I think it's the same as Dreamwave. The sparks split when forming, or something close to that.
I personally always hated the "the toys are repaints, thus they're brothers" philosophy. That never made much sense to me when you're a machine, and your body is manufactured. Also in 35 years, your post is the first I've ever heard of Frenzy and Rumble being brothers? Is that a fan theory, or canon? Off to wiki!
Edit: Huh. They are. I never knew that. But neither article says where they're declared to be brothers. At least, not that I can find.

I think it's the same as Dreamwave. The sparks split when forming, or something close to that. Oh, yeah. IDW has sparks. I tend to think of those as a Beast Wars/Machines thing, and tend to forget that they have rolled across to a lot of the newer continuities as well. I tend to associate the original Transformers with having brain modules rather than sparks - sparks to me are more of a Beast Wars shows/Beast Machines thing. Karl

Did Frenzy have a pre A-Z TFUK bio Nope. Rumble did in #19. I've just noticed while checking that Ravage appeared in the old form A-Z twice, #8 and #73.

The pairing are pretty random. Tracks, Wheeljack and Mirage all have great full retail versions so Im not overly fussed about any. I suppose if these are Cybertronian forms they are all new, but only WJ has an existing design to tempt me with.
Funpub gave us a pretty good Impactor, Needlenose and Spinister, but non have had proper retail releases (lets not count FOC impactor). Of the three a non repaint with a new head Impactor has to get my vote.

This is tough because Tracks and Wheeljack have perfectly good Generations toys in their 2010 versions, but Impactor should be a Voyager and the chances of getting two are fairly slim.
I wonder if this one is, which prototype do we take to completion, like it felt was going on with Windblade and Trypticon, or is it, which of these existing moulds do you want repainted, like Victorion?

Hmmm. Not inspiring choices. Even Impactor has had a proper retail toy before. Hmmm.

Yeah, I've gone Impactor, 'cos I can see myself being interested in a comic accurate voyager sized Impactor. Otherwise, like others have said, I'm not too interested, and the brothers thing doesn't interest me at all.
Actually, a mercenary Mirage is an interesting concept. Where's that popped up from?

Hmm, you are right Impactor should be a voyager, but he is also the only one of the 6 that has never had a mould designed specifically as that character.

There is also a 3rd party one I think. -Ralph

(Hang on. I've still got Roadbuster and Whirl, who I can't make myself move on 'cos of some crazy toy catalogue nostalgia. If they do a voyager Impactor, and I get a Topspin and Twintwist and glue their heads on... IT'S WRECKING TIME, BABY! Well, apart form Rack n' Ruin...)

I seemed to remember it being retail, but it was a while back and before I had to do a load of patching to my brain... I remember liking the FOC one though. It wasn't the strongest of the FOC Wreckers, but it wasn't a terrible toy. The other one is good as well - but then, anything based on the Rook mould is going to be good, given how strong that mould is. Karl

Karl FOC Impactor isnt a bad toy, infact its quite good but isn't a great likeness to of Impactor, nor is it even in the right colours. Head sculpt was great though. CW Impactor makes a reasonable Earth mode Impactor and the colours are right. Head sculpt isn't perfect, though far from the list of disasterous Fun Pub efforts.

Well, this feels not unlike a real-life election vote in that I feel I should vote for something but nothing on the table is what I'd really want.
I choose Impactor vs Mirage; a new mould Impactor as an exclusive (so he can be purple!) is too tempting to miss. If I'd continued down the line of collecting all the Generations Wreckers I'd be disappointed in the size class, but I didn't so here I am! And as a deluxe he would be a good match to Go! Bakudora who I use as Macabre.

I do quite like FOC Impactor and I was lucky enough to be gifted with one. Sure it isn't exactly like him but the weapons are good, the head sculpt is fab and having Xaaron's head literally up his bum makes me giggle.
I would not say no to a new one though as the FOC one wasn't available in the UK and was hard to find in the US. The other one was a Fun Pub exclusive so it would be nice if there was a version it is easier for some fans to get as he remains a popular character.
I never take these fan votes too seriously anyway: they're just a bit of fun.

I smell some corporate revitalisation nonsense in the premise, but am hopeful that in reality the toys will continue to deliver. As long as we continue to get the 1987-89 characters I will be happy.

Actually the more I think of it I do wonder if Titans Return was considered the failure, and if so do Hasbro blame the character selection as opposed to the gimmick?
I see TR deluxes shelf-warming everywhere. The 3rd party companies now almost exclusively focus on 84-86. This new WFC line is openly stating that it too is going back to 84-85 characters, but with Cybertronian alt modes. The 2018 fan poll has three 84/85 Autobots in it. The Function X line from Fansproject seemed to play a part it the company's demise.
For me, all signs are pointing to the fact that the post 1986 crew don't sell as well. Heck, even the Seacon re-issue a few years ago bombed into dirt cheap clearance.
