the other worlds and characters who have appeared elsewhere but could have been part of the early story - like the much requested Star Saber etc.
Pre-Earth does scream Omega Supreme for a Titan though.

There is a potential this line could culminate in Beast Wars. Past, Present, and Future. Past- cybertronian modes for everyone Present- Earth modes for everyone Future- well... the only future in the franchise is BW. And ultimately a futuristic vehicle mode would look the same as a pre-earth vehicle mode.
Keep in mind, this is a wild swing, and I would be shocked to be proven right.

Maybe it'll expand on the Primes idea - War for Cybertron doesn't tell us how far back they're going to go. I can see a senario were its a continuation of the last 5 years worth of toys. Yes the fact Tetrajets have already been mentioned means we'll get some pre earth based designs, but POTP has just about run us in to G1 lines that had pretty much abandoned the earth based disguises. They covered a lot of ground, but Hasbro have been happy to redo characters pretty quickly from one line to the next. So potentially all the pretenders with what can charitably be described as cybertronian modes could be on the table. Japanese characters like Star Saber would also fit as do all the characters in the current IDW cybertron set series. Yes we will get the same old 84 characters again, but we've been getting those every other year at least since thrilling 30 really its just a question of what else comes with them.

Could it be following the G1 line - how we had combiners, headmasters, pretenders. So that would be Micromasters next with city bases to build your own Cybertron.

I still think one of the biggest failings of Armada was not pulling out those old micromaster bases, and reusing them for minicons.

Specifically calling out Tetrajets makes me think this line will pump in as much sunbow worship as they can. So... no change there then... I strongly suspect that this will be another line with not a great deal in it that catches my eye. This is no bad thing - Titan's Return saved me a lot of money and Power of the Prime's looks like it will continue that trend so it is fair enough by me. The mention of the Tetrajet's makes my eyes roll - as presented in the Sunbow show those are horrendously physics breaking designs of an almost Great Old Ones level. They have humanoid modes which are clearly designed to turn into F-15's which somehow liquify and reform into four-sided dice which fly through the air... And they don't even have the good grace to have numbers marked on their sides so you can't even use them to roll damage! :-) Karl

No beasts, either. Even one would have been a winner, eh? "Technology versus nature" Yeah, that would have worked. It would have made a lot more sense than some of the line-ups. Needlenose and Tracks are "Brother vs Brother"...er, how? They aren't each others brothers, and for that matter whose Brother is Needlenose? (Assuming that Tracks is Road Rage's brother given that they have the identical bodyshell things going on). Several of these have also had fairly decent toys in the last few years as well. Eh. This is one that I feel qualifies as a "Why do I care who wins?" Karl

Tracks and Needlenose are supposedly brothers in the IDW continuity. Why is beyond me. Guess because their toys both have similar headsculpts?

Tracks and Needlenose are supposedly brothers in the IDW continuity. Why is beyond me. Guess because their toys both have similar headsculpts? Huh. Fair enough. I'm pressed to remember anything I've read from IDW that even had Tracks in, which is probably why that didn't occur to me. Not that I follow the IDW comics much these days - the "Hasbro Universe" nonsense beat most of the remaining interest out of me. I'd be fascinated to know what the meaning of "brother" is in the IDW universe though. The G1 definition - of closely similar bodyshells, like Sideswipe/Sunstreaker and Rumble/Frenzy is the only time I remember it coming up in any previous TF continuity. Karl

But this team really does seem to be hung up on sunbow (not as badly as Takara's MP team, but not far off), so I really have no doubt they're specifically referring to the cartoon tetras.
