I could eliminate Grimlock - he isn't on my list. If he were stuck in Dinomode he might be a contender.
Still deciding between My five.

Finishes TOMORROW!
Will the Lawnmower Bot win? Or will Jackpot hit the jackpot? Or will Rollout roll out a winning tally of votes in just one day?

Right - pros and cons out of my five:
Jazz: PROS: Great iconic character and comes with the best small accessory ever - a skateboard! So cool and unlike a lot of the other random companions, it fit's who it comes with. CONS: Actual figure is a little bit flat on the details. Not as 'sharp' looking as the likes of Jackpot or Krok. Also black parts are blue for some reason. Marvel colours perhaps? Skateboard can't store on his back.
Blaster: PROS: The first one I bought. A character unobtainable in the UK and a major player at that. Companion can store on his back, which i wished they all did. Sort of makes them more a part of the figure and is handy storage. Has a Buzz Lightyear action. CONS: Hmmm. Can't think of many with this one. But that's not to say that the pros of the others don't outweigh his.
Bumblebee: PROS: It's little cute Bumblebee straight out of the cartoon and like Jazz was one of my favourite characters. Also has a backpack accessory that sort of transforms whilst on his back from backpack to heli-pack making the figure more transformery. CONS: It's just completely out of scale with the other figures - it's like it was designed to be smaller but ended up being produced at the same size resulting in him actually appearing bigger than his big brothers because of his huge head and features.
Jackpot: PROS: Really nice colour scheme and (like most of the original characters) evokes a gundam/high tech/anime style. He looks like the box art style that appeared on a lot of past toys if that makes sense in his detail and angles in his legs etc. I also like the way you can tell what he would have turned into, more so than the ones with established alt modes. CONS: Other than the fact his companion can't store on his back, nothing really.
Mainframe: PROS: Looks sort of retro - even in 1990. Reminded me of a robot that might turn up in Lost In Space. Fond memories, because I used him in Transtrip stories a lot. He also comes with Pushbutton a wonderful little droid - which along with the Turbo Board is my favourite AM companion. CONS: I guess the robot mode could be a bit boring. Pushbutton cannot become a backpack either but I think I'll let him off as he is so good. Almost like another actual figure/character.

Oh, this is tough! Loved Action Masters when I was younger. Snarl was the first one I got, but I liked Blaster and Kick Off in particular.
Hmmmm.

Even just taking into account the two i had as a kid, Krok and Shockwave, this is tough, but the others are all pretty great too. Even the oddity that is Devastator is a good toy.
Going to have Krok and Shockwave out on my desk today and see how I feel later...

I voted for Blaster in the end (which tied him with Jackpot and Grimlock) but did so through my own merits of the toy. If anyone tried to persuade me I probably would have gone for one of my other choices.

A difficult one this - I'm tempted to say Soundwave since, along with Grimlock, he was my first Action Master after I discovered them in a toy shop whilst on holiday in France. Good time. And sure, he wasn't a character that was unavailable over here, but I'd never had him, and he was such a major player it was impossible to turn up.
But Shockwave. Come on. It's Shockwave. Another that I had to get because of course I did. I really am arguing with myself over whether he or Banzai-Tron stand out more on the catalogue, since Banzai-Tron has some vibrant colours. But Shockwave's always been a great design. So... yeah. Shockwave.
Of my own accord! I should add.

Repeating what I said last week Interestingly the groups shown on the catalogue - there's 3 groups of six - directly represent the case assortments available: www.fredsworkshop.com/1990.htmlEach Action Master was evenly packed within a case. Old vs New..... For each old character made there is a new character made. For each Decepticon there is two Autobots. This disparity is rather large: I wonder if better equality could have been achieved, perhaps with a distribution like2 Old Autobots, 2 New Autobots, 1 Old Decepticon, 1 New Decepticon is clearly intentional as it's over all 3 assortments and is continued into the 1991 Euro Exclusive Action Master assortment. Unlike Martin I favoured the older characters who returned and my memory is that their toys sold slightly better than the newer ones. Action Master Companions..... Each assortment contains AM companions gang moulded over the set. ALL The Decepticons have sentient character companions. Almost all the older Autobots have non sentient accessories: The exception is Snarl who has Tyrannitron Almost all the newer Autobots have sentient accessories: The exception is Kick-Off who has the Turbo-Pack Kick Off & Snarl are in the same assortment: I'm tempted to think that at some point in the design process they swapped accessories round. Over each assortment there are 3 Animal companions, 1 robotic companion and 2 non sentient accessories. Somehow I find the new Decepticons more distinctive than the new Autobots, possibly because there are less of them. If we followed through my idea above of evening out the sides, which 3 newer Autobots would you loose and which three older Decepticons would you add?

He was losing up until the end... how odd... Martin Almost as if someone 'partnered' up.. As I said above I'm sensing shenanigans here! I spotted a couple of Burns puppet voters on the list but couldn't see MrsMiggins and couldn't tell when those he had influenced had voted. Blaster is a decent winner.... but his climbing over both joint leaders does look a trifle odd.

But Shockwave. Come on. It's Shockwave. Shockwave's always been a great design. So... yeah. Shockwave. Of my own accord! I should add. Yes. I too voted Shockwave of my own free will. I suspect he'd have run away with this even without Ralph's electioneering, which may yet sway some to vote the other way! Having said that I have a great attachment to the Devastator I bought at the same time. Lovely little Devastator, fabulous companion that becomes a gun and an inhibitor claw. Was the only animal Action Master companion I had. Devastator's problem though is he got relegated the next spring when the Woolworths Constructicons happened and I got the real thing. AM Shockwave though stood there commanding his new behemoth! Shockwave is also the only AM I've felt the need to hunt down in modern times so far. His companion (which I currently lack) might not be so good but a drone like robot is a very Shockwave companion. And his hand gun was fab.

Blaster is a decent winner.... but his climbing over both joint leaders does look a trifle odd. This is absurd and I can't quite believe I'm having to post this... I'm the other late Blaster voter - I posted last night saying I was torn between him and Kick-Off. I went with Blaster in the end because he was my favourite Action Master as a child, that's all. It's a swing of two votes here - we're not exactly talking about some grand election fraud here, or puppet voters, or whatever nonsense has somehow come up here. Really... Jonathan

Yes, I usually know what I'm going to vote for an vote on day one, because I've always had my favourites. But having so many Action Masters I love made it difficult - plus I was thrown by having all the Autobots lumped together, so it took some time and thought. It wasn't until i listed the Pros and cones that I realised I could find no fault with Blaster. Add the fact that he was the first one I bought and that made him the winner for me.
But only slightly.
Were it split between assortments, then I could have also voted Jazz
Were it split between original & Classic characters then I could have gone for Jackpot (who would have edges slightly over Mainframe)
