Yeah, that's a good point, Llama. Those movie names are... shockingly poor.
Skulk isn't too bad. Rupture makes me think of medical things though...
Not sure I can vote for any of the Pretender Monsters. None of them stand out or are interesting.
I think... I think it may be 'monster over-load'. The Terrorcons, superb, bonkers, crazy, different. Firecons, are ok 'cos they're silly and small. Then more monsters come in the various 'Master' lines, some are good, others are just ok. Then Monsterbots, the good guys want in on the action. Then LOTS MORE monsters with Pretenders... etc etc etc... And now these chaps... I DON'T CARE ANYMORE. I've had enough of monsters all ready!

They are tinsy! In Robot Mode they are about the same height as the lower leg on a Combiner Wars figure!

I think that Skulk, Rupture, Thrash, Gorge, and Glug are pretty good names, actually. A lot more inspired than other movieverse names like Que or Dino... True. I've had enough of monsters all ready! That's fortuitous, as from 1990 onwards, through G2, right up to the start of Beast Wars, I _think_ there are virtually no animal/monster TFs (apart from a few Action Master partners, Double Punch and Dinobot/Firecon re-releases). Micromasters, Classics (apart from Dinobots), Motorvators, Overlord, Rescue Force, Yellow Constructicons, Turbomasters, Predators, G2 (apart from Dinobots and Firecons)... all vehicles. Someone correct me if I'm wrong! 'Course, we've got to finish 1989 first, so we've still got Deathsaurus, Victory Leo and so on. Martin

We're going to hit Victory shortly Does anyone own this Victory Leaflet and can do me a higher quality and resolution scan? My preset one is 2347x430 I also wouldn't say no to a larger version of this: Currently 1722x608 Here you go Phil: imgur.com/a/YjhOBHUHope that's ok, was a quick stitch together job. I don't appear to have the other catalogue. Had a look in the Victory toys I own with paperwork and couldn't see it, soz.

I’ll check which I have, need to go in the loft any way! Looking at the featured toys, I'd guess it's more likely to be in with Victory Leo, Blue Bacchus, Black Shadow, Greatshot or Galaxy Shuttle.

I'm going with 'Icepick' because he doesn't have any votes yet. Seriously can't tell these dudes apart. Sorry, Pretender Monster lovers, but my Transformer monsterness peaked with the Terrorcons. Oh, and Hub-enforced-purchasing-and-subsequent-addiction-to Generations Sharkticons...

Week 105: What is the best Pretender Combiner in 1989? The problem is Monstructor has nobody to face off against on the 1989 US Catalogue. So it's time to step into the madness of the 1989 Japanese Transformers Victory Catalogue to find his opposition! There are FOUR 1989 Victory catalogues according to the Generations Books. I have 2 1/2 of them One - I'm mising the 1988 Masterforce carried over side. Most of the Victory toys are illustrations bar Dinoforce, which is interesting and suggests a few things..... Two I'm missing completely, I'll try to get a photo of the correct page of the Generations book later Three - thanks to James for the far superior scan Four So Monstructor is up against his own repaint, Dinoking! Okay, it feels weird voting on Dinoking before we've voted on his component team members - I fear he's going to be disadvantaged as we haven't spent a week familiarising ourselves with his team, as we have with Monstructor's team. Nevertheless, I'm going straight for Dinoking in the vote as his colours are much better.
Part of me wants to say we should be including the shells in this, because you couldn't buy the combiner without the shells coming along with it. So in one sense it should be Monstructor + six monster shells versus Dinoking + six dinosaur shells. In that case... I'd still vote for Dinoking.

A good point, and one that wasn't made by the member of the forum I shared the plan with over a curry ;-) Nevertheless, I'm going straight for Dinoking in the vote as his colours are much better. Simplifying the colours, loosing a few, has done the world of good hasn't it? Monstructor | Dinoking | Yellow | Dark Blue | Pale Blue | Green | Purple | White | Burgundy | White | Gold | White | Lilac | Black | Black | Black |
And no GPS either!

ILLEGAL POLL!
Just to tide you over. ;-)
Anyway, much as I love the Dinoforce in the comics, Dinoking's colours aren't as mad as Monstructors are, which makes the latter stand out better on the catalogue. Therefore, Monstructor wins.
