Dirtbag gets my vote as he fully auto transforms, whereas Roadblock needs his arms to be pulled down after the gimmick activation. I also bought Dirtbag on our second TMUK Birmingham get together, hosted by Sven in 1995 so the toy reminds me of that. It was the first one with LOTS of members attending after the influx from the Fleetway comics mention.

These are a bit of an oddity and don't really fit. They're more play gimmick than most TFs this year yet have got a decent level of articulation in the arms. I don't think I've owned the originals - odd, since they're big chunky versions of Long Haul and Scrapper in the right colours - but have their BWII counterparts. They're not Power Master rubbish, but they're not Cyberjet brilliance either. Just a bit meh.
I'm inclined to go for the digger, Roadblock, but Dirtbag has a slightly better robot mode

| Strength | Intelligence | Speed | Endurance | Rank | Courage | Firepower | Skill | Constructicon Long Haul | 9 | 5 | 2 | 9 | 4 | 8 | 7 | 4 | Constructicon Scrapper | 8 | 8 | 4 | 7 | 5 | 5 | 3 | 9 | Ultra-Pretender Roadblock | 8 | 6 | 3 | 9 | 9 | 10 | 8 | 7 | Autoroller Dirtbag | 8 | 3 | 2 | 9 | 4 | 6 | 7 | 4 | Autoroller Roadblock | 8 | 3 | 4 | 8 | 4 | 8 | 6 | 5 |
Long Haul and Dirtbag have 5 tech-spec numbers in common. Scrapper and Autoroller Roadblock only have 2 tech-spec numbers in common. The two Roadblocks only have strength in common. AUTOROLLER DIRTBAG (Materials Transport) "Move it or lose it!" Carries massive amounts of munitions into battle to support Decepticon troops. If Autobots begin to achieve victory, he instantly converts into robot warrior mode to join the fight. Armed with a devastating double-shot missile launcher and crusher claw, he's a formidable fighter despite lack of agility or speed. Titanium/steel composite armour allows resistance to laser fire - but also hinders overall combat efficiency. AUTOROLLER ROADBLOCK (Front-line Defence) "Get out of my way... now!" Always angry. Extremely combative. Enjoys pushing other Decepticons around, but only if they're weaker than himself. Recon missions are his specialty. Clears battle perimeters of fallen Autobot wreckage in minutes with his heavy-duty front end "super shovel". Has no fear of engaging an enemy. Uses spinning saw blade to slice open armour like a machete through birthday cake. Fires powerful "penetrator" missiles that bore through double-thick, armour-plated shielding to assure Autobot destruction. Martin

We all know that Phil can never accept two Transformers having the same name so they MUST be the same character.
I bet he goes round punching all the John Smiths' he comes across.
"YOU CAN'T BE DIFFERENT PEOPLE! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! YOU HAVE THE SAME NAME!"

Wasn't there a show where Kevin Gorman went around finding all the people who shared his name?

Yes. And he devoured them all.
As to the poll, based on the catalogue photos it'd have to be Dirtbag, just because his robot mode looks better. But then seeing him properly transformed, Roadblock looks better with his shovel chest AND his vehicle mode looks like it might have a moving shovel, which is an additional play feature! So it has to be Roadblock.
Except I've always been voting based on how they look in the catalogue, so it's Dirtbag.

4 ALL WITH 24 HOURS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finishes TOMORROW when we will vote on two toys which I would be surprised if anyone here has ever owned!

For most of the future lines I will be concentrating on the western versions.
Obviously BWII, BWNeo and Robotmasters will get their own polls as they're exclusive to Japan.
Car Robots/RiD and Galaxy Force/Cybertron are both a bit interesting: they start in Japan first and then appear in the west later: for those I'm thinking do the toys in the Japanese line THEN what was added to them to form the western line.
Binaltech and Alternators look even more interesting: there's a core of toys in BOTH lines, albeit with material and deco differences. Then both lines have a number of toys unique to them. So Both lines, Binaltech then Alternators would seem to be the pattern to use there

Nightracer clearly has the better colour scheme. But. But Breakdown really captures the eye better, and I prefer its madness. So it has to be Breakdown.

My suspicion is that these have two VERY different stories G2 Breakdown looks like it was a few cases of the toy which Hasbro had done prior to it's cancellation and they used Botcon 1994 to shift. Nightracer is a creation of prominent fan Rashka. Strip the paint off both toys and it's identical to Go-Bot Bumblebee - tfwiki.net/wiki/Bumblebee_(G1)/toys#Go-Bot - come back next week for more there. But since the GoBots are gang moulded this poses a problem. However both black and yellow frames on the toys are also present on the Japanese G2 Gobot Leaders so it looks likely that Nightracer is gang moulded with those toys which accounts for why the body is yellow and not blue as Rashka intended and was reportedly none to pleased when she discovered Hasbro had done something different. A blue robot parts Nightracer would mean that Japanese Op would have had blue lower legs and Japanese Soundwave would have had a blue body - both of these would have improved both toys!

Nightracer also isn't a straight recolour of Highbeam/Bumblebee as she has Gearhead/Soundwave wheels.
