Red Alert walks away with this one for me.
The Starscream is good, helped by a strong resemblance in overall layout to Shinsei Industries classic VF-11 Thunderbolt design. But the fact that we missed out on a chance to have him with dual swords, and his Mini-con being...incredibly random frankly, loses him some points.
But Red Alert - between the head-sculpt making him feel like a new and distinct character, a huge range of play features and a Mini-con that is both fun to fiddle with and having a vehicle mode that feels like it makes sense teaming up with an emergency response vehicle...yeah, Red Alert is just amazing.

Megatron is repainted in Armada as Galvatron. There is a limited edition (100 units) Black Megatron in Micron Legend in Japan and a 2004 OFTCC convention Mega Zarak Jetfire is repainted in Armada as Powerlinx Jetfire. He has an unreleased Universe version Spacewarp which would have come with a Space Team repaint. These colours were modified as TFCC Astrotrain who came with a Cybertron Giant Planet team repaint Tidal Wave was sold in Japan's Micron Legend line in his cartoon colours where he was renamed Shockwave. He receives another repaint in the Energon line

Bloody hell, Phil. Talk about impossible choices!
Jetfire's standard release Takara colours are slightly different to the Hasbro ones. The reds and greys are darker.

Actually I think his is quite easy, despite them all being good.
Jetfire is different, but it's still obviously the same toy. Whereas the Shockwave is so wildly different he'll be going in the poll for the Gigacon repaints

Oh quite legal I assure you.
If you want something to occupy your mind have a think how I'll do Unicron, the one Supreme toy in this line
Before you say it, the Green Unicron is a very limited edition this time round so he won't be facing that

Easy?! Easy?! How?!
I dread to think what that Astrotrain goes for now but that is utterly gorgeous. What a figure.
God this poll gives me the urges to get these toys out again. I need to do a bit of Bogatan's whitening trick on the Takara Astrotrain's cargo bay doors as they've yellowed badly. Not my doing, the toy was in the possession of a child for a few years as I have the Hasbro one too and I prefer the lighter colours on that.

Because Megatron, currently leading 3-0 It's an amazing toy and does so much. No disrespect to either of the others, which are both fab, but it's the best Megaton probably

Megatron is fantastic as a toy. Good Minicon partner too.
Jetfire... just feels too.. clumsy in hand. But does look good.
Tidal Wave looks great in his box.

Sadly I only have experience of Jetfire of this lot. He looks great, but have to agree the toy is a bit clumsy in hand and the disappointment at that when I first opened him has stuck with me.
I prefer the Takara colours on Tidal Wave, though he looks like a fun toy.
Everything I've seen or heard about Megatron looks great though, so I think I'll go with him.

Tidal Wave looks great in his box. M could be saying one of two things here: Tidal Wave looks great in his box but once I got him out he's rubbish OR Tidal Wave looks great in his box which I've got here but never opened I know which my money is on but am just checking to be sure before I start berating him

Sadly I only have experience of Jetfire of this lot. He looks great, but have to agree the toy is a bit clumsy in hand and the disappointment at that when I first opened him has stuck with me. I feel I should defend Jetfire even though I'd have him in third place. Nice chunky shuttle mode, sufficiently off model to dodge copyright payments. Nice integration of the Minicon, serving as his landing gear. Decent alternate transformation which gives him space in his cargo bay to store Minicons. Not too compromised by needing to form Optimus' Space Pants. Prefer the first version of the soundchip with the countdown. Minus points: Minicon is fiddly & fragile, should have been able to sit in a cockpit. Missile dropping gimmicks and pop out tail fins are a bit meh compared to the other two. Massive wings hanging off the back with an odd connection. Engine doesn't really work as a gun, good thing he pairs well with the Space Team (and so does Tidal Wave with the Sea Team) He's high on my Amrmada "must reacquire" list. OK, yes, it's a short list as I have most of them already. The real looser here is Tidal Wave who is F***ing brilliant. 3 boats, combine to form a super boat/spaceship which TFs to a giant robot. The flight deck lift for Ramjet, the seats in the Landing Craft for Minicons to sit in. And he combines with Megatron! His only downsides are a lack of 5mm hands, odd colour choices on the western version and slightly hair trigger missiles.

Am I the only one who prefers original toy colours for Tidal Wave over the Japanese one?

And to think he went on clearance on the club website back in the day! That said, a quick glance at the completed listings suggest that's a bit on the optimistic side for a price on the seller's part.

Now this should be an easy one, because I'm meant to vote for Megatron, right? That's what everyone says, anyway. Except... as this started as the catalogue poll, I go by which one I'd want to buy, having seen the pictures in a catalogue, and... I was never a fan of this Megatron design. Sorry. Not because it doesn't seem Megatron-like, it certainly does, it just doesn't do it for me. Mostly because he just looks too top heavy in robot mode with those massive shoulders.
So that leaves Tidal Wave and Jetfire. Tidal Wave comes in a close second, just because he looks like he'd be fun. But the space shuttle that is Jetfire just looks cool. So he wins for me. Despite not being the best toy here.

Jetfire wins this one for me. I'm a sucker for space shuttle alt modes and his is one of the best. Yeah, the wings are a bit unwieldy, but it's just so charming. He's this big chonky shuttle and I love him for it.

It's amazing to think we can have a poll where Tidal Wave comes in last place. Objectively, Megatron is the best toy. He does so much, has a load of play features and is a solid chunky robot. And the only one I've played with. I voted for Tidal Wave though, because I think as a kid I'd have been drawn to the combining Dark Fleet angle. Three boats/spaceships (because everything is a spaceship when I was a kid) into a giant robot? Sold. I'd've been sad I didn't have a Megatron to combine him with though.

One day to go. Megatron winning
I'm afraid this coming week's poll is is lot less interesting as I'm forced to do a thing I don't like doing in a poll... but it will be our first sighting of an Armada repaint

I've owned all of these and Tidal Wave is the only one I still have.
Jetfire is a great shuttle but a bobbins robot. Megatron is a fun tank, but very commonly the turret won't stay up and he looks silly. Tidal Wave has no known weaknesses and even his mini con is perfect, a tiny jet on an aircraft carrier, true pleasure.
