I hope you won't claim that Thunderclash is Optimus Prime.

Ralph: after the poll goes up Friday, remind me to ask you about a certain word involved in the toys. I will know which one, I just need reminding to ask!

Im voting on Optimus and Megatron here. Those are the versions I got in 96. And Optimus gets my vote, couldnt say why, but he was my favourite of the two. I like Primes white legs? Maybe I still wasnt used to Megatron as a tank? I dont know.
I think possibly Megatron always felt like he was missing feet and even though it wouldnt become common for a few more years at least, even then this was a toy that needed ankle articulation.

Im voting on Optimus and Megatron here. I have treated this poll as Archforce vs Sureshot, because if you look back to the table in the first post of this thread, you'll see we're doing UK catalogues, followed by US catalogues where toys released are sufficently different to UK (which we decided they weren't in this case), followed by Japanese catalogues where toys released are sufficiently different to UK and US. So... Archforce gets my vote. Martin

The name of the Stealth Bomber toy is the cause of some confusion depending on where you live. Fortunately there's no variation in the stickers! The UK poster labels the toy Dreadwing: Now that imediately makes me think of the combined form of the Decepticon Powermasters https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Darkwing_(G1) and https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Dreadwind_(G1) so I always interpreted the toy as a new form for those characters. The US uses the Dreadwing name, but only for the larger component. The smaller jet is called Smokescreen there, possibly one of the worst name reuses in G2, insinuating that the 1985 Autobot has changed sides! The UK Box labels the toy as Stealth Assault which I always took as more a description than a name. That name is also used in Spain & Portugal. In France, German & The Netherlands the toy is called Ace Evader: exampled of the toy in these boxes showed up in the UK! So in Europe is the big one Stealth/Ace and the little one Assault/Evader ?

To add to the confusion, in the Marvel US G2 comic, Megatron blew up Darkwing and had him rebuilt as this toy... called Darkwing, not Dreadwing: 'Smokescreen' then appeared from nowhere, but was not named in the comic. As he combines with Darkwing, readers would naturally identify him as Dreadwind (allowing the combined jet to be called Dreadwing), although unlike with Darkwing, there was no story showing how he lost his old body and got his new one. He is definitely not the Autobot Smokescreen, who appears and dies the following issue. Martin

The state of that Laser Op in the 95 UK Catalogue: Mis transformed, missing the grill in his chest and several paint apps, notably his fists! After last week you'd think someone in the UK/Europe photography dept had something against new versions of Op!

Hmmm, unlike the stealth bomber, which is apparently a Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit or close approximation of, TFWiki thinks 'Smokescreen' is a made-up jet. This is unusual, given that even the Predators turned out to be based on something real. I think we need Karl for a ruling. Martin

My vote goes without hesitation to the Decepticon. I can't stand Autobot lorry trailers with words like 'OPTIMUS' or 'TRANSFORMERS' on the side. Totally spoils an otherwise lovely toy.
Plus, the Stealth Assault is something that looks completely new and different, which Transformers hasn't had before. Laser Op isn't.

Yep, whilst I'd normally automatically go for any Optimus, that's very off-putting. And not just that, but that "base" mode looks particularly uninspiring. Whilst I do of course now have my own version of the figure (two, in fact - three, if you count the seemingly-permanent guest) and know how good that is in hand, when I originally saw this catalogue picture I was very unimpressed. So it has to be the mystery Stealth Bomber, because that just looks like a much more fun toy.

Smokescreen looks a tad like the Raptors that Bayverse Starscream turns into, only without the wings. Very odd.

Tough choice again, but I'm going for Prime.
The cab and robot mode are beautiful, and no modern homage we've had so far has come close (though I'd be happy to see them have a go at him, WFC-style). He really feels like a _G2_ Optimus Prime, taking cues from the original but adding to it and bringing a 90s vibe. And I _love_ the OTT sticker along the trailer!

The TR Laser Prime is very good though, even if he doesn't have the base mode.

I *THINK* it's the first time I've done this, it won't be the last. I think this one is legal as both were on sale the same year - 1995 - and there is no other toy even approaching that size in either year..... ..... though as we will see on a week Monday, that wasn't the plan! BTW Still waiting for your ingenious solution to the OpOp problem oh arbiter of if a poll is legal! tmukhub.proboards.com/post/448059/thread

The TR Laser Prime is very good though, even if he doesn't have the base mode. I absolutely agree, and am very happy to have one! Would prefer a simpler toy that just turned into the cab though.

I agree. Did David Bowie ever wear a David Bowie T-Shirt?
It would be like that.
Or that so-awful-it's-good 90's Wolverine motorbike that has his face on the front.
