I've seen it suggested that the IDW licence is due to expire this year... Even if it is renewed, I can imagine Hasbro wanting the comics to follow the 'Evergreen' path, OR be focussed on their current Bumblebee line, OR follow their Generations toy releases more closely (To be honest, I'd welcome a comic that was toy-centric again, ie forcing the writers to stick in a new cast each year like the old Marvel stuff, that kept it fresh when it worked)

What's he been hinting at? Are IDW keeping the license?

I know the Hasbroverse stuff complicates things, but if the current continuity does end I'll be quite frustrated if The definitive collection isnt extended to finish the run when it'll already be so close.

Should it have all been rebooted with MTMTE#56 around that point?
I expect the first series of the new universe is going to be a small group with Bumblebee - but would it be tied into the toy range now? If so does this mean other Hasbro items have a toy range coming out? Mask etc. I don't expect to see 2 out going Transformers series but rota writers or maybe 2 stories each issue.

I wonder how it will affect the Hasbroverse titles ? Wasn't there a third event due this year following on from Revolution and First Strike ?

I'm glad that this is going to be a planned ending. Endings are very important things for stories and this allows IDW the opportunity to give these stories a good rousing end off.

We still have Insurgency - but no other details unless it's just a 4 issue event.
I've just looked & Insurgency should be released before First Strike

Wait, is this the end of this continuity, or are IDW not renewing their license and stopping Transformers comics completely?

End of this continuity.
We don't know one way or the other on this license yet.

I'll be miffed if the complete collection hardbacks become a casualty if they do ditch the license. The 'incomplete complete collection' is not what I want on the shelf.

I'm more concerned about whether we'll ever see another UK Classics volume

Ok. That's something then. Still thinking I might jump ship to the hachette collection. It'll come up to date quicker than the IDW collection hardbacks and sounds like it might now actually contain everything up to this reboot.

I don't see the ambiguity. He said new IDW TF comics.

It'll come up to date quicker than the IDW collection hardbacks and sounds like it might now actually contain everything up to this reboot. Hopefully so. The Hachette reprints are also cheaper than IDW's own paperbacks & hardcovers, which is a plus point. The only downside is that the comic pages are slightly smaller than the US comic page. The Dying of the Light reprint looked like it had been squished.

On top of that, IDW is the only fully successful fiction TF has had since TFA, and Hasbro has consolidated all their properties under IDW. It seems like it would be extremely silly to only take Transformers away, after being so pleased with it's success that they basically awarded IDW everything.

That’s the plan.
However until any deal is inked there is no guarantee and if someone was to offer Hasbro more money for the license who knows.
FWIW I think IDW will keep the license.

The Uk reprint also show more of the IDW image too. IDW cut off the edge of the pages

Happy for them to keep the licence. Really enjoyed their pre-AHM stuff and the first chunk of MTMTE and RiD. And the opportunities they have given to many TMUKers to deservedly build their wider comics creating careers.
I would however like to see a turn to Transformers and their civilisation as alien robots rather than just a mirror image for parts of current human society.

Slightly encouraged by the news that IDW have put up the complete collection 2.8 for release in December. At least that confirms that series will continue.
