I'm sure they count, as they are in BotCon's 'catalogue' of toys.

Finishes TOMORROW when we will vote on two toys which I would be surprised if anyone here has ever owned! I own a Nightracer, but it's one of the WhizBang protos without the stickers.

I still have the original. I was sent one for free back in the day as some of my drawings were used in the convention magazine.

Our poll on the last two newly released moulds in G2 finishes TOMORROW!
Then we will enter ....... THE REPAINT ZONE!
I am aware tomorrow's topic (and indeed Monday's connected extra poll) may provoke some discussion and disagreement......

Ta.
Someone will either accidentally tread on the landmine or deliberately pull the pin on the grenade.
Either way I'm pretty sure It WILL Happen and It Will Not Go Well......

G2 Breakdown: why would you want just one member of a 5 combining team?
Nightracer: New character.
No contest

Whilst I'd normally go for the black jet (because Batwing, or something) something about Air Raid just doesn't work for me - maybe it's the layout of the black on the mold, or the blue parts, but it just doesn't grab me. And Strafe's colours just aren't for me. So it has to be Jet Fire. Or would be, if he was on the poll. There's some other guy there called Jetfire instead, the usurper! (Is that it? Is that the drama? Also I have no idea if he was actually "Jetfire" everywhere but the catalogue. I trust in Phil to have not mislead us!)

<llama sticks little toe onto Landmine> The three toys pictured here are generally distributed using those names, and those are their generally accepted identities. However for some of the countries in Europe they were distributed under their Decepticon names and on Decepticon cards - we'll deal with that Monday There is one theory that says these were meant to be same name repaints of the original 3 Cyberjets. This theory has some weight, especially when you consider the same character repaints - released or intended - on the 93 G1 repaints and the Hero Optimus & Megatron. OTOH in 1995 Hasbro is mainly moving to different character repaints so it looks likely the two sets of Cyberjets are meant to be different characters and factions. Either way the indications - both the colours and the faction symbols - very much are that THESE 3 were meant to be the Decepticons.

Oh. I was expecting recoloured Gobots this week. But if memory serves me right, these toys were actually released on the Euro cards so it's right they come first.
Jetfire/New Hooligan wins for me. Hooligan is the best mold but had garish colours ruined it for me the first time atound. This one looks much nicer.

Oh. I was expecting recoloured Gobots this week. But if memory serves me right, these toys were actually released on the Euro cards so it's right they come first. They were, but not under the names we're voting on here. www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/1995-the-year-hasbro-discovered-waves.1175810/page-2#post-17009980As I said above, Monday for those names. These were not *OFFICIALLY* released in the UK but both the US versions (Jetfire etc) and Euro (Hooligan etc) were found grey imported here into late 1996. I picked a set up on US cards from a little discount shop in Epsom at the end of that year, Ken found his on the Euro cards and always assumed they were Decepticons tmukhub.proboards.com/post/173871/thread

Yep. We had them at Toys R Us too (the Decepticon versions) - I remember anticipating Beast Wars but instead our entire 1996 range consisted of just these three guys.
EDIT: It was a great time to be a completist!

I mean *OBVIOUSLY* it's Jetfire, despite the non Jetfire colours and Decepticon badge. Strafe's a train wreck on the eye - camo green and energon blue does not go together. Air Raid works, the blue with the black, and the black makes him closest of the three to his original colours. But he's too similar to Skyjack as they're both using black as their major colour - hard not to with a stealth aircraft and some of the experiments with different colours on stealth aircraft have not been good. Jetfire's colours are subdued and realistic. Just not Jetfire who should be white and red!

"Jetfire's colours are subdued and realistic. Just not Jetfire who should be white and red!"
But as Llama pointed out, this is Jet Fire, not Jetfire. Different people in the same way that Martyn and Martin are.

All three of these are completely the correct colours for these characters in Generation 2.
Would anyone dare say that G2 Sideswipe is the wrong colour?
Also, shouldn't you be comparing Air Raid to original G2 Air Raid?

All three of these are completely the correct colours for these characters in Generation 2. They are. But I'm reasonably certain this was not was what was intended. Would anyone dare say that G2 Sideswipe is the wrong colour? I would say the first G2 Sideswipe is a victim of the policy not to have two toys the same colour in the same assortment. I would say the second G2 Sideswipe *IS* the wrong colour. Also, shouldn't you be comparing Air Raid to original G2 Air Raid? No, definitely the originals for reasons that will become clear in time.

I didn't like it myself, but in G2 they can be whatever colour whenever they want. There was no rhyme or reason to it except that it was G2 and colours, vehicle modes and heads just didn't matter.
But as I said, I wasn't a fan of it at all.

Ah, another part of my giant 1996 Orlando haul. Love these guys but really have no strong preference. Jetfire is probabl the weakest, but is Jetfire and was the first time I owned the character. I really like hte black and blue on Airraid and of course Strafe is green. Also As I owned G1 Strafe getting such a weird G2 version made me very happy.
Later on got the Decepticons versions from Morrisons. They remain unopend I believe.

No, definitely the originals for reasons that will become clear in time. I think I know how this fits and where you are going on this. We might as well start on the journey then. Here's the table I posted earlier: First Row is Wave 1 Cyberjets
Third Row is Wave 2 Cyberjets.
Middle Row is the original 85-7 toys for the characters whose names were used on the Wave 2 Cyberjets Now colourwise, which looks more like each the originals? The toy on the row above, Wave 1, or the row below, Wave 2? It's at this point I regret putting Jetfire on the left as he's the most different from either colour. But the other two, with the black & red and white & red, definitely draw my eye more towards the Wave 1 versions of the Cyberjet moulds looking the most similar. *Personally* the red on the wave 1 jet makes me think Jetfire more than anything on the w2 jet. So why the orange for a Jetfire repaint? There's two possible reasons I can think of. A) Not wanting the same colour on two toys means we can't have two white & red jets and Jetfire is the one that got changed
B) Deliberately changing the colour on Jetfire reduces the positionality of any contact from Harmony Gold's lawyers So I very much lean to the w1 Cyberjets looking more like the original toys colourwise and that the w1 jets should be the Autobots. After all it's not like Hasbro haven mucked up names before and indeed STILL DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!. Plus we know there's Behind The Scenes chaos at Hasbro/Kenner around now so a couple of name mistakes with repainted moulds is maybe more forgivable. Or at least it would be if colour/name matches didn't suggest that this wasn't the only time it happened in 1996! We will have another of those tables above showing originals & repaints shortly!
